I hope Tia gets well soon. In case you didn't know Thailand is a "medical tourism hub in Asia". Meaning people from around the world come to Thailand for treatment especially from neighboring countries like Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Middle Eastern, and European too. So if you want to get it fix better do it here (in Thailand) first before you move to other places (country). At least it is affordable and efficient. What you pay ain't cheap but I don't want to alarm you but what that is a private hospital, you pay more but at least it is fast, you get to see specialist and service is good. Some friends recommended that hospital to us so that’s why went to that one. It was really nice how fast it was though so we can’t complain. In the US that same treatment would cost $2000-6000 not including medication.
Hope you get well soon! The Thai Medical System is one of the most effcient and cost-effective in the world which is why the country is known for its medical tourism to an extent!
Pretty impressive that you can just walk in and get a same day MRI. Would not happen in Canada unless you're in the NHL! Lucky for you. Wishing for good health for you!!
Why not? 1 team make the scan and the dokters see direct after it the pictures. it takes 15 minutes in total. IN europe, same day, same houre the results. They send it even to your local dokter. Cost 15€.

It’s very difficult to travel during this time indeed. Are you from Thailand? It seems things are starting to relax a bit. Hopefully you can do your motorcycle trip soon! 🙂
You will enjoy Maehongson round route for sure. I did the bicycle tour for this route for 7 days. The first time was 20 years ago. The last time was 15 years ago when I was 55, very fit and I biked up the highest peak Doi Inthanon 2565 meters above sea level, very hard and totally exhausting. Those were the days. In the old days, there were hardly any cafe along the route, but judging from several UA-camrs for the last few years, there are now plenty that you can rest and refresh with fresh coffee and cake.
I'm so impressed by their medical system. I'm ashamed to say it, but it seems way better there, than in Canada. We would've been waiting for 12 hrs. Not even exaggerating. So glad that it went smoothly for you Tia. Glad that you can heal!
Your smiles always made me smile. Glad to finally know that Tia's condition is not too serious. MRI cost around $300 which I think quite cheap. Actually private hospital service in Thailand is world class. However some few high class hospitals might charge very expensive which you should look up for info quite easily using google (you will ask yourself agsin snd again is this a hospitsl or 5-stars hotel room cause it is actually 5-stars). Enough wrote, wish Tia will be back with healthy back and make me hungry at midnight again and again. Looking forward to that. God bless ;)
It total different a hospital in states. I have to wait almost a month to see my Doctor for check up. In emergency case u can go to hospital but without insurance my wife paid $1500 to clean her little cut from accident.
Just some information Thailand Medical services are ranked quite highly in the world for cost and efficiency. The major difference from the US is that you don't have to drag yourself from the hospital to CVS or Walgreens to get your prescription, which in my option is quite tedious. Thai hospitals are a one stop shop in itself so you can get your prescribed drugs right after you pay at the hospital and go home, you don't have to struggle to find the nearest CVS or Walgreens etc... If you go to Hospitals in Bangkok (ie. Bumrungrad) they usually accept all major US insurance (ie. Blue Cross/Blue Shield etc...) you can do a claim with these insurances but you pay first and clear later when back in the US. As a final note, Thai hospitals as you go to the larger well known and established ones (ie. Samithivej, Bangkok Hospital etc..) tend to look like a mall with everything in it from Starbucks, 7-11, and some other form of convinces to cater to your every needs. Hope this helps. Cheers.
It’s really a huge contrast to the US! We were very surprised at how efficient and convenient everything was. Even setting cost aside, the Thai hospital still seemed better. I think our favorite part was that the appointment time indicated was the actual time that Tia got to see the doctor. In the US, you schedule an appointment for 1+ weeks out and then show up to your appointment 15 minutes early… only to wait an hour for the doctor to actually see you.
I'm praying that rest and those meds will get her back on her feet. My friend has that issue with her back. She is doing physical therapy and has those meds. You guys be easy; you take care of that young lady. 👊😎
I think you have a good approach to this situation of pain in the back, and doing research beforehand. I would also read reviews online to confirm from various sources. When having certain issues I thought this hospital would be a good option as well. Currently I have something similar in my back and I'm in TH. This video came up on my feed which is coincidental. Because my experience with this type of low back pain isn't anything new, as I've had it happen periodically for years, I understand I need to patiently wait it out. But I can really understand the need to want a solution faster when the body wants to take its time in healing, so I'm currently shuffling along as best as I can for a few days.
