LOL Trekguy66! I'm a granddad and I guarantee you, when I buy these, it's for me and everyone will know it haha. I may get some for the boys, we'll see.
I swear Norm is one of the best interviewers on the planet. Always pays attention and asks interesting questions and makes points that move the conversation forward and relates the product to industry stuff and other topics. Top notch every time, not missing the ginger dude's bland, flat interviews: "oh wow!" "that's really cool!" "*cringy joke*
Norm can be annoying AF to be honest. Sometimes (quite often) he awnsers the question in the question. "So how do you do X? Do you *explains everything*?" The person he interviews can just basicly say "Yes..".
Sometimes that can be a good technique though. Not necessary in this case, as the person being interviewed was charming and eloquent. Note how Norm just stood back and let him get on with it. Then, once he had reached a conclusion, Norm gave him a brief question to set him going again. Other times though he is dealing with people who may not be too good in front of the camera. Or the piece is going overlong. In which case it can be a good call to get the information to us succinctly, by Norm anticipating the facts. Getting that 'yes' turns it from supposition into us knowing how the thing works. Granted other interviewers have the knack for guiding an interviewee, and helping them to shine. That just is not Norm's style. He is after the technical facts. Which is good for this job.
I love Jeff's reaction when asked about people making their own parts.. unsure if this would be a bad marketing move.. haha lovely to see the honesty and enjoyment he has when realising people would probably love it even more that way. I'm interested, totally hope my local retailer for stuff like this is gonna buy it.
they could have maker contests to submit designs to be included in future kits...no doubt there will be many who have access to a 3D printer and the programming skills will augment their own kits as needed
they are on amazon now, I bought 5 sets for my son. Pretty solid product now, easy for him to build ships of any shape that already have a great scifi look. I look forward to more kits coming out.
I absolutely love this concept theres so much potential for play. I could also see this being super cool to make some sort of table top game around where you upgrade your vehicles mid-game.
I just saw that Snap Ships have started production. They have a small storyline and a first wave... I already bought one of the kits and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Cool thing about this is that it will be the way real ships are built in the future. Modular units which can be combined into different shapes depending on what's needed.
I always find the AR vlike tasb;ery gimmicky and it is rarely used. What this would be great for is a X-Wing like tabletop where you can build you own ships in.
Man I haven't heard the term kit bashing in a long time, it makes me think of my grandfather and his model railroad, I miss him a lot he liked Sci fi too
omg SOME should pay this guy and release to the market i want one and i hope bandia will see this and make thier gundams modular also :) i wish you good luck mate!!!!!!
Fantastic idea, great for people who still role play with systems like Mark Millers Traveller, and Gary Gynax's Dungeons and Dragons. Folks can make models for use on hex grid or regular grid paper maps. This needs to be augmented reality game play. You got a great idea.👍
I love Snap Ships! The concept is soo cool! I really wish more people got into it. They use to sell Snap Ships at my local Super Market and Target, but I guess they werent selling enough, because they took them completely off the shelves and so now I can only get these on Amazon. 😢
I guess there'd be licensing issues but it'd be nice if something like this could be used to make models of ships from stuff like Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous. Maybe release the STL files for the connecting parts of the blocks and then allow people to custom-design the exterior surfaces?
They should get a license with Star Wars and/or Star Trek and also sell kits of the ships from those universes (like how Lego does) and then people could also make whatever they want with them. Very cool product.
Awesome to see they have an app to go with the models, I was looking at this stuff from a tabletop gamer's view aswell. Could definitely see a skirmish system built around the number of cores per team.
"Crowdsourcing would be cool. They'd just have to follow certain rules so it all works together... or not. I guess they bought it. If they want to mess it up, have fun!" Spoken like a true modder.
This is very cool looking idea, and just imagine if when they really get rolling they start to make mech -type pieces so you could make robot/walker style vehicles
I like this idea, given the right marketing this could be the next football stickers or Pogs, every school kid could have pocket full of bits to build ships and swap parts with mates. Proper money spinner!
It reminds me of Robotix...I would love to look into trying to do some mech designs with them Maybe we might see some more mech designs in future releases.
J S nah dude. Just an indentation on the underside can work fine. I've built a lot of model kits. Some have a similar part as what im describing and they pull out fine
Nice bloke with a good attitude, I wish him luck
I would absolutely buy that for my kid (and then keep it for myself!) This is too awesome.
Yes, exactly.
I think he gets a bad rap. He's trying to accomplish something that's never been been done in the history of the galaxy. Rule everything!?
LOL Trekguy66! I'm a granddad and I guarantee you, when I buy these, it's for me and everyone will know it haha. I may get some for the boys, we'll see.
If this had been out when I was a kid, it would be my favorite toy. Well done!
