    I installed these on my Jackson and they made all the difference in tuning stability. Highly recommend these saddles for your standard trem equipped guitar.

    This guy looks like he's sixteen. I wish like hell I could've looked like that in my 20's. I bet he will look like he's in his late 20's when he's forty.. He also made a kickass video with a lot of informative information. And for that, I thank you. I'm looking forward to upgrading my guitar tuners. And possibly the bridge saddles. Take good care my good man. Peace.. Joe

    I put these on a 2021 PRS SE Custom 24 (ash top) and it was a great improvement. Stays in tune very well and gave the top end more sparkle. The guitar plays great.

      Do you think it will fit a PSC Custom 24 (core model)? Where did you buy the saddles? thanks

    Hi Marco, I have been researching these since they came out and there are few videos about them, yours which I just found being one of the better ones. I am now satisfied this is the way to go. I am currently using a PRS Custom 24 Floyd Rose but I done with the headache of keeping that bridge set up properly. Thank you so much for your insight on this product which I will credit for my moving to using them. Cheers!

      Hi, thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate it!
      I don't own guitars with the Floyd because I'm sure I'll be sick of it in 2mins :) Not that it isn't a good system, but it's not for me. But I love the tremolo so I was looking for a system like these Wilkinsons...
      The only thing I would say (as I wrote in the video), just pay attention to saddles hight. On a PRS with standard tremolo I think there'll be no troubles tho, since they should already have a Wilkinson bridge, and the saddles hight should be the same. (on a Fender bridge they're something around 0.02" higher than regular ones)
      Thanks again, best :)

      @@marcobaldimusic As of now, I have 3 guitars set up with these saddles, all three are Strats, one is with the saddles mounted on a Gotoh 510T, the other is on a Strat Deluxe as similar to yours, the other is on a custom built Warmoth Strat with a full Wilkinson tremolo with the same saddles. All work great! BTW, I ended up with two Gibson Les Paul Studio Shred models with the Floyd Rose units. They are set up excellently and stay in perfect tune. So for now, the Floyd Rose (only on those two guitars) gets a reprieve! lol!

    Great review, I'm thinking of upgrading the saddles of my strat to these as well, and they're currently AVAILABLE on their Reverb page now as I write this.
    Btw, did you use the clip on tuner to intonate it as well?

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  3 роки тому

      Thank you so much sir!
      I used the clip tuner for a raw adjustment. I usualy do intonate my guitars with an old analog Korg tuner, keeping the guitar in playing position... But there was no point for that to be in the video😄

    Probably the most informative video about these saddles yet; thank you so much. I wasn't even aware there were two versions.
    Though if you don't mind, how did you get hold of them? I've been monitoring Wilkinson's Reverb page and they've been out of stock since months. Have other stores started carrying them?
    Thanks

    • @marcobaldimusic

      Man I really appreciate you saying that, thank you so much!!
      Sure, I bought them on Reverb as you're trying to... On December I think. It was a long waiting for me too, because I wanted to buy them since September. Just be patient and keep an eye on their Instagram, they usually put it there when something is back in stock. But I assume it's normal that it'll take longer these days... Anyway to have an idea on the waiting time you can always contact Wilkinson through their Reverb page, they're really kind and they answer as soon as they can.
      Cheers! :)

    Hey Marco! where did you buy them, I can't find them online. Wilkinson direct only carry the offset model...

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  4 роки тому

      Hi Christian, I bought 'em from Wilkinson Direct few months ago (the standard ones were available too then...). Just be patient, I guess they're having some issues because of the lockdown and stuff... They usually put it on their Instagram when something is back in stock so maybe keep an eye on there. You can also contact Wilkinson through their Reverb page for more info on shipping time...
      Thanks, cheers :)

    • @marcobaldimusic

      It happened one time... Maybe try not to over-tighten the screw🤔

  • @donstanley9943
    @donstanley9943 3 роки тому +1

    Playing in a high gain setting would reveal more tuning issues maybe?
    With my stock saddles I can play clean and mask the tuning instability with certain bends and such and avoiding certain chords.
    So what I want to hear is very simple, someone with heavy gain play an open g chord, divebomb, and again play that open g chord.