Hi guys, I’m proud of you going to the hospital, it must have been quite daunting, especially since Thailand is not your home country ofcourse ( eventho the medical system, in general, is very good!) you mentioned it might have been (a) bulging disc(s), glad you have got an answer now and got meds to try and sort it out! Well done for not going tithe chiropractic yet (although maybe for later it might be good for appraising your posture). More yoga might help as well maybe? All In all, you must have been in quite a lot of pain, and it’s not nice to see your partner in pain at all. Take it easy, find a nice hotel with comfy (but not too soft ;) matrasses, good loungers and Please don’t do the loop until you feel loads better. Meds might give a false security and we are happily here to wait untill your next adventures begins for sure. You guys take it slow and recuperate! ☀️
Thank you so much for the kind words, and sorry I am so late at replying to this 😊 I’ve been doing yoga 2-3 times a day and it has really done wonders!
I second how great Thai health care is! I got a trapped nerve in my neck in Samui and got fantastic care. And the cost was miniscule in comparison with the USA.
Glad you (Tia) went to get proper medication. From my experience with slipped disc years ago, swimming helps a lot to build up the back muscle and relief the pain. Speedy recovery. Love to your smiles.
Omg, what do mean you're American. I thought you were Canadian 😂🤦🏾♀️. I'm glad your experience went well at the hospital. I've had very mixed experiences in CNX, and really appreciated the competency & efficiency at Bangkok. Great if you have insurance, not so great if you're paying out of pocket. 🤐. Wishing you a speedy recovery Tia, so you can get back to feeling your best again! 🤗
Ha! Why did you think we were Canadian? 🙂 We’ve heard Bangkok has one of the best hospitals in the world. Even so, we were very happy with the doctors in Chiang Mai 😊
I root for Tia with all my heart! Hope you get well very soon and thank you for trusting our hospitals. 🙏🇹🇭 Anyway 10700 thb for Thai like me makes my eyes pop out because we usually go to the gov hospitals with our free medical card (called THE GOLD CARD). The quality of our gov hospital doctors are similar to the private ones. Only medicines that change. (Cheap vs Expensive medicines). We Thais never make appointments with doctors, we are so accustomed with “walk-in”. So the western hospital protocols (appointments only and wait for a week) are the puzzle for us.
Yeah you go in without an appointment but you have to go at 6am and wait all day. Some people don't get seen if they're too late. Government healthcare isn't great and only better if you pay the insurance. Also the government hospital is nothing compared to private. I'm guessing you're a wealthy Thai.
@@SmallManBigWorldGlobal I make a decent living but my mom was a civil officer so she went to the gov hospital like Rama, Chulalongkorn or Siriraj. The doctors there are Prof. doctors. Par excellence. My mom had ovary cancer and we paid only 2000 US for all surgery. I went to Bamrungraj just because my friend took me there, I didn’t feel much different service (beside the bills of SONOGRAM😅😂).
Happy that you got some answers. Back injury is no joke. Keep up those smiles. I miss Thailand so much and watching your videos just takes me back :-)... Take it easy the next couple of days but don't stop the videos 👌
I have just discovered your channel! So sorry if im commenting all over the place! My children were born in BKK (Aussie living in Thailand at the time). When people find out they cautiously ask how that experience was for me, expecting a horror story. Are you kidding? The hospital had all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel, especially my private room. There was a fast food restaurants floor and a fine dining floor. For the delivery a whole team of highly qualified medical specialists attended, including the paediatrician who then continued the care of my kids as they grew up. All of the equipment was state of the art. And with health insurance i didnt pay a single baht. A friend who didn't have health insurance and who had complications paid US$2k but that also included all of the obgyn appointments throughout.
Chiang Mai Ram Hospital is one of the a good private hospital in Chiang Mai. I went to get RT-PCR test there for a covid travel certificate. Quick and friendly service and the test result arrived within the same day at no extra cost.
