It’s amazing how intact that VW Beetle still was; usually, when they have been sitting abandoned like that for decades, the doors, fenders, hood, and trunk lid are all gone. On another note, it would be interesting to see clips on how the restoration process of this Beetle is going.
Actually we just got drunk at our club house, and a friend started talking about an oval bug he would get for free if he removed it from the forest. We decided that we would go get it the same day, as a couple of us still was sober and could drive. So this is my buddys car, and it's not yet decided what to do with it. I've got plenty of work on my 1938 Chevy forest find @patina_delivery on Instagram
I'm a proud American but those old Volkswagen bugs are badasses I've owned allot of them, you hate them, but once you start to learn to work on them , you love them
hmm, learned something today. i also have 53 a Oval Ragtop, mine is also a one year only color, L35 metallic blue. however, i did not know that Atlantic Green was even offered, and that Sahara Beige was also a one year only color. All 3 were offered less than a year actually.
That's rough. Hardly enough left to get a VIN and a roof out of the deal. Trans was laying in the field and the numbers matching engine is probably long gone to another car. OTOH, someone has a good story to tell next time they are at the local bar!

Hei!

I wonder if In 53 it was somewhat controversial to buy a German car that was invented during the time of the Nazis in Norway. I mean the Germans did invade Norway. The war would have been fresh in the minds and the brand would not have yet been cleansed from the flower power, free love movement. Curious if the driver ever felt any trepidation or concern about what his neighbors would think back in 53.
You're right - Norway was hit hard by WW2, but still the VW was the best selling car in Norway 20 years later. So I guess most people didn't think that way about the car. Also, many Kubelwagens that was left by the Germans was used by Norwegians as family cars for many years after the war.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the German Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer...
Oh ye of little faith. I can tell by your comment you're not an auto body man. This one is in pristine condition compared to some VW's I've seen resurrected. I know a few guys who can restore this with a welder, hammer and some scrap meatal pieces. Who needs repop panels when one has skills and talent ?
@@addagwenlyn9662 ... that was meant in jest. I go to enough car shows to hear jokes about building cars from repro parts then wondering if there's any of the original vehicle left!
1953 is a very rare model, congratulations! Double tumb-up 👍👍

Who needs a winch to pull it out of there, when you’ve got 10 VW friends!! Awesome 😁
Wait until they carry out the forgotten King Tiger tank.
10 Vikings!
Wonderful, wish we know it’s story and why it was put there . It was never really lost .
I’d love that...good find..👍🏴
Cheer's to them for saving it, but we need more videos of the 53' ragtop! And what are your plans with it?

Thats a 1953-55 Cadillac steering wheel. Crazy it even fits!
It's a French aftermarket steering wheel made to fit the VW.
just wondering which part of it can be reused :)

Cool..🚗
The reality is that unfortunately there is literally nothing that can be saved on that Beetle
Will there be restoration videos of this Bug?

I do hope that we get to see what happens with this old bug.
I'm curious myself! It's my buddy's car
How is it that all these VW's wind up rotting away in the forest? How do they get there?
In this case - drunk driving, many decades ago 🤣
