a little trick for scratches, dip a blunt side of a blade (exactoknife will do) into paint (black brown copper chrome) and just slide it across stuff, catching the edges of detail etc.
@@Jack_Wolfe Well, that's getting added to my list of mini painting tips to try.
Adam Savage’s Tested does weta sell kits for making your own?
Who does the music for your videos? It’s awesome in it’s balance, timing, and mood. I get the impression that someone in a studio somewhere is composing these custom *for* the videos. I wonder how much it costs?
To right you should look into Warhammer 40k and there paint with contrast and inks wash your going to learn how to paint nice build there!.
Adam Savage - The Bob Ross of one day builds
Man, I would have loved to have seen Bob Ross paint a giant killer robot.
ZeikJT it just bee a happy little secret tree down in the corner. :)
TWO happy giant killer robots, because everybody needs a friend.
(hmmm... there's a photoshop opportunity here...)
Great unconventional ASMR vid!
"we might just put a little greeblie right over here, put as many as you want, it's your kit"
Every happy little antenna needs a friend.
Damien Anims you know you can delete your comment
Bob?
@Furio I thought he just died... it happened 25 years ago.
1:50 I love how happy Adam gets. Seems like the dude would really enjoy gunpla.
A visionary
If they sold boxes of these parts they would probably sell better than the actual game
The kickstarter had the option to get an unassembled set of the big giant robots.
I don't know if they sell as an option them now they've gone retail though.
I sooo want a box of these....... wish i could buy loads of them
I think also that it would be nice for hobby model builders.
$215 dollars excluding tax. Get a PDF of the rules online and a model kit each and you and your friends could play the game with your own models at a much better price
get a gunpla
*Adam was giving off some serious Bob Ross vibes at **10:23*
that's instantly what I though when he got to it
I think that was the intention.
Next we'll add some cerulean blue... XD Great build!
"let's add a happy little stain of dirt!"
Thought exactly that
"You could make them any color you want" - Adam Ross or Bob Savage OR Savage Ross!!
Ross Savage
but with an accent - Ross Saváge
no, no, no: Bob Adam.
I didn't go that way because I actually have two friends with that name. :D
Savage Bob...
As someone that grew up around heavy machinery (dad is a mechanic), I love the color choice here because it really reminds me of a piece of John Deere construction equipment. And I'm pretty sure that in a dystopian setting, John Deere would absolutely get into the robot game. It's not nearly as big a step as one would think, since robots would be used a lot in construction and such.
This may be the first time I've seen Adam wear a respirator while painting. It gave me a warm, happy feeling.
I thought I was listening to Bob Ross when you were talking about the antenna color.
Wes Brazwell That’s what I thought 😂
Damn. I was about to say the exact same thing.😀
Lol me to. Thought he was going to go full Ross mode. "Here's a happy little rust spot..."
yep..:D
I definitely too had a Bob Ross moment there too.
"Just painting a happy little giant killer robot."
I just bought some Imperial Knights (Warhammer) to give myself a creative outlet that wasn't work related.....just to give myself a little break from armoring. Now I can't pull myself away from painting!
For the Emperor
Any Warhammer 40k fan is a friend of mine!
i just got a a few spare bits from by astartes packs so im going to make a a custom space marine from my custom chaos chapter
I want more of these! Such a great I sight into Adam’s creativity and modeling skill. How fun!
2:00 is a great explanation of why I also love building with LEGO. People complain that the modern pieces are too specified, but I think that there’s nothing more satisfying than using the arm of a crane and the afterburner of a jet to build a mechanical leg
A good tip is to use a filter when sanding resin, it's not a thing you want to be breathing.
Also blue tac is great for posing models before gluing.
Yeah I thought the same on the blue or white tac it's great for that purpose.
Or old school holding your model together when you were too young to buy glue haha
Thank you for opening up a whole new world of model making for me. Apart from your obvious very high skill levels and huge experience , it’s so good to see the joy it still brings you.
Cheers to Adam, Tested and all of the people out there who kept themselves creative throughout 2020. Here's to the New Year and keep on making stuff!