Would make an awesome board game as opponents could blast parts off your ship etc
It's called Galaxy Trucker
I like it. Perhaps with an added element of expanding your ship as you play, too.
These guys tried, a bit simpler. www.kickstarter.com/projects/1883062146/mech-deck/description
Pob brett one can be designed around them perhaps
Thats a great fucking idea though damn
That's true. I've been playing around with making some sort of ftl inspired board game, but never really gotten anywhere.
I swear Norm is one of the best interviewers on the planet. Always pays attention and asks interesting questions and makes points that move the conversation forward and relates the product to industry stuff and other topics. Top notch every time, not missing the ginger dude's bland, flat interviews: "oh wow!" "that's really cool!" "*cringy joke*
thats's really cool! (btw, he's Will and he is abit aggressive in podcast too, always interrupt Norm and Adam with his brain freeze stutter)
Oh wow! Not trying to troll here but LOLz the hate runs deep for that guy, so sad :( ... But to each his or her own, no that's really cool :D!
Norm can be annoying AF to be honest. Sometimes (quite often) he awnsers the question in the question. "So how do you do X? Do you *explains everything*?" The person he interviews can just basicly say "Yes..".

The reason why Norm is good at social skills is because he is nice and gentle and cares about the person he interviews, unlike your apathetic comment.
YES TO SNAP MECHS (in addition to the snap ships). These are great!
Good point though one obstacle would be the $3000 price tag for a quality 3D printer would keep most people from printing their own parts.
Jack_K2 but that kindof goes without saying if your into printing anyway, so that's a non-issue.
200$ Monoprice can print these with no issues
they could have maker contests to submit designs to be included in future kits...no doubt there will be many who have access to a 3D printer and the programming skills will augment their own kits as needed
they are on amazon now, I bought 5 sets for my son. Pretty solid product now, easy for him to build ships of any shape that already have a great scifi look. I look forward to more kits coming out.
It's nice to see a guy who is genuinely exited with what he's doing. Nice one!
Mechs would be dope with these!
Like titanfall/gundam esque humanoid mechs 👌👌👌
They just introduced their first "mech" in the line. It's not much but it's a start.
Definitely something I'll be keeping an eye out for
Let's be real, this guy was playing kerbal and started looking at his 3d printer.
also kinda remind me like making the gummi ships in Kingdom Hearts
jebediah May survive with a ship like these.....
Ok, probably not.
Thread- more like space engineers
OR Crossout or any other game where you build your own vehicle.
I was thinking exactly this, except I was thinking he was playing StarMade.
I absolutely love this concept theres so much potential for play. I could also see this being super cool to make some sort of table top game around where you upgrade your vehicles mid-game.
This comment aged outstandingly. :p
Jeff seems like a great dude with great ideas, I am loving that snap-mech idea too
I just saw that Snap Ships have started production. They have a small storyline and a first wave... I already bought one of the kits and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Great potential here, what passion. I hope lots of kids (and adults) get to play with this.
Cool thing about this is that it will be the way real ships are built in the future. Modular units which can be combined into different shapes depending on what's needed.
I so totally love this idea! Lego is fun, but these ships look more refined, less blocky. I'm decently going to give this a shot.
I always find the AR vlike tasb;ery gimmicky and it is rarely used. What this would be great for is a X-Wing like tabletop where you can build you own ships in.
Maybe fans can come up with that after these are released.
Now there's SNAP SHIPS: TACTICS!
That looks like a winner. I Would buy some. I am a scale modeler and the possibilities would be endless.
I think Norm might have given them some new ideals.
This is the direction I had hoped Stikfas woulda got to, but better. Very cool
I had this idea 2 years ago! So glad to see it in real life, hope it succeeds
This is a great freaking idea, and as Norm was saying, has huge potential. That AR app was also super impressive. Well done!
They are going to make a huge amount of money when someone buys hundreds of thousands of pieces to make a Star Destroyer.
when adam does you mean
Man I haven't heard the term kit bashing in a long time, it makes me think of my grandfather and his model railroad, I miss him a lot he liked Sci fi too
looks like better space lego
I am looking forward to this SO MUCH...
Brings back memories of when I used to build mini starfighters and space stations with Lego bricks in the late 1970's.
This is absolutely awesome.
If I was a little kid I would FREAKING LOVE THIS!
Such a dope concept!
Gamer Voice i am 46 and i love this. I would buy it.
Very good business idea, awesome concept
GUYS! Where were you in my childhood? My younger solf would have built you the ultimate ship!
Hell yeah! I want a whole big box of these!
only ONE big box? try ten or more
This looks awesome ant wait to play with these
Jeff seems like champ!!!! Id so buy this to play at work.
