Stunning effort. BTW. This video is excellent, the pictures told the story, no useless chat. I'm now oing to bust out Creedence ................. on vinyl.
Sweet! In the 80's I found a running 61', 6V bus, yellow with white top that had the back curved windows and mint original interior that ran well- for $200.! I popped a 12V 72 Super Beetle engine in it and never had a problem starting it with the 6V starter. Turned over instantly and never burnt out! Took that thing all over the North East and Canada for back road joy rides and camping. Back seat folded out to a full bed. A full set of curtains and a few coolers gave me all I needed to stay rent free during evenings in the woods or on beaches. I had to learn to not answer the door when cops came knocking at 3 a.m. to try and chase me away. Always a problem in the U.S.. So much fun!
Awesome. Dont ever sell that bus, you will regret it for the rest of your life. Trust me. Good luck with all the fun to make it shine again. That bus looked pretty good after so many years.
I don't care what era you were born these cars are magnificent yes a lot of work to restore but respect them this vehicle is over 60 years old magnificent potential if you can weld work with sheet metal your half way there good luck with it all
love the CCR!!! grew up in San Francisco in the 60's listening !!! Great find !!! And had an uncle who lived in the Haight who had a Bus !!! Great fun we had trying to climb all the hills !!!
Nice one hope the job goes well for you. I had a type 2 made in 1970 a camper kept it for 18 years (only last 14 on the road). Used it from 1976 in the UK and France. Happy days called it Skippy. Have a normal motorhome now.
Hello to my southern neighbors from the Land of the MIdnight Sun. There's something very satisfying about rescuing and preserving a good old bus, they really respond to a little (ok, a LOT) of TLC. Enjoy the good karma your saved bus brings you. -Tim in my resurrected '58 dove blue camper
Just remember folks every video that you watch of these people financially /support thier efforts in restoring/saving these VWs, so if you have time click on video and watch in the back ground while doing other things.
I got wood about 4 minutes in,and we used to drive around with our left foot propped up on the headlight bucket back in the late 70s and 80s and even a minor front fender bender turned into a cane walk or a prosthetic walk back when...
BTW- I went through 5 different V.W. buses, 61' to 67' and 12 different engines. It was my hobby that got me through the 80's with transportation & many hours on my back with my grease covered Idiots Manual!
Gold. You found gold. A 55 23 window bus. Absolute gold. Would have travelled 5 times as far to pick that one up. Hope someone rescues the bug too. I've subscribed purely in the hope you post updates.
I really enjoyed this love your drive for getting stuck in to a bita work and the music is second to none// How you getting on vw bus which a rarity this day and age// God bless ya man stay lucky
Great video. I can't wait to see your journey to restore it. Can you please tell me how you were able to use the music without getting flagged for a copyright violation? I want to do a video on my Beetle restoration with music. Thank you.
This video did get copyright claimed so I won't get any money off of it. I'd suggest finding some noncopyright music off of a website so you can actually monetize your video.
50 years ago these were going for 75$ for a 57 and you could drive them on the roads back then...now if they gold plaited one of those turds and made it like new and said, take it for a spin in this here 21st century....Some ones being Chimerical, EH!
I actually put a “looking for old VW’s” ad on Facebook. Someone responded and said his brother has an old 21 or 23 up north and we got his phone number. After months of my dad calling him, we finally got some pictures and drove up. We got transfer papers but I don’t think it’s in our name yet.

Absolutly wonderful. Big country without people. A dream.
What a beautiful bus. I would just put window glass and an interior in it and leave the patina as it is. Very nice find. Enjoy it.
Heck yes! Really nice bus, it makes me happy to see that it's going to get saved!
Awesome. Dont ever sell that bus, you will regret it for the rest of your life. Trust me.
Good luck with all the fun to make it shine again. That bus looked pretty good after so many years.
AND SOME DAY the 55 limit will come back.........like never.

I have work as a mechanic @ Fa. Eichbichler from 2000-2002, where this bus was delivered 1955 😃
So lucky what a find, sympathetic restoration??
Clear lacquer finish to preserve its wrinkles and mature skin👍👍
God save it and the queen!!!
Doubt the queen has any input pretty much her philosophy to most common people

Keep the trumpet horns- they look great!

Nice to hear music again by Credence Clearwater Revival!
Thats a great video. I just subbed. Hoping to see more of this.
That thing had to have had some sort of cover on it .. .. I'm guessing. Northern rain forest conditions aren't too kind to sitting metal.
How did you find it? You have the paperwork? Looking forward to seeing the progress.

@@Vwrescue Man what a treasure!
Very good 👍 video..... From Malaysia
Wow... Ini kalau di indonesia jadi mahal
Great find. Are you going to do up dates on this VW ? Like restoration ?
Did the seller know what $$ he had?
You dudes seen Carchaeology, Randy with all those magazine custom VW's he's built & sold, hit him up for any possible ideas, history, parts, etc...
great score, is there any progress on the resto?
Hi volkswagan man
Man if that thing could talk eh?How close to Smither's was it?
Just a dream situation.
A $175,000 dollar vehicle once fully restored to Concours condition.
and build a pink life size Barbie House for it.
Where's the update video?
Very sad :(
Fa. Eichbichler is still a VW dealer in Landshut. Maybe they can help you with the paperwork
WOW....
Pog!
Knight rider destroyer ? 😳
I wish I could save that Mercedes. That thing would be sick bagged on some gangster whitewalls
did you find the compressor for the air horn under the front seat with the tail light to?
Resgate de uma charisca👍
You got your work cut out for ya... Hope you can resist the urge to trim out the corners. That's a serious pile of sweat equity ahead.
I have read the comments and am so glad you are going to keep that patina. One question: any idea how long it had been parked in the forest?
This made me sub b/f 00:05
For 3 months you havent posted anything why?
We have other projects on the go and sadly its not the 23 windows turn yet.
@@Vwrescue awsome cant wait!
Did you go back for the Karmen Ghia ?
Is he running???