I love your enthusiasm, kit bashing is an art form. Great video!
I love watching these ODB. Especially the model making ones. I have been painting minis since '92 and I am learning new paint techniques. Also I never thought to use styrene rods for pins for plastic kits, especially where the pin becomes a feature and not just a structural element. . I am a huge dry brusher and build up from a base coat with tiny layers that may even hit just a few links of chain, etc. I am def adding some Cue tips to my brush set.
The frequency at which these one day builds are being released is amazing! Keep up the good work Adam and the Tested staff!
This series got me into making things. Because Adam makes it all look so do-able, it got me into the garage playing with stuff and now I have a line of friends asking for custom wooden boxes... which look gorgeous i might add. the ability to create these beautiful things has helped me be more comfortable with who i am, and its thanks to adam savage and the guys from tested. Thank you so much
The Bob Ross of killer robots.
"Happy little homicidal robot."
That golem scream at the start 👌😂
Toasted Fan Art Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!
TechMechMen *ahh bleeehchh
AAAAAAEHCG
I also got a "Happy little antenna" vibe.

I just love the relationship you and the guys at Weta seem to have. It's really cool to see the way enthusiasts like yourself and them interact and the cool things you come up with.
I'm really happy with the one day builds you guys have been doing, I know you were going to do more and I'm very happy about it.
10:24 Adam channels the cosmic Bob Ross via the robot's antenna.
Replete Replete, dude I totally heard that. I was waiting for him to say something like and now we're going to paint the pretty little guns. LOL
7:47 Props for finally using a mask, Mr Savage!
I love aging and weathering. Whenever I watch someone build a prop or a model, I'm always especially looking forward to the weathering. With Adam, it's extra interesting because he describes his thought process, and why he's doing what he's doing, what he's imagining happened to result in this particular damage or wear.
I could watch Adam Savage make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
This. So much this.
Haha, same.
...entirely from styrene and plastic parts.
Loved every minute of this video!
I originally started watching tested thanks to Adams one day builds. Having grown up on Mythbusters this felt like a really natural continuation of his work. As I began to watch more, I began to thoroughly enjoy the Tested channel. Thank you Adam Savage for being a large part of my childhood, and helping steer me in the direction I've gone with schooling. And thank you Tested for continuing to showcase amazing values.
Adam is the only person i could watch build a model and be entertained.
I loved the Bob Ross reference, it gave me a good chuckle.
Adam is Bob Ross of model making. If it gets damaged then it just authentic.
I love the format of this video. Perfectly condensed. Great episode.
My grandfather used the same sander, I use it now, and used it for model making. I can remember being very young and hearing it going off in the garage. I used to watch and help him sort the parts.
The paint scheme he used reminds me of the loader from Aliens.
You may have everyone else fooled, Adam, BUT I KNOW BETTER! I KNOW THAT BOT IS JUST GENERAL GRIEVOUS WITH A DIFFERENT HEAD! I BET YOU HELPED DESIGNED HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE.
This is some of the best stuff I've seen on Tested.
It's like Bob Ross but with Kit-Bashing. Very relaxing to watch. And hugely entertaining.
That was an absolute joy to watch. Thanks for that.
FINALLY :> since the weta-trip Im waiting for this! And Im glad Im not the only one making weird noises when my hands screw up holding stuff!
EDIT: The TEST IT still makes me roll on the floor!!
10:22 is this Bob Ross?
Great build. I loved to see Adam get back to the basics. The time lapse music was great.
Precision looks so beautiful and how he does it's like an art form
Super work you just did here. excellent across the board.
Now build a Gundam for us!
YES! i really want to see him building Gunpla (Sazabi Ver.Ka?) haha
That was a real Bob Ross moment there at 10:22
6:13 Love the music used for this bit. Bass and drums. Organ comes in late. Very nice.
