It's understandable how Immortal doesn't trust him either. Assuming he doesn't feel time pass when he's dead/unconscious, he must have felt like it's been about a week since Omni-Man randomly snapped and killed all his friends + Immortal. One thing about Eve's family life that I think a lot of people miss- sure, the dad obviously sucks, but they ALL suck, he's just the most obvious about it. Eve's handling of every conflict they have is to be dismissive of her parents and to just be frustrated that they aren't doing what she wants them to do- just like her dad tries to enforce his own will and way of doing things without having a genuine conversation about it. Meanwhile the mom is a doormat who refuses to stand up for herself, her daughter, or her husband, resulting in her just kind of being there for the arguments without contributing anything or trying to calm things down. The three of them are incredibly dysfunctional together, and that's what makes them so fascinating to me.

45:40 when the mom pushes mark away. It felt like such real body language. Of being vulnerable and pushing them away when they get close only to then let them in on your terms one second later. It’s honestly one of my favorite scenes in the show because her crying and anger felt so real.
Honestly, I like the comic version of the events underwater better. The whole marriage thing was still a thing, and had a big cultural significance. Years ago, the first ruler of the country was on a date with a noble woman who wasn't super interested-probably an arranged marriage thing-when they were attacked by a giant monster. The first king guy instantly went to fight it off to protect her, and that selfless act really touched her heart. They eventually did get married, and that became the basis of courtship in the country. The men have to prove their worth by fighting one of those monsters. I like the story and how it impacted the culture of the country. As for Mark, he really didn't want to marry the Queen, and he found out that one of her guards or the concierge-someone liked that-loved her but he respected the culture and customs so he wasn't trying to pursue her. Mark came up with a plan that would get him out of marrying her, let the guy have his chance, and fulfill the customs and laws of Atlantis. When the time came for the fight he acted like a coward, and refused to fight the beast, letting the other guy take over the fight. And everyone was happy. The Queen was impressed by the bravery, Mark got the guy together with the person he loved-total wingman-and Mark didn't have to marry the fish lady. I do like the joke about how they've done away with that barbaric practice, only to replace it Wit the equally barbaric fight to the death though.
5:15 Hi, Montana and Kenny! As a former resident of DC-adjacent suburbs, I can confirm there is a large water feature (it is actually shown in the show at this timestamp) that pads a large area between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The Washington monument, as they showed here, is actually on elevated ground (like a hill) compared to where the reflection pool is. I’m actually surprised, as someone who has been there a few times, of how accurate the show portrayed it
Eve probably molecularly re-bonded Lincolns head back at mount Rushmore. She could probably re- bond the Washington Monument back togather. Maybe in the future her career will be fixing the damage Mark causes.
Y'know to be _fair_ to Cecil There's apparently an entire intergalactic empire of people who could _job_ Mark like it's nothing. It's way past time for him looking for countermeasures to be a _problem._
Yeah that’s what I picked up too; the dude with the cobra hood looks exactly like an action figure my friend had. I saw in another comment section that they’re actually supposed to be based on a Marvel villain team or something. 🤷
you gotta think, food coming out of nowhere can’t be safe so if i was her dad i wouldn’t trust some of the stuff she can make as well. even in the comics it’s said her food taste off
I’m with the dad for this one specific situation. Even in mha there’s a reason yaoyorozu doesn’t take advantage of her quirk. Though luckily eve doesn’t really abuse her power as much as she could
He has the right logic but the wrong conclusion. Her powers are potentially dangerous so she needs to learn to use them responsibly. Instead of immediately acting on her own, she could have offered to work with the construction workers to create structures to code.
He not wrong but the way he says it be messed up and also he acts like he doesn’t wanna accept his daughter for who she is like she does need to be careful cause how the public would view her but damn you gotta view me like that too dad ? He needs to grow up he like one of them old people who’s stuck in the past
I'm torn on the Dad cause I don't think he's a bad person just overly stubborn and prideful. It makes sense that he would be upset about his daughter getting superpowers and going out to fight crime daily because she is risking her life every time she goes out there. Just in the show so far, we've seen her almost die twice, once to her siblings and once to the Flaxans when they locked her head in a metal sphere and put a gun to her head. She'd have died there without Mark intervening. He loves his daughter, he thought he almost lost her when she was a baby and is fiercely protective of her. He doesn't want her to be a superhero not because he's emasculated or sexist but because he doesn't want his daughter to die. He doesn't want handouts because he's embarrassed about needing to be rescued by his child when he's failing to provide for his family (*also it is so strange that Montana questioned that he has been providing for his family since before Eve was born, like... yes? I sense a lot of bias from her.*) as a young man who's had to bail out his parents in this economy, I can tell it eats at them having to ask their child for money to be able to pay rent. There are also very real consequences to just introducing gold into the economy. When Mansa Musa, the richest man in history, visited Egypt with tons of gold it devastated their economy for months. However, I doubt that would be a massive issue with one family doing it. Yes, he's a strict parent and not supportive of her choices. He has strong opinions on gender roles, he also has a temper but he's never violent and I can't remember a case where his outrage didn't have a reason for it. He's willing to work at a Burger Joint in his 40s-50s to support his family, he doesn't want unnecessary charity because there are people who need it more and his reasoning for not wanting his daughter to be a superhero is because superheroes face superdangers.
