Jen Sincero - How to be a BADASS at MAKING MONEY | Afford Anything Podcast (Ep. #75) | Audio

  • In her early 40's, Jen lived in a converted garage, buried in credit card debt and scrounging for spare change.
    She was the type of person who'd join her friends at a restaurant for dinner, order nothing except tap water, and fill up on the complimentary bread basket.
    She used duct-tape to repair her shoes. Her "splurges" consisted of buying new windshield wipers.
    Despite her struggles, Jen believed that pursuing wealth was icky. She'd internalized negative social attitudes towards money, such as:
    Money isn't important. People are.
    Rich people are lucky / gross / shallow.
    You can't make money doing [insert your-dream-here].
    You have to attend a good college to make money.
    Money is out of my reach.
    It's lonely at the top.
    Who has that kind of money?
    He/she is only about the money.
    Those negative attitudes, Jen says, were holding her back. So she created a more positive script -- such as "I'm good at making money," and "Money is a tool that helps me live my best life." This attitude shift made all the difference.
    In today's interview, Jen describes her journey from broke to badass, and she explains how everyone can become more of a maverick at making money.
    Enjoy!

    I am literally listening to this as a 40 year old artist/musician/writer living in a converted garage. I was looking to repair my relationship with making money and this was the first video that popped up. You can't make this stuff up! I am so grateful :)

    I love it. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Do It Scared! Do It Broke! Do it Sad! Do It Right where you are! A quote Jen Said is, "To succumb to fear is the illusion that you can tell the future"

    I could tell the interviewer had a lot judgement around Jen stating that she borrowed money and used her credit card to get the coaching she needed. I'm so glad she didn't edit that part out like she says she was thinking of doing. Thinking inside the box is exactly what keeps people stuck and prolongs they're current situation. Having a fire under my ass, motivates me. Some people don't have 10 years to pay off a debt before they start working towards their dreams and goals. That is where faith and action comes in. This was a great interview. Thank you.

    I’ve heard Jen Sincero say her coach cost her $85,000. If that was a quarter of her annual income-she was already making $340,000 yearly. That doesn’t really seem like she was broke to me.

    • @AliThompsonMarketing
      @AliThompsonMarketing 5 років тому +9

      Have you read her book? This isn't the coach for $85,000, she hired a lower cost coach first from what I remember. Then she upgraded to the $85,000 coach which she borrowed money from a friend for.

    • @StephaniRoberts
      @StephaniRoberts 3 роки тому

      I love this book. That’s the reason it’s so relatable because she was literally scraping by. She had one less expensive coach, maybe $2-10K, I don’t think she says exactly, before she took the leap and made the decision to hire the extremely expensive coach and *find* a way to pay for her. The Audible book is incredible. Definitely recommend it for her humor and comedic timing.

    • @Vimarobabooks
      @Vimarobabooks 3 роки тому +1

      @@StephaniRoberts I love this book and I love Jen sincero. But to present even 2000$ on a coach as a feasible option for many people is unrealistic and fairly dismissive.

    • @StephaniRoberts
      @StephaniRoberts 3 роки тому +2

      @@Vimarobabooks I totally get that. Whatever the amount that feels too much, her message is to break through that and ask “how can I get it?” I think something finally clicked in her and it was something she knew she needed to make things change in her life. She knew it on a visceral level and was willing to risk all kinds of things to make it happen.
      I agree though that it doesn’t feel within reach for most. Pretty sure everyone has their “click” moment where we finally push ourselves out of our comfort zones. I’ve been there.

    Just heard of Jen Sincero today. Great interview and great info. Then I looked at her Instagram account. I get the feeling she is a socialist / liberal. Maybe I'm wrong. But I wonder what she thinks about the coming socialist regime that now is in the White House. And what someone with their own business thinks about these people dipping into their pockets even deeper. I mean, hey. Price of gas is up one dollar since the Inauguration. Plus inflation has increased. Just wondering.