Hope it happens and will be available in Australia!
These look super cool!
This sounds beautiful
Very cool concept and designs. Love it!
2 years later, here they are!
This is really awesome. Great job!
I'm amazed this hasn't been bought by a major toy company. It's a great concept!
This is a really genius idea. I can see the toy commercials already.
omg SOME should pay this guy and release to the market i want one and i hope bandia will see this and make thier gundams modular also :) i wish you good luck mate!!!!!!
Give a set to Adam to build/kit bash and paint. Instant hype...
Fantastic idea, great for people who still role play with systems like Mark Millers Traveller, and Gary Gynax's Dungeons and Dragons.
Folks can make models for use on hex grid or regular grid paper maps.
This needs to be augmented reality game play.
You got a great idea.👍
He could wind up a millionaire. That's one of the best looking toy products i've seen in a long time.
I love Snap Ships! The concept is soo cool! I really wish more people got into it. They use to sell Snap Ships at my local Super Market and Target, but I guess they werent selling enough, because they took them completely off the shelves and so now I can only get these on Amazon. 😢

Maybe release the STL files for the connecting parts of the blocks and then allow people to custom-design the exterior surfaces?
He's going to have to give Norm a percentage now.
They should get a license with Star Wars and/or Star Trek and also sell kits of the ships from those universes (like how Lego does) and then people could also make whatever they want with them. Very cool product.
This is like a modern Zoids. Like it!
These look awesome!
oh I can't wait to step on one of them,, and you thought a lego was bad, these will leave some interesting scars.
Awesome to see they have an app to go with the models, I was looking at this stuff from a tabletop gamer's view aswell. Could definitely see a skirmish system built around the number of cores per team.
I want this in my life. I NEED IT SO BADLY.
Since I saw this I have bought 7 of them. Going for 8 soon
I hope I get some of these for Christmas.
"Crowdsourcing would be cool. They'd just have to follow certain rules so it all works together... or not. I guess they bought it. If they want to mess it up, have fun!"
Spoken like a true modder.
The work is awesome and the dude sounds super nice haha
Love this. I want this for Robot figures as well.
you'll see that one as well eventually
I'd definitely pick these up.
Tie fighter wings. Love it.
This is a really good idea!
I love this product as a middle aged adult!
This is very cool looking idea, and just imagine if when they really get rolling they start to make mech -type pieces so you could make robot/walker style vehicles
looks fun and has alot of potential 👍
This is the best thing i ever seen today, omg i would be it right away.
That’s looks amazing!!!
Really interesting idea!
Imagine a full tabletop game with this
That's actually pretty neat, I would get a set
Snapships + Drones !!
So cool!
this is Great. I would love to paint up the parts and then watch my kids mash them up into the craziest of ships.
Could make a cool "deck building" style table top game.
OH THIS LOOKS SO COOL I NEED IT I NEED IT NOWWWWW
Yes! I've been waiting for this review! :D
This is incredible. will be looking into crowd funding
I like this idea, given the right marketing this could be the next football stickers or Pogs, every school kid could have pocket full of bits to build ships and swap parts with mates. Proper money spinner!
This kind of system would be awesome in No Man's Sky, being able to modify and customise your ship as you want
Very cool I like it. I'd love to build some ships whilst I work! Haha.
Since they omitted it from the description... here is their official website! snapships.com !
would love this loads
this looks cool!
It's basically a physical version of the game A&B Space (Assembly and Battle)
Real life space engineers!
never thought I would be this excited about toys in my 30s.
That’s pretty cool. Username related for the first time in like 6 years.
This is fantastic
It reminds me of Robotix...I would love to look into trying to do some mech designs with them Maybe we might see some more mech designs in future releases.
Looks like great fun !
I hope jeff designs a flat panel piece to cover those janky unused core holes on the sides of the ships
It looked like they had a couple on top. Not entirely flat, but pretty close. You can see them on the engines at 2:22
Edi Soriano: I was thinking along the same lines - need a little plug that fits nearly flush. Maybe hard to get back out, though.
forgotn1 yeah but i think it would need a really flat one. I.e. to cover the hole beside the gun on 0:28
J S nah dude. Just an indentation on the underside can work fine. I've built a lot of model kits. Some have a similar part as what im describing and they pull out fine
just use clay... lol
Cool! gonna go build stuff in KSP now
Omg i neeeeeeeeeed thaaaaaaaaaat!!!
So these are the early version of what people have today. Wonder if we would see some of the parts we saw here in future sets.
Scaled up version of Kevin Sacherman's Shipbuilder stl files...very cool...I'll fund...
As former battlefleet gothic warp rift editor in Chief I highly approve. :)
it needs a boardgame!
I need these