@@GamerGrovyle I have to disagree he’s far from being a good person; he consistently insult his own daughter and is emotionally abusive, just because he never got physically violent doesn’t mean he’s not a horrible person, he’s been saying so many horrible things to eve since she was a kid and there were plenty of outrages and tantrums that definitely didn’t have any reason. More importantly this behavior started long before she got her powers as we see in the atom eve special, her not being like all the other kids was enough for her dad to constantly look at her with disgust, even calling her a freak at some point. That’s not only messed up parenting it’s just horrible behavior, he might’ve always supported family financially but constantly abuses them emotionally every time he’s on screen
I think the underwater fight felt weird because of the fact it was underwater, except space Mark is mostly used to fighting on earth with bigger gravity and air is easier to go trough than water 😉 as always this was a great video, im having so much fun watching your reactions to the show 😁
Look, that there is Bobby Hill. Peggy Hill's single most important condition for Bobby going to work for the government was that he always come back alive, and use a codename. You don't let her baby boy die!
I thought it was a universe where humans were genderbent compared to our main story. Which is why it had a genderbent Cecil and Donald, but Mark and Omni-man weren't genderbent.
Just a quick reminder that pulling gold out of nowhere and introducing it into the economy can cause inflation and Eve is in fact NOT an architect. Meanwhile this man lost his job because a father and son with too much power got into a tiff, he probably lost friends to that fight, and his daughter's solution is immediately to abuse her powers to just fix it while directly ignoring his own wishes of wanting to earn money honestly rather than by breaking the law, which Eve absolutely would be by using superpowers to generate currency. Fullmetal Alchemist explicitly had a rule that alchemists can't make gold for EXACTLY this reason, and other similar settings have rules like this as well. So no doubt a world of super powers would have similar laws. Man's definitely got a tone problem, but his opposition to supers is NOT invalid. His daughter whom he almost lost when she (he believes) was born almost dead getting super powers, thinking she's invincible, and going out to fight insane murderers and monsters being the worst day of his life is ONE HUNDRED percent valid. Eve says she's happy, but let's also remember she lives all alone in the forest and has gotten together with her friends like, one time since she moved out there. Not having time for friends nearly made Mark give up superheroing altogether. Eve actually DID give it up, and she's still isolated herself from everyone who cares about her. She has nothing but time, but she spends it all helping people. Sure hope she doesn't find out the world isn't that simple and she can't just snap her fingers and fix everything because she's more powerful than the normal folk....... Ahem.
Also the "fake gold" statement is very valid. Because golden things of some actual value must have an actual brand that states some info of where and when it was made how pure it is and some unique number/marking/indicator to prove its legitimness. Which the apple she made totally doesnt have and therefore would be legally unsellable. He would have to go to some shady black market with it or something. And Eve fixing the buildings wall is nice and all but I really doubt she has the deep knowledge of that specific building layout to make the plumbing and electricity and such work with the rest of the building. Which is why the architect was like "how tf we know if this is up to code" But the father is still a total asshole and cant say a single sentence without hurting someone by the tone and the way he says things.
Eve wouldn't be breaking any laws, creating gold. What FMA has to say on the subject is irrelevant. If gold is a crime, why isn't making a fridge full of food?
A lot of your argument is invalid due to you basing this off the fact that your HEADCANNONING the reason Eve's dad is a bad dad because he's against people with superpowers in general. Rewatch the Atom Eve special He was shifty dad before he knew Eve had superpowers on the basis of She wasn't "normal". If her abnormalities were due to her being autistic rather than her having superpowers he'd still be a shitty dad. Having, A POINT, doesn't make him not an asshole. He isn't using any of his points because he wants better for Eve, he's using it because he wants to be right. Also, it's not a tone problem. It's just him being emotionally and verbally abusive to his daughter.
Invincible is also just the name he picked for himself. Even if he was "Invincible" imagine constantly drowning but not dying if not just passing out, Like Mark did in episode one when he flew too high up and ran out of air. And when Mark Fought Allen in Space, Omniman said "you don't" as in breath in space, and he flew down to take a breath then went back up.