Loved watching the process to paint this. Thanks for creating :)
you have heard of a kid in the candy store ... well now there's an Adam in a resin model kit supply room ... and he has all the adhesive he wants to hand lol
when adam was painting the antenae didn't he sound like the guy with the puffy hair who did those paintings ... ... the antenae are black cuz they are but you can make them any colour you want ... line lol
Love me some Bob Ross in the morning!!
Adam is an amazing host because he is so enthusiastic about the things, something that is missing from a lot of other hosts. I happily watch Adam do his thing, even though i never nor will i ever build models, but watching him work and explain things is always a pleasure. My god i want to spend a week with this guy, just building random things.
Very inspiring ... now I have enough energy to do my own builds again... thanks Adam
2:23 hehe "resin-ate"
* closes door gently as he leaves *
Lmao, glad to see im not the only one whose brain always picks up on dumbass puns 😂
raisin-eight?
A bit in embarrassing, always thought Kit-Bashing was a group of friends gathered around to mock Knight Rider!
Hey knight rider was the shit
That's KITT-bashing. It sounds the same when you say it out loud
Michael they are talking bad about me again.
Thms Channel I am the night rider you see me now toe cutter
All Fear the Knight Rider...oops wrong movie ref..
Cool! I had a great time and greatly miss my special fx model making class at Academy of Art in SF. Loved the kit bashing part and still have a few of what I made at home.
Love the one-day builds. And I'm a big fan of kit bashing. I've done it myself a little when making some military gaming kits.
4:26 "OH, You are wondering what this is?"
NOP! I'm wondering what's in the Amazon box on the floor! :D
Got some Bob Ross vibes there around 10:22 haha
This was so satisfying to watch. Out of chaos comes art.
Thank you Adam. Still entertaining after all these years.
10:21 he sounded like Bob Ross
I was thinking the same thing!
I think it's intentional.
You don’t say?
I think that was the point.
OMG, HE DOES!
Adam and painting have a very Bob Ross vibe.
Damn I love watching adam work. I don't even like building stuff but i could watch this man create for hours.
I love this dudes enthusiasm, I wish I got excited for simple things
Can you please post links to the tools used, in the show notes? You could even do Amazon links and make money. Would love to know what airbrush model, paintbrush and paint brands (I know you say acrylic), etc.
Brian Flores , I second that motion,
Brian Flores i know the airbrush is a passhe H. and he has a gravity feed cup attached you can buy that for 10 bucks. the whole thing is pretty cheap
Would love to know what the bottle paints are that he used
plasticbutcher idk what exactly he used but any kind of model paint will do the job fine then use model wash
Bradley Thorne What's model wash? Cool. I will have to look into that. Also what is more preferred. Acrylic (water based) or Enamel (Oil based?.
Nice Bob Ross impression!
Hugely inspiring and entertaining as always! Thanks for the video guys.
Man, he is a gifted builder, and a very very gifted model builder.
Adam savage is the Bob Ross of today's generation.
I couldn't recognize him because of the blue arm!
Silly droid, you must’ve gotten your memory wiped.
The editor really killed it on this one. Kudos! Love the build too!
Love the kitbashing! Mr. Savage more modeling and kitbashing, please! It may become a dying art!
Adam just built General Grevious....lol
jedifyfe general grevious; with guns
If General Grevious and a Minion had a baby
It will make a fine addition to WETA's collection.
This is the comment I was looking for!
Hello There
Are spray paint things like that pretty accessible/affordable? I feel like I'd mess with models a lot more if that first layer of paint wasn't 10,000 brush strokes.
Do you mean an airbrush? If so, you should be able to find a good starter one pretty cheaply. You'll need a small air compressor or cans of compressed air though.
Hm, would a compressor small enough for that sort of application still be as loud as a normal air compressor? Or I mean just loud in general? I assume it wouldn't be AS loud.
