I really love your picture of Winston and you’re doing such a good job. He’s such a cutie pie. That will be a wonderful gift and. All of your Miribilias are just beautiful my mother stitched lots and lots of them, but I never did get into them like she did but you’ve got so many wonderful projects picked out gorgeous. I can’t help you on the one over one because I don’t do that myself, but you’re gonna have a good time. That’s the main thing I stitch because I love it. I can’t wait to get back to it so just enjoy enjoy the ride.

Thank you so much! The Winston stitch was a lot of fun :). Stitching has so many fun things to learn and I agree we have to stitch what and how we love. Glad you're enjoying the channel and happy stitching!

I totally agree with everything you said about Lady with a Fan. My first thought was that she was beautiful, but quite masculine. DVG designs have always seemed challenging to me… along the lines of the intricate Teresa Wentzler designs. I always envisioned them going to the same art university together.

I love your Odyssey piece. The black on that fabric looks terrific.
In case no one else has already mentioned it, I think the Lady with a Fan pattern is an homage to Dante Gabriel Rosetti and his muse, Jane Morris. I don't think it's an adaptation of a real painting of his, but certainly mimics his style, and the woman is a dead ringer for Jane.
    And I vote for 1 over 2 on 36.
(New sub here. Sarah at Sarah's Stitchy Spot has mentioned you.)

I’m new to your flosstube. starting with #8. 🎉 Just subscribed. I’m in Asheville NC.
Good Luck with your 5k and half.
Your Odyssey finish on curry is very nice and I enjoyed the story.
The Chihuahua stitch will be a great gift to your friend. So cute. Your friends drawing of Winston is stunning!
Your mermaids are so colorful. Like your change on border design.
Your lighthouse colors are really pretty.
When I first stumbled on flosstube in 2020 during Covid I watched someone stitching in hand on linen. I promptly put the scroll rod from the 80’s back in the closet. I was stitching the Red Cardinal from BBD Home for the Holidays with all called for on 36 or 40 count linen. I love the ease, lightness, nothing to hold onto except linen and needle, and I actually found the softness of linen easier to stitch in hand than stiffer fabric.
I’m also doing my first Mirabilia, Snow Queen. It was my #3 WIPGO project in Feb. I stitched for 9 days and frogged as many stitches as I put in. Never had such a problem with any linen as I did with this. I was disappointed because I had found the perfect color of fabric. I’ve been searching for a replacement and had no luck until today. I went to fiberlicious which was also a first after hearing you speak of them and BAM!! Purchased a half yard of 32 count Wanderlust which is very close to what I started on. So I’ll start again when fabric arrives. I wouldn’t have found it had I not been watching you. So thank you.

Thank you so much and welcome to my channel! I'm glad you found it and are enjoying the projects so far! Appreciate all your kind words. I think I do need to give stitching in hand on linen another try. Just need to get it to feel comfortable in my hands and know where to put all the extra fabric ha. Love that you've found the technique that works for you. Congrats on your first Mira, Snow Queen! If you have instagram and want to post with #firstmirasal I'd love to watch your progress. I have a couple of fabrics from Fiberlicious and have not been disappointed to I hope you enjoy it when it arrives! They have so many great colors! Happy stitching!

Beautiful finish on ur odyssey sal!! Great progress on ur wips, too!! I would say 1 over 2 for ur long dog...2 strands looks super full but might get more bulky as u get further on and plus it'll save on floss! 😉 the over 1 will give great coverage but have a subtler effect still if that makes sense! I keep hearing all about this leap day Sal, and I'm not about to start a long dog but I still may make an excuse for a new start in solidarity w u guys! Happy stitching!! 🪡❤️

So much fun!! I had to laugh when you shared the 1 over 1 stitching on your Mira as that’s exactly what I was stitching (and cursing at) while watching you lol! Your 1x1 is gorgeous! Also I really like the 1x1 on the dragons, the petite stitching is so beautiful :) My vote for the creepy ornament is the haunted house option! Oh and I edited to add how I loved the story of your SAL - very fun :)

Congrats on your finish, it looks amazing. I love the drawing of your puppy Winston it is beautiful. Your old roommate is going to love the cross stitch of Winston. On your Long Dog pattern for the 36 count it’s usually 1 over 2 but it depends on what you like. The only problem I think might happen is the thickness of 2 threads might make your stitches to start looking too crowded. Good luck on your up coming race. Can’t wait for your next video, I always love watching.

Have you considered contacting the seller on the blue/green 1/2 and 1/2 fabric? If you are going to spend the time/money on this piece you should be happy with it. Maybe they have a piece that is more like what you saw, less green and more blue. Someone may have après suggested this earlier but there are over 200 comments now.