Get well soon Tia & take your time! I had to visit a Thai hospital twice in all those years. A motocycle accident in Pai and a Tonsil infection (bot used to airco) in BKK. Both experiences have been amazing & really been taken care off.
in Thailand if you go The hospital can see a doctor right away. But not in America, seeing a doctor only requires an appointment. This is the advantage of Thailand that foreigners like to come here for medical treatment. I know because a lot of Americans have come.
Sorry you are having to go through this. I am not sure but that looks exactly like the hospital I went to once. Wow they where very professional and got treated right away. Nothing serious but involved an xray and consult and meds. Came to about $65. When you take the bike trip maybe you can get one of those elastic back support wide belts that workers wear. anyway relax and rest the back.
It's the Ram Hospital in Chiang Mai, is that the same one? You're right they are so professional and fast. Good idea on the elastic back support! We hadn't thought of that 🙂
Another options of Hospital in Chiang Mai, I do prefer Bangkok Hospital and Sripat Hospital. Chiang Mai ram is also good one but it quite little bit pricey for me. when compare the same price range with Bangkok Hospital which offer more luxurious than Chiang Mai ram. Many famous doctors around Northern region of Thailand, They are vey professional, kind and very polite. I found many time that when I was in doctor's room for warp up "in hospital" they do kindly asking that can I afford for this expense? they provide many option for me. no need to pay for pricey price in fancy hospital. Surprisingly that when s/he told me like this a lovely nurse always laugh and say " I heard nothing khaa." this is happen to me 3-4 time in 2021. I do live in good country, and I still believed that vast majority of people still care for other more than money..... BTW, hope Tia getsbetter!
We think Thailand should be very proud. The medical system here is much better than America or some other countries. It was really amazing how we were treated in the hospital. The doctor also did the same thing and asked if the price was OK which was really, really nice and polite 😊
I have the same exact issue after i hard fell on my back few years ago. The problem resurfaces every 6 months to a year depending on if i did some kind of lifting or bending that causes herniated disc. Problem usually goes away with in 2 weeks naturally. Body will get rid of the disc fluid touching the nerves. There is no oral medication that will fix this problem. Only way to fix it permanently is to get a surgery where they will remove a part of the disc causing hernia. Avoid MRI/Xray unless absolutely necessary, it reduces your life span.
Hope Tia get well soon. And wish both of you a memorable trip in Thailand northern region again. FYI: there are a lot of tight angle curves as well as slopes along the way to Mae Hong Son. This need a lot of attention and concentration for drivers/riders when using this route. Some passengers might get carsick during this route.
My wife and i have travelled from Norway to Thailand to visit hospitals there. Even tho its free in Norway we like the modern private hospitals there, Can enjoy a holiday if my back hurt :) Two disc dislocated in my lower back and chiropractor, massage and medicine fixed it. Public health service is also good there.
We weren’t very surprised when we saw the Thai healthcare system is better than the United States because our system is notoriously bad. It is surprising that even Europeans come here for healthcare, though! That’s a real testament to the quality of Thai healthcare.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and glad you had a positive experience at the hospital. Take it easy. I just saw this wonderful weekend market in Chiang Mai called Jingjai Market on another channel. Lots of beautiful handicrafts. Maybe time for some shopping therapy.
About 2.5 years ago I had a partially detached retina and went to Hua Hin public hospital. I had to wait for 120 people who were in front of me. By lunch time the diagnosis was confirmed and laser surgery completed! Cost was $110!!!
Wow wow wow that sounds incredibly painful. What happened (if you don’t mind me asking)? Glad it was sorted out the same day. And $110 is amazingly good.
An MRI on my wrist in the US a few years ago cost us $800-1000, not including the office visit...so, wow! I had a bulging disc or two in my neck while traveling for business. I remember the pain well - everything hurt. Standing, sitting, walking - nothing relieved it. I'm really sorry! Along with anti-inflammatory, they also sent me to physical therapy and that was *really* helpful - even more than the drugs. Maybe they have something similar there? Heal quickly!
And don’t even get me started on what it costs to talk to a doctor for 15 minutes in the US! In Arizona at least, shaking a doctor’s hand can cost as much as the actual treatment 😂 The doctor here prescribed lots of low impact core exercises and that has helped immensely.