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Don, thanks for stopping by!
      I don't fully agree. You don't need a high gain setting to hear all the imperfections, as a matter of fact with too gain and compression the notes become muddier and also the quality and timbre of the sound get lost... The Floyd Rose style bridge, for instance, is great for tuning stability, but lacks in sustain and overall tone quality. So this super-short clip meant to be a little demo not only for the tuning stability... By the way I chose to end with an Eadd9 because it contains a much wider range of intervals.
      But I get your point sir, and I will keep it in mind for future demos for sure!
      Thanks again for tuning in,
      best!

      my 2c, LOVE my strat, heres my personal trick for settg up MY strat, Ill get the INTONATION spot ON for 12th fret, THEN ill go to these frets in ORDER HI E to LOW E FRET n dial in the FRETTED NOTE PITCH INTONATION.... 17--15--19--17--17--17... Eric Johnson has a similar approach, If u play alot of LEAD This might help you...

      @telecasper 3 роки тому

    I love your Strat, especially that colour! Did you say it’s an American Deluxe and did you put that humbucker in yourself? I have a US Strat 2004, but I have tuning problems and I really can’t get on with the glossy neck. Maybe time to change it?

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks man, I'm glad you like it! :)
      In the video I said that the bridge is the American Deluxe, the guitar is actually an Ultra. Not the new ones, it's a series Fender made in the '90s with ebony fingerboard, roller nut, and active Lace Sensors... By the way, mine has serveral mods in it, from electronics to hardware and so (the humbucker is a Suhr SSH+).
      If you have tuning problems these saddles could be a good try... Anyway you also wanna make sure the bridge is working properly, the nut is good quality and well settled, good tuners, and so on, if that's not the case the saddles on their own won't solve your problem... But if you also feel uncomfortable with the neck maybe you should think to go for another guitar right? If that's the case I would definitely go for a Suhr, 100% 😉👍

      @simonc61 4 роки тому +2

      Marco Baldi Thanks for the reply, will check them out. I’ve got a Vintage Thomas Blug Strat as well which has all Wilkinson hardware and pups, they make good gear. I watched a video recently with Cory Wong (Vulfpeck) and he has the same colour Strat as yours but it’s a Highway One - more affordable than higher end Strats but he really rates them highly. I’m going to get my US set up and see how it feels then. Wish I could afford a Suhr! Your latest video has you playing a PRS, do you have a Suhr as well then? I haven’t seen you playing one?

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  4 роки тому

      No problem, thank you for tuning in! :)
      Yeah I get that! Something you can try on your Strat is to sand down the neck to get rid of that sticky, glossy finish. On that blue one I have that, so the back is natural wood which feels great (make sure to ask a good guitar tech to do that).
      Thanks for checking it out! I rarely use that PRS because I feel not so comfortable with the size of the neck and the body shape. But it really is a great guitar, that's why I can't take the decision and sell it.
      Actually I don't own a Suhr yet, but it's definitely gonna be my next purchase. I'm just looking for the right deal. I think I'll go for a Classic T, because I don't have a Telly anymore :))

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  Рік тому

      Not really… Those Fender Ultras from the 90s had a Floyd Rose bridge (not the famous locking one). The previous owner swapped it for the Fender American Deluxe which I really like!

    Try Babicz saddles..they are the ultimate..eliminates the saddles sitting on two tiny pin point height adjustment screws and allows the saddle to sit flush on the base plate which is a far superior transfer of tone and resonance, they offer a base plate for strats that once adjusted it tightens them together to achieve that "Locking Saddle" effect but l bought just the saddles and once set, they do not move. Super quality, super function. But 6 saddles runs around $80-$100. They are beautiful, look like no other saddle.

    • @marcobaldimusic
      @marcobaldimusic  3 роки тому

      I've never tried those but I'm sure they work great... By the way, as you said, there's the need for their base plate, and they might not look cool to everybody.
      But there's a lot of great stuff out there... Which is good for us!😄🎸

    • @Steinstra-vj7wl
      @Steinstra-vj7wl 3 роки тому

      Babicz may be good, but ugly.

    • @bluwng
      @bluwng 3 роки тому +2

      The tuning stability comes from locking the string to the saddles, Babicz doesn’t do this it locks the saddle in place so it won’t move and that function does not exist in the traditional looking plate they have only on the original design. You are confusing the design concepts.
