Absolutely crazy! All this in order to replace sparkplugs. Technology can be a pain in the arse. I'm old school and sure miss the simple way. Thanks for the .... video.
Right?! It was quite the pain. Thanks for watching!
Not an easy job, but this mechanic was great in his explanation , and allowed my understanding how to get this job done, without hitting the wall.
Awesome! thanks for watching!
Great Job. Looked a lot easier going back in then coming out. thanks for the upload. Really needed this for confidence that its possible as home mechanic to get this done.
Thanks for watching!
Great video and your presentation is spot on, no wasted chatter, just really good information. Easy to understand and follow.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thank for the vid. Just did this job today. I spent 45 min trying to get that bolt by the firewall, used a closed 5" grabbed with a bigger wrench to get the leverage I needed. The hose pinch clamps worked great too.
Oh yeah that bolt is a real pain! Thanks for watching Bill!
Superb videos, thank you for being so thorough- definitely a lifesaver for me in a couple of spots.
Just a tip for you about working on Japanese vehicles- their obsession with using Phillips head screws actually had a reason. Those are Japanese Industrial Screws (JIS) and the difference in the design is subtle but it allows you to put a ton of torque into a small fastener without stripping it. I bought a set of JIS tools and now I never even touch a Phillips head screwdriver- love those things.
Thanks for watching!
Great tip! Right after this video I bought a set.
Yeah God forbid the use hax cap screws! Learned a great tip for those pesky IAC screws. . Take a round ended chisel, and give em a good wack on the screw heads, then they'll come out really easily.
Thanks for this, I wish all car tutorials were this detailed and easy to understand!
Great effort. Thanks for uploading.
Hey this is an excellent walkthrough! I am replacing a faulty IAC valve and this is incredibly helpful. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
The "Philips Head" screws are actually JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) screws. With the correct screwdrivers they are easy to remove.
I don't know a single person that has JIS screwdrivers. Good tip though! Thanks for watching!
Wow I DO NOT have the patience or knowledge for something like that . Ugh 🤦♂️ but it was a damned good video you are the best thank you
It is a little more advanced than most people might want. Thanks so much for watching!
Great job. This video is going to help me change my spark plugs. Going to go tackle the job. Once again Thank you
Got a video right here for that! ua-cam.com/video/tdnB4jaGSig/v-deo.html Thanks for watching Wendy!
Thank you very much for your video, it is going to be my next project very soon!
Nice job man. Your the best at what you do
I agree
This dude rocks!
Has saved me a fortune!
So happy to help! Thanks for watching!
where the throttle body has three bolts that mount to the plenum the lower nut can be loosed with a socket and a long extension from under and in between the two throttle bodies
the bolt at 17:10
Good video, recommend JIS screw drivers of you are working on Japanese vehicles. A total different experience with the JIS Phillips head screws.
Nice clear video. Those are not Phillips. They are Posidrive screws,
Thanks Paul. I knew there had to be a bit that would work correctly without stripping. without that bit these are a PITA/
Good video a 37 min job would be 2-3 hours for me im scared to try but i would just clean the throttle body with out removing it though.
Thank you for taking your time to share this video, very helpful
Thanks for watching!
Thanks. Should help with I AC replacement but not sure it will be worth the hassle
It is possible on a 2001 Sienna and possibly others, to access this bottom throttle body nut using a 12" extension and inserting it under the throttle body between the two TB throats. May have to remove the air filter top but it's a direct shot to that nut.
This is an incredible video, thank you so much
You're very welcome!
At the Half way point of this Video, I was thinking maybe Remove the Radio, Then a Chainsaw to cut through the Firewall to change the Plugs, going back to watch the last half.
May change the Phillips to Allen Head.
When in my Teens(70's)Needed an Impact Screw Driver to Remove Phillips on my Motorcycle. Then install Allen Heads. When Dirt Riding, easier to carry an Allen Wrench then the Impact and Hammer.
Had Points back then. Needed to remove side cover.

I wonder why you did all that work, and still didn’t clean the IAC valve. You didn’t show checking it to see it it moved back and forth easily. And, as clean as the throttle body was, do you think it needed to be removed and cleaned? But, still I thank you for making the video. You did a nice job.
How to add a dual body spacer? Possible?
Do a video on the 3.3 L V6 model for the Toyota Highlander. I had a devil of a time with mine, and could have used this tutorial beforehand.
Thanks for watching!
Is the difference between the 3.0 and 3.3 really that significant?
