We do bread pudding in the US. Lots of people make it to use up stale bread. Our family's is more lik a custard though - not super dense. Stale bread, milk, eggs, sugar, nutmeg and then topped with bits of butter. Bake in a glass baking pan until brown and a little bit "wiggly". Its really easy to make.

As my mouth got more and more full, my body refused to swallow it. Until finally I had to breath and it exploded out all over her. At that point, as rice bits are all over her face, she calmly said "Okay, I guess you don't like it." Over 40 years ago and the scene is crystal clear in my head.

Sticky toffee pudding is the best super sweet "pudding" (dessert) that there is, hands down and it's fairly easy to make from scratch. To cut the sweetness, I have it with lightly sweetened whipped cream.

It’s interesting. That egg dish that took off is sacred to me. It really represents my culture is a very pure way. It kept me fed after coming home late nights from my restaurant job. Like how Cacio e Pepe is amazing for it’s simplicity, the egg rice dish is equally special for how simple, but delicious it is.