Hi. Just subscribed and started watching your vlogs. Tia ok? No surgery needed? I had a bad car accident years ago that messed up my back, no surgery but aches and pain ever since. Good luck on your travels!
Hey, thank you for your concern, that's very nice of you. My back is feeling a lot better. It's from an old running injury and it flares up sometimes and gives me trouble. This time was a lot worse than usual. Sorry to hear about your back pain too, back injuries really are no fun to deal with. Glad you made it out of the car accident at least. Hopefully your back continues to get better as time goes on.
@Tia Hope you get well soon. I had the same back pain like you have many times. Most of the time, it took me about 2 weeks to get better. My body heals by itself. I only took pain killer when I felt hurt. Be careful about massage though…if they do not know the right way to massage for healing a back pain, it can hurt you more.
Thank you, Otto 😊 Our back problems seem to be similar. About two weeks and it usually heals on its own. I agree the massage might make it worse, so I have been very careful about that.
You guys are just so amazing! I love the energy! I know back pain all too well! It put me out of work 6 months before actually quitting my job since it was the source of my injury. Even now it flares occasionally but nothing in the past year so I keep my fingers crossed lol. Take it easy I hope you feel better soon! I just went to a Biryani place in Bangkok which was super delicious. My boyfriend and I ordered more than 1 plate lol
My L4-L5 disc extruded (exploded) out 11mm. I couldn’t walk after that. I’m glad Tia’s back got better without need for any surgery and glad it was a good deal in Thailand.
@@OnePackWanderers fortunately I did not need a fusion. I found a neurosurgeon, David Ditsworth, who performed a minimally invasive nanodiscectomy and now I am good!
Great to see you getting things better like that! I also saw that Lisa and Josh should get back to Chiang Mai as well, so I suppose you will meet up again? xD
We did see them a couple times just to hang out! We’re all making an effort to set boundaries with the UA-cam stuff, and just have time to hangout as friends 🙂
I suggest you buy a rolling carry on luggage . Because carrying a backpack for travel for a long period of time will give you a serious back pain, it happened to us so we switch to rolling carry on luggage.
We’ll definitely look into it. We suspect the flare up was brought on by stepping off a curb. It sounds silly, but it’s an old running injury and those things seem to be the biggest culprit in bring it on.
If you want to go to Maehongsorn you better go by mini bus and rent a motorcycle there .It more comfortable and safe . Wish you all have a good health in Chinese New Year.
Thailand is the 6th on the world's best health care system ranking amongs the first world countries. FYI Hope Tai's back is recovery now. I Like your clips.
In my experience, natural treatments such as infrared therapy and spinal decompression do a better job of healing the bulging disc, instead of just hiding the pain with meds. I'm on my 4th week of decompression therapy for my bulging disc, and 85% better now 😊. Hope you're feeling better with a fast recovery.
I think you're definitely right about that. I had to cut the dosage in half because the medication was making me dizzy all the time. Focusing on stretching exercises now and it is helping a lot 🙂 Glad you are feeling better too! 4 weeks is a pretty long time to deal with a bulging disc 😕
Hope you feel well soon. I have a similar problem. Chronic back pains. I began visiting a chiropractor almost a year ago. I was skeptical, most people are scared and think is a scam. After a year I can say it's totally worth it. Getting your joints adjusted is important. I go once every two weeks. Cost is $25 (here in US) and I haven't suffered chronic pain since. I can sense the stiffness coming back if I go too long without going. I just look at it like getting a massage.
I think the trick is finding a good chiropractor. Some of them can make the pain worse but others can work magic 🙂 Glad your back pain is better! It’s not a fun thing to deal with.

Some of the best places to eat in Thailand are at hospital canteens. I personally think Thai hospitals are among the MOST caring in the world.❤❤❤
I second how great Thai health care is! I got a trapped nerve in my neck in Samui and got fantastic care. And the cost was miniscule in comparison with the USA.
Hope you get well soon, Tia. Rest 😁
Thank you! And dang, a trapped nerve in the neck sounds really painful! Glad you got it sorted out 🙂
Glad you (Tia) went to get proper medication. From my experience with slipped disc years ago, swimming helps a lot to build up the back muscle and relief the pain. Speedy recovery. Love to your smiles.