That's a great way to explain that job.may I ask for help with my 2001 highlander not getting feul to injectors and I can't hear the pump priming.is thier a feul shut off somewhere or a relay I need to check.if so where would they be located.ty in advance mel.
Great video! Love the camera work: much better than all other videos I have watched.
One question though: What is the length of the M5 screws you used to replace the stripped Phillips screws?
Thanks!
Thanks for the compliment and for watching!
I believe they were 20mm.
Great video brO 👍🏼
Great video, but you missed a key part. You should have taken off the idle air control valve and cleaned it. Those often get carboned up and cause unstable idle. It is impossible to remove without removing the throttle body, so since you already did that ...
You can, but this cars idle control valve was fine. This video is all about the throttle plates and housing. Thanks for watching!
What are the names and size of the cap you place on the throttle body when you take off the coolant lines?
vacuum line caps, I presume, but what size?
Nice video. Was the TB causing a CEL and throwing a code? I have a CEL and a P0174 code. I assume since the TB has 2 sides one side would go to bank 1 and the other side to bank 2?
Hi whats the black vacuum diaphragm looking thing called with the hose coming out of it, right behind the accelerator cable linkage/armature, and what does it do?
Do these have any throttle body spacers or no
How did you get to the bolt underneath that blasted thing? I'm bout ready to just rip the damn thing out, lol.
What year and specific model is that? Though similar, that doesn't look same as my 2006 V6 highlander with 3MZ-FE engine.
You have double throttle body and I have one.
Hmmm interesting they silently changed it. This was a 2001. Thanks for watching!
1mzfe?
hello, maybe you could help me out. Can you tell me where the vacuum line goes that you remove at 17:35, the one underneath connected to the bell looking deal.
I replaced my knock sensors, harness, valve cover gaskets, coil packs. I do not remember removing the other end of the hose, and it's not in my notes. There is a mesh cover that extends past the hose so I have thought possibly it was a drip or vent of some sort (not a mechanic here).
Thanks for any help.
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video man, very helpful.
Did you have to bleed the coolant system once you were done?
Honestly very little actually came out. Just topped it off a day later but it wasn't low or anything. Thanks for watching Mike!
Good Lord!! You need to remove half the engine just to clean the throttle body! Beautifully shot video, though!
That's what it takes my man, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Do you know the torque spec for the crossbar?
One arm tight. Don't overthink it. Thanks for watching!
I have my intake off to do plugs, id like to clean the throttle body as well. Just curious, why did you remove the IAC? Thanks, great video!
It needed a cleaning too. Thanks for watching!
Hei dude,,,please please, help me identify the Fuel Temperature sensor "circuit B" that the OBII is referring to in this 1MZFE engine. i am stuck trying to locate it. Please help
That's too complicated to answer on UA-cam, if you ask a question for free on our site www.2carpros.com an automotive expert will be along shortly to help you out! Thanks for watching!
This is not for the faint of heart, like me. What I don't understand is - I have a 2005 Limited and I don't have dual bodies.
Good Evening,
I was hoping to found out if this can help clear a P0505 code on my 2003 Toyota Highlander v6?
Probably not. That is a IAC valve code and it needs a replacement. Thanks for watching!
Would this work for. 2005 highlander? V6? Thanks
It will be very similar. But I believe they changed the V6 in 05 or so, it will look different. Thanks for watching!
why would I have oil around gasket of throttle body coneection to top intake Plenum. Also after takinf off intake plenum there is oil on that gasket also. By the way my Highlander has been misfiring from the three plugs on back side. Upon taking them out they were wet with gas. Can you help. Thank You.
Sounds like either VVTI solenoid or valve cover gasket failure.
8:37 When you're just trying to talk about your day and she tries to reach inside your pants
9:01 when she tries it again
Can you show me it again don't understand yet
Good
Around 8 min...."dont touch these nutz!"... "dont touch these nuts again!!!!"
@ 17:04 Story of my life
Holy crap! Who ever designed this engine, outta be shot! A lot of pre work just to change out the plugs.
I did a whole video on how to change those plugs too. They are an absolute bear. A total case of make it easy to assemble at the factory and impossible to work on. Thanks for watching!
That's why they are 100,000 mi. Plugs. No big deal
I think this was a secret revenge from japanese....
shaking head....cant believe this truly want an older vehicle....NOT JAPANESE.
What is the part number for the o rings that you talked about
That's an awful lot of work just to get to the throttle body
Yep, Thanks for watching!
Good...!!!👍
Thanks for watching!
Pain!!! all of this?????awful....must be guy thing (design) I used to change plugs in 82 monte carlo....not a problem....now at 70???? i can only say seriously!!!
