I daily a zodiac sea-chron. Combine the chrono movement with 300m water resistance and its 17mm thick. Never mind slilping under a cuff, you need a wizards sleeve.
Barry, this is brilliant insight and I will likely rewatch this video several more times because it is so informative and accessible. At a time when other channels are optimizing on flash trends (listicle "top ten watches..."), namedropping certain brands to drive up view counts, and making dramatic thumbnails to increase clicks... your channel stands out as a voice of reason and sanity! Videos like this will have an evergreen longevity and timelessness that will be a resource I will come back to again and again. I have learned so much from you over the last couple of years and this style of video really elevates your channel. Cheers!
Hi Barry, chronographs are chunky movements unless they're really expensive: this is a fundamental law of the universe... Simple = slim, complex = chunky, all things being equal. However, it's worth noting that Guinand chronographs are slimmer than Sinn models, assuming that they're not telling porkies that is. Excellent video of an interesting subject there Barry, thank you. Have a good week, LG Bob 🍻🍻🍻
@@ClickSpringReviewI think it would be worth it frankly. Matthias Klueh is an engineer and has been driving technological advances within the company for some time. I suggest that you have a look at the Guinand videos on UA-cam, then you'll see what I mean. I'm not part of the Guinand family yet, although I'd really like to be. 🙂
Seiko allegedly send a letter to Zenith in 69’ saying that they should rename their watch “El Segundo” cuz for full 6 months before Zenith Seiko already had their auto chronograph on sale for jdm.
Fantastic review as ever and well explained. To pack so much capability and engineering into such a small space, the only surprising thing to me is that they aren’t twice the thickness. Love and appreciate the design and sheer technical ability of these watches and stop worrying that something is the extra thickness of a credit card. How many people wearing a dress shirt with cuffs are likely to be rocking a tool watch in this price band anyway? If people are that horrified at wearing a 16mm thick watch, buy a digital watch instead - whatever one of those is 😂
@@ClickSpringReview I'm surprised that people are surprised so much mechanical complexity can be squeezed into so little space! Keep up the good work. Love this channel.
It's all down to the case shape. I've been wearing my hockey puck Sinn 157 for several years now and found it very comfy, same for Precista prs-56. And I'd wear your Rolex SD4K or Sinn EZM1 gladly any day of the week 😉 The only problem with thick watches is it's easier to bump them against a door frame or something of the sort. That's why I'm hoping to get a U50 at some point. It's thinner and it has a tegimented bezel 😅
Omega's official statement is that their water resistance ratings are literal, and if you have a 30m rated omega then you can take it diving down to a depth of 30m underwater. Refreshing!
Own a few modern auto chronograph watches, a tissot with the 7750, and a seiko SRQ023 enamel dial. Both quite thick, but the seiko dies feel nicer to use upon clicking the pushers. But, a micro brand from South Korea uses the same 8R48 calibre in their latest piece, at 13.2mm tall it's less than my seiko using the same calibre. Albeit I do own a seiko bullhead, at 16mm thick its very tall lol.
This is why I like centre chronos they are easier to read, Oversized watches were a mid 2000s thing. The Daytona its been around for 60 years (40mm) as to the Speedmaster (42mm) the Sinn watches in the Video no bigger than 41mm and yet have been around for between 55/28 years.

I also have a 17mm model the Sinn 103 and it never bothers me at all 👍🏻

Exactly, why I love your channel. Nobody does this stuff - and you always back it up. Cracking!
Thanks Robin ☺️

I need to connect Guinand as I'd love to review some of their models Bob 👍🏻

Very true, its a shame the Seiko movement didn't last like the Zenith did

Well said chap 👍🏻
I’d happily wear the Rolex - but I’d be thrilled to wear any of those Sinns. Thanks for another tremendously informative video!
Anytime Mike, I'm hopping once people have seen a chrono movements they will understand more why they are the thickness they are

Thats a fair comment about knocking them, The U50 makes prefect sense, at some point I'm sure we are going to meet up and I'll bring the watches ;)

What's the name of the Korea company ? as I can email them and see if I can get one on the channel Sir
@@ClickSpringReview it a company called pitzmann.
Cheers I'll check them out
Chronographs should be larger as well to accomodate legible subdials - not compatible with today's trend toward smaller cases so deal with it manlets