Swimming sounds like really good advice! The doctor recommended that as well. I usually run but swimming seems much lower-impact 🙂
@@OnePackWanderers 😂🤣 no idea, probably your coolness factor. 🤷🏾♀️🙆🏾♀️
Hoping your back feels better soon!
Thank you! It’s doing much better now 😊
I root for Tia with all my heart! Hope you get well very soon and thank you for trusting our hospitals. 🙏🇹🇭
Anyway 10700 thb for Thai like me makes my eyes pop out because we usually go to the gov hospitals with our free medical card (called THE GOLD CARD).
That’s incredible! It’s really shameful that the US doesn’t have a similar system. Thailand is really doing it right 🙂
Yeah you go in without an appointment but you have to go at 6am and wait all day.
15 million foreigner come to Thailand for Hospital care. and for Asia our medical class is super hight . Then u dont have to worry about quality 💪🏻❤️
It is honestly very impressive and Thailand should be proud.
Hope you get well soon หายป่วยไวๆ 💪👍🤗
Thank you so much! 🙂💪🏻🙏🏻
Wishing u getting well soon.
Thank you!
Hope you get well soon, Tia!! We're looking for your video and see your smile in happiness...
Thank you very much 😊
Happy that you got some answers. Back injury is no joke. Keep up those smiles. I miss Thailand so much and watching your videos just takes me back :-)... Take it easy the next couple of days but don't stop the videos 👌
Thank you, and good advice 🙂
Thank you for sharing
Get well soon, take care.
Thank you very much 😊🙏🏼
I hope your get well soon.🥰
Thank you 😊
I have just discovered your channel!
Take care and get well soon.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Chiang Mai Ram Hospital is one of the a good private hospital in Chiang Mai. I went to get RT-PCR test there for a covid travel certificate. Quick and friendly service and the test result arrived within the same day at no extra cost.
Couldn’t agree more. Really high quality place 😊
this information is so important and useful~~~~~ thank you ~~~
Get well soon na ka, take care ❤️🤗🤗🤗
I know I'm about a week late seeing this, but thank you 😊
i hope Tia gets well pretty soon. Safely Journey
Thank you 🙂
Get well soon Tia & take your time! I had to visit a Thai hospital twice in all those years. A motocycle accident in Pai and a Tonsil infection (bot used to airco) in BKK. Both experiences have been amazing & really been taken care off.
You got an infection from air conditioning? That sounds rough! Glad you’re doing better now, and thank you for the well wishes!
Hope you feel better! Get well soon.
Thank you vey much 😊
Get well soon Tia.Best wishes to you both.
Thank you 😊
I wish Tia get well soon
Thank you. She’s feeling much better 🙂
in Thailand if you go The hospital can see a doctor right away. But not in America, seeing a doctor only requires an appointment.
This is the advantage of Thailand that foreigners like to come here for medical treatment. I know because a lot of Americans have come.
It is also much less expensive in Thailand for the same quality of care 🙂
Hello i hope your back gets better soon. Please just rest and relax. Stay safe you two. 👍💕💕
Thank you very much for the warm wishes 😊
Tia get well soon. Both are very lovely.
Thank you 😊🙏🏻
get better soon.
I will! Thank you 🙏🏼
I have the same exact issue after i hard fell on my back few years ago.
Have you had the surgery? I’ve heard it messes with mobility 😬
Hope you get well soon
Thank you 😊
Hope Tia get well soon. And wish both of you a memorable trip in Thailand northern region again.
FYI: there are a lot of tight angle curves as well as slopes along the way to Mae Hong Son. This need a lot of attention and concentration for drivers/riders when using this route. Some passengers might get carsick during this route.
Hope Tia get well soon.
Love your vlogs
You are so right about the curves! It’s quite fun, but yes it requires a lot of attention 🙂
Get well soon!
Thank you! 😊
Get well soon, looking forward to watch your next video 🥰
Thank you!
Thai Medicare actually rank #5 in the world
Compared to what we’re used to it felt like #1!
