      a little trick for scratches, dip a blunt side of a blade (exactoknife will do) into paint (black brown copper chrome) and just slide it across stuff, catching the edges of detail etc.

    As someone that grew up around heavy machinery (dad is a mechanic), I love the color choice here because it really reminds me of a piece of John Deere construction equipment. And I'm pretty sure that in a dystopian setting, John Deere would absolutely get into the robot game. It's not nearly as big a step as one would think, since robots would be used a lot in construction and such.

    I love watching these ODB. Especially the model making ones. I have been painting minis since '92 and I am learning new paint techniques. Also I never thought to use styrene rods for pins for plastic kits, especially where the pin becomes a feature and not just a structural element. . I am a huge dry brusher and build up from a base coat with tiny layers that may even hit just a few links of chain, etc. I am def adding some Cue tips to my brush set.

    I love aging and weathering. Whenever I watch someone build a prop or a model, I'm always especially looking forward to the weathering. With Adam, it's extra interesting because he describes his thought process, and why he's doing what he's doing, what he's imagining happened to result in this particular damage or wear.

    Are spray paint things like that pretty accessible/affordable? I feel like I'd mess with models a lot more if that first layer of paint wasn't 10,000 brush strokes.

    • @jimmygrey6848
      @jimmygrey6848 6 років тому +4

      Do you mean an airbrush? If so, you should be able to find a good starter one pretty cheaply. You'll need a small air compressor or cans of compressed air though.

    • @AbbreviatedReviews

      Hm, would a compressor small enough for that sort of application still be as loud as a normal air compressor? Or I mean just loud in general? I assume it wouldn't be AS loud.

      You can get some pretty small ones that would definitely be quieter than a general air compressor. You dont have to have the compressor running while you paint, only need to turn it on to fill the tank but the smaller you go though the more likely you are to need to refill the tank constantly while using it, at least with a bigger one or moderately sized one you can turn it on, let it fill and then a full tank should be more than enough to do all your small airbrushing needs. Perhaps you could even take it outside while the compressor is on and bring it in to your painting area once the air tank is at capacity.

      spray cans easy to find ... especially in white and black .... spray guns ... mostly art type shops and similar places ... they can be cheap and they can be very expensive ... even ebay and craigs list or kijjiji would have them from time to time .... great way to save money and get a half way decent one and find out if you can learn to use it well enough to satisfy your own desires

      Put it this way, if you just want to use them for priming, etc. and you had to ask, then, they may be too much money. Then again, maybe you have a lot of money. In any case, a good airbrush and everything you need for model painting may be $200 or something, although you can do it for less. I don't see it really being possible for less than $100, though and I don't think you would need to go over $250. If that helps. :)

    Adam always does these weathered paint jobs on stuff and they always look amazing. I would LOVE to see what a "pristine" paint job looks like. Something that's designed to look shiny, new, and unused.

    • @MrNotgoth
      @MrNotgoth 6 років тому +2

      You can make them articulated! Make some joints using styrene rods or use option parts from Gundam kits.

    • @0623kaboom
      @0623kaboom 6 років тому +1

      so many ways you could make them posable ... even firm bendable wire and use that as the pins in some joints and you could reset them on occasion as well .. even use a dremel tool or similar item and make a cog surface inside the joint and fashion your own cog insert with a piece of wire then you can pose it any cog position.

    Hey Adam could you please build the vfd spyscope from the Netflix series a series of unfortunate event's with all the things that we know of so far that's on the show like the flashlight/that thing where there comes a red heat beam if possible/and that you could move the 4 rings so it would click and and work like in the show If possible where you move the 4 rings to see the incoded massages through the lens .All the working components on the outside like the compass as we'll as the simbols in coded on the 4 rings and the handle when you pull it out o and it is all different languages please make it so that it could spilt in to parts as in the series.And when you look through the scope the are these drawings you move with the rings and make it with would and somthing hard and durable please and give it some nice wight you should make it because no one is making a vfd scope and I doubt that Netflix would release one thank you!