I really enjoyed your video and seeing all your projects. You have such an enthusiastic and positive attitude. The Odyssey piece is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing the story behind what was stitched. I love houses so I vote for the haunted house Christmas ornament. I would stitch one over two on the project you are going to start. I think less is more when choosing how many threads to use on smaller count. For me stitching in hand is great on smaller pieces with a fabric that is a little bit stiffer. Some of the dyed fabric is so soft and it kind of flops around unless I use a hoop. Also if it’s a big piece I like using a hoop not matter what the fabric feels like. And I use nothing but Nurge hoops. I like them much better than q snaps. Have a great two weeks!

Wonderful projects! Of course cross stitchers have their opinions 😂. I'm a 1 over 2 stitcher on 36 and up. Sometimes even on 32 count. And I love stitching in hand, it took some time for my stitches to look how I wanted but now I rarely use a hoop or frame unless 46c count and up. Super idea on the center of your mermaids project, I can't wait to see how it finishes. I think your gradient fabric will work wonderfully for you.

Loved your stitches!!! Way to go you accomplished a bunch! I’m also a runner but after having my last baby I’m struggling getting off the couch again but I totally love that you included your running with stitching, you and I friend!!!
I’m fairly new to stitching so not much opinion here, and even if I did you might want to reconsider taking it ha ha 😂, I like the fluffy stitches but I think if you do too many it just starts looking like too much 😊 maybe a bit busy. Yet again maybe do the fluffier stitches in areas you want more depth I dunno 🤷‍♀️ just a thought! Also I’m loving that creepy haunted house! Excited to catch up on your videos, best of luck with everything!

I've stitched both 1 over and 2 over on 36 count. What you need to look for is the density of the stitches on the chart. If you are stitching lots of solid areas, then 2 threads through one hole 4 times is really hard on your fingers, the floss, and the fabric.

    • @therunnerstitcher
      @therunnerstitcher  11 місяців тому

That's an excellent point. Long Dog does have a lot of solid areas, so I'm thinking the 1 strand will be better!

Your finishes is beautiful love that curry fabric. I would stitch with one strand on 36 count . I like the look of 2 strands but it is much easier with one and it still looks good. Your fabric choice is great I would just start at the top of the fabric leaving a 2 in border. Good luck on your race this weekend .

I love your Odyssey piece - congrats on the finish! Your Mira's are beautiful as well. You can use a simple zig zag stitch on your fabric edges if that works better. It took me some time, but I've gotten the serging stitch figured out on my sewing machine finally. I've had a few pieces of fabric that felt like they almost fell apart on me until I stitched the edges. 🪡👠

Nice entertainment during lunch break, thanks for that.
I would go with the 1:2 version on the long dog. For a sampler I like sort of the delicacy look. The fluffier version with 2:2 can blur out the lines to much in my opinion. And than it might not be looking as crisp as I like it. Hope you get what I mean 😅

Just found your channel and love your projects, you do some lovely work! I purchased 5 printed kits (they came from China so took forever to receive, I figured as long as I'm buying, may as well buy 5 LOL). I usually do COUNTED cross-stitch but find printed kits easier when I am traveling, as I don't need to "count". I really admire anyone who attempts the Mirabilia kits, they are stunning, maybe someday soon.... Looking forward to seeing some of your projects, the "squirrel", "Beyonce", "pancakes" to name a few. I love squirrels. (I'll have to check out your prior vlogs & see if you have already shown these) #subscribed

I vote for the Haunted House. That tree is too creepy for me. I always do 1 thread on 36 count. With 2 threads I find it too tight when 4 stitches come together. Have you ever done the NYC Marathon? My husband and I are NYC natives but live upstate now. He has done the marathon twice.

Beautiful progress! 1 or 2 strands on 36 count for me depends on the look I’m going for. Like for the Lola crow green house I did 2 but for a cottage garden samplings piece I did 1. I feel like 1 over 2 (to me) is more antiquey

BRAVO on the Odyssey stitch! I’ve really enjoyed seeing that one come to life, and that fabric color adds so much to it. The designer just nailed it on capturing the story line. And frankly, I love that Penelope is the largest element in the pattern. I started SAGA late last year and you’re inspiring me to pick it up again! (I’ve only got 2 or 3 arches done.) 36 count is so hard to nail down for number of threads, because it feels like (to me at least) the dye process affects that count more than any others. I’ve used both one and two threads of DMC on various 36 counts. But I will say, the times I wasn’t sure, I always end up switching to 1 thread. The more concentrated stitches you get, the harder it is to keep them neat. The cool thing with SAGA is you could play around with doing the arches in two threads, and all the motifs with one thread or something.

And, I haven’t stitched on a 36ct yet but just got my first 36 fabric. I am going to try 1 over 1, being it a new experience and it seems that is what many stitcher’s like to do. Thank you so much for your kind words! I would highly recommend the Odyssey SAL! It honestly was so much fun to stitch up. Congrats on your WIPGO progress so far! I'm enjoying it for my first time. I agree with 1 strand too. Happy you're enjoying the videos!

Great video! Can’t wait to see the finish on Odysseus. I want to see the skull tree stitched. I like the look of 1 stitch over 2. Bulky stitches cause me stress especially on a big project. All of your projects are beautiful. Can’t wait for the next video.