Get well soon. Looking forward to the next trip NA KA :)
Thank you 😊
Get well soon Tia

💓 Get well soon,
Wish you good health.
Thank you very much for the kind words 😊
Hope you will get better soon and still enjoy your trip in Thailand
Thank you. It won’t keep me down for long!
Wishing you a speedy recovery and glad you had a positive experience at the hospital. Take it easy.
I just saw this wonderful weekend market in Chiang Mai called Jingjai Market on another channel. Lots of beautiful handicrafts. Maybe time for some shopping therapy.
This is a GREAT idea 😄
In Arizona at least, shaking a doctor’s hand can cost as much as the actual treatment 😂
The doctor here prescribed lots of low impact core exercises and that has helped immensely.
@@OnePackWanderers I'm so glad the exercises are helping!! US healthcare is soooo broken. 😔
ขอให้หายเร็วๆ
Thank you very much 😊🙏🏼
ขอให้สุขภาพร่างกายแข็งแรงนะครับ
Tia, get well soon
Thank you! 🙂
@@OnePackWanderers Thank you Tia! BTW, are you half Asian? Great videos. Can't wait to see where you guys go next. Safe travels!
It would take 5 office visit to get a mri done in the USA
And probably cost $2k+
Wow, six months is really rough. A year with no pain is a great sign, though! What did you do for work, if you don’t mind me asking?
@@OnePackWanderers Yea so far so good lol. I was working as a nurse
My L4-L5 disc extruded (exploded) out 11mm. I couldn’t walk after that. I’m glad Tia’s back got better without need for any surgery and glad it was a good deal in Thailand.
Reading this made me wince. Did you have surgery to have them fused? The same thing happened to my grandma and aunt. My grandma had hers fused.
@@OnePackWanderers fortunately I did not need a fusion. I found a neurosurgeon, David Ditsworth, who performed a minimally invasive nanodiscectomy and now I am good!
Get well soon, Tia 🙏🏻😌💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you 😊
i recommend try Thai massage it help a lot.
Get well soon Tia.
Thank you 😊
Fan from Thailand : wish u to get well soon.
Thank you 😊
Great to see you getting things better like that! I also saw that Lisa and Josh should get back to Chiang Mai as well, so I suppose you will meet up again? xD
We did see them a couple times just to hang out! We’re all making an effort to set boundaries with the UA-cam stuff, and just have time to hangout as friends 🙂
@@OnePackWanderers great to hear that! just being able to be good friends is worth a lot :D
I wish you good health and keep making good videos
Thank you very much for the kind words 🙂🙏🏻
I suggest you buy a rolling carry on luggage . Because carrying a backpack for travel for a long period of time will give you a serious back pain, it happened to us so we switch to rolling carry on luggage.
We’ll definitely look into it. We suspect the flare up was brought on by stepping off a curb. It sounds silly, but it’s an old running injury and those things seem to be the biggest culprit in bring it on.
Sincerely hope that you feel 100% really soon Tia 🤗
Thank you, Mark! I’m very late replying to this, but I really appreciate the well-wishes!
If you want to go to Maehongsorn you better go by mini bus and rent a motorcycle there .It more comfortable and safe . Wish you all have a good health in Chinese New Year.
Get well soon "Tia"
^___^
Thank you! 😊
Thailand is the 6th on the world's best health care system ranking amongs the first world countries. FYI
Hope Tai's back is recovery now. I Like your clips.
That is very easy to believe. Thailand’s healthcare system is very impressive.
Tia’s back is doing much better, thank you for the well-wishes 😊
In my experience, natural treatments such as infrared therapy and spinal decompression do a better job of healing the bulging disc, instead of just hiding the pain with meds. I'm on my 4th week of decompression therapy for my bulging disc, and 85% better now 😊. Hope you're feeling better with a fast recovery.
I think you're definitely right about that. I had to cut the dosage in half because the medication was making me dizzy all the time. Focusing on stretching exercises now and it is helping a lot 🙂
Glad you are feeling better too!
Some of them can make the pain worse but others can work magic 🙂
Glad your back pain is better! It’s not a fun thing to deal with.
The comfortable and better support walking shoes might help. Please get well soon.
Definitely. I have been wearing sneakers I stress of sandals lately 🙂