You can get some pretty small ones that would definitely be quieter than a general air compressor. You dont have to have the compressor running while you paint, only need to turn it on to fill the tank but the smaller you go though the more likely you are to need to refill the tank constantly while using it, at least with a bigger one or moderately sized one you can turn it on, let it fill and then a full tank should be more than enough to do all your small airbrushing needs. Perhaps you could even take it outside while the compressor is on and bring it in to your painting area once the air tank is at capacity.
spray cans easy to find ... especially in white and black .... spray guns ... mostly art type shops and similar places ... they can be cheap and they can be very expensive ... even ebay and craigs list or kijjiji would have them from time to time .... great way to save money and get a half way decent one and find out if you can learn to use it well enough to satisfy your own desires
Put it this way, if you just want to use them for priming, etc. and you had to ask, then, they may be too much money. Then again, maybe you have a lot of money. In any case, a good airbrush and everything you need for model painting may be $200 or something, although you can do it for less. I don't see it really being possible for less than $100, though and I don't think you would need to go over $250. If that helps. :)
Adam Savage, the Bob Ross of Kit bashing, gentle wonderful video!
As someone who enjoys putting together custom GI Joes from the 80s and 90s, I found this one to be inspirational and empowering
10:20: Did Adam just channel Bob Ross?
I work for Harbor Freight, glad you like the sander.
Steveo Brandon what sander is it? Can't find it anywhere
looks like its been discontinued and replaced with a combo unit.
Adam always does these weathered paint jobs on stuff and they always look amazing. I would LOVE to see what a "pristine" paint job looks like. Something that's designed to look shiny, new, and unused.
Thanks for still being a super cool inspiration Adam Savage !
Resin.
40k nightmares. :(
Hope they used a good resin.
When I pin. I cut a paperclip.
And it your robot, you can have as many antennae as you want. There...
Memosh y
Awesome work as always, Adam. We're inspired to go kit-bash our own robots this weekend.
You're my hero Adam! You're living the life I've always wanted!
Was adam doing an impression of bob ross
I really wish these things are articulated.
Yeah that'd be sweet, like a gundam kit. Maybe they'll release some articulated ones down the line?
You can make them articulated! Make some joints using styrene rods or use option parts from Gundam kits.
so many ways you could make them posable ... even firm bendable wire and use that as the pins in some joints and you could reset them on occasion as well .. even use a dremel tool or similar item and make a cog surface inside the joint and fashion your own cog insert with a piece of wire then you can pose it any cog position.
well just kitbash gundam kits to look like those mechanical mechs
You can magnetize it to make it so.
I love how he gets so hyped even for small stuff like this
great content and quality video output encreases steadily from tested . thanks for that
That mini disc sander would be perfect for grinding down guitar bridges. Hmmm (internet search begins).
The Dank Farmer www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chicago-4-Electric-Disc-Sander-/173291867714
Actually if you search for '4" disc sander' there's plenty of options.

@CringeKid Accurate, is it not? 11 people mishearing it
Thats awsome looking, I really hope to see it in an expansion one day.
Outstanding one day build thanks for sharing
Hey Adam could you please build the vfd spyscope from the Netflix series a series of unfortunate event's with all the things that we know of so far that's on the show like the flashlight/that thing where there comes a red heat beam if possible/and that you could move the 4 rings so it would click and and work like in the show If possible where you move the 4 rings to see the incoded massages through the lens .All the working components on the outside like the compass as we'll as the simbols in coded on the 4 rings and the handle when you pull it out o and it is all different languages please make it so that it could spilt in to parts as in the series. And when you look through the scope the are these drawings you move with the rings and make it with would and somthing hard and durable please and give it some nice wight you should make it because no one is making a vfd scope and I doubt that Netflix would release one thank you!
like Bob Ross with less hair and more moaning.
Never get tired of this video. Confidence booster(Savage Boost) in a sense.
I love this game it is so much fun. it was awesome to see Adam do his version of a GKR
Cameraman!!!! WHY YOU NO GET SUPER CLOSEUP SHOTS OF MAKING PROCESS?!?! YOU TOO FAR AWAY!!
I love this channel always, but this was probably one of my favorite episodes. Adam and Frank should do this together sometime and do spaceships
Looks like a lot of fun. Amazing talent Adam.
love watching you work like this!!!
These videos got me into model building, I've enjoyed it do much!