I skimmed it and I pretty much agree but it's just a regular hot head burnout and he needs to talk to someone tho I doubt he'd ever take professional help
I'd say 4/10. Sure he doesn't want her to be a superhero but it wasn't just that. He was against her being really smart as well. He'd constantly put her down in her face and behind her back and this is before knowing she even has powers. Its strange because from his perspective, he got a miracle baby that somehow came back after being pronounced dead, but needs and expects her to be and stay normal in all/most aspects. Also how he spoke to her when he learned she broke up with Rex. "Don't be a ..." is his response to his own daughter telling him, her ex cheated on her. Can't see a rating higher than 5 for him but not the worst.
The meanest version of great power comes with great responsibility. Its hilarious. It sort of stems from the comics version of eve. In the comics eve has moments where shes very belittling towards non powered humans. Honestly it wasnt great because it was wrapped up in her aggressive feelings towards Eve. The show just does it better imo
Seeing how Debbie had to hold back upon seeing the woman get treated like garbage by her partner really stood out to me. You can tell it was taking everything for her to not say something worse.
YES IM SO EXCITED FOR YALL TO SEE HAZBIN HOTEL Also im sorry but I have to disagree a little. Atom Eve's dad DOES care a LOT. The issue is he's literally the worst at expressing it. His concern translates to anger, and he's too stubborn to see/change that. So he's a terrible person, but he absolutely do *care* about Eve, just in his own really terrible, fucked up and abusive way.
Hazbin will probably explode their viewership since it always riles up the masses. I just hope they say nothing bad about it, because the moment you point out it's painfully flawed writing, the fans release the hounds on you.
@Letts React You mentioned you saw the online hatred for Amber's character. A lot of it comes from the way they changed her character in the shower from the comic. In the comics, most almost all of the characters are pretty much the same and the show has only messed with the timeline of things a little because it flowed better with the show. But Amber's character was radically changed for no reason known at this time. In the comics, Amber doesn't figure it he is a super hero until he tells her after she thinks he is stepping out on him. She has a normal reaction of "wow my boyfriend is a superhero!" Its actually a much better relationship and her character makes a lot more sense. She was well liked in the comic books and the fanbase, which is made up a lot of people who read the comics first, just didn't like seeing a character changed for no reason. When asked about the reasoning behind changing her character up, the writers of the show said "Well the show was too white". Keep in mind, this is a comic book that came out in the early 2000s and had a severely diverse cast even by today's standards. So it upset the fanbase even more because it was one of those "So diversity for the sake of diversity even though this is a highly diverse story and show without that need." So it rightfully upset many people off. Those who were mentioning the political side of it and the culture war side of it, I saw groups from both "sides" basically saying we don't like it when Liberals or conservatives do it. She was a well liked character that was changed for no real reason at all. Just thought I would share so the backlash you mentioned about her made more sense to other viewers.
her character in the comics sucks, she’s barely a character. 0 importance. You just wrote an essay trying to justify your unreasonable hate for a fictional character. Get some fresh air

I agree the dad sucks most of the time but what's wrong with his honest days job line? Eve was in the wrong setting him off asking "Why are you wearing a burger mart shirt" not knowing the situation. He has bills to pay and isn't willing to exploit his kid to make ends meet and keep food on the table. Hate him for his sexist remarks all day but Eve was clearly looking down on his new job which would anger anyone who just lost a job they spent 20 years at.
If you’re watching hazbin hotel I can not stress the importance of watching at the very least season 1 of helluva boss. You’re gonna have a lot of questions about it’s universe that simply won’t be explained in hazbin hotel, and it’s better to watch helluva than to just look at the wiki

look im not gonna defend him as a good dad or nothin, but the writers do a good job at making him believably human and write him in a way where its obvious he does care, just cannot for the life of him show it correctly and i feel that personal stuff may be clouding the ol judgment train, though thats far from a new or bad thing, just is, guy still sucks but yeah this shows character writing for all of them is genuinely great edit: also in the comics though ive never read them so this is secondhand info, but appearently in them he DOES actually have to marry and.. celebrate.. the union, though im not sure how it was resolved he obviously doesnt do it (i think) so its an interesting change to the screen from page
How can you easily hate Eve's dad, but find it hard to figure out why Amber is hated? Eve's dad is terrible and Amber is selfish to an unforgivable degree, she's like Tobey's MJ but 1000x worse.

@@relawc8736 good thing I never called him a good dad. and respectfully I disagree, while it does matter how you say it, as a parent you can’t afford to sugar coat everything. Could he be a little nicer, yes. But Eve is 18, and part of being an adult is learning to move past little things like tone, and being more rational So while I understand Eve getting upset with HOW he is saying it, she need to learn to understand WHAT he is saying
Eve's Dad doesn't suck... okay, he does, but hear me out. He's a case of a person trying to do the right thing but in the wrong and worst ways. When you listen to what he's saying and the reasons behind it, HE'S RIGHT. But because of how he says it and how he acts, it makes you not like him and not want to listen to him. His whole thing is that he wants Eve to be safe, kept out of danger. Is that bad? No that's what any good parent wants for their child. He wants Eve to be normal. That sounds bad, but consider this. The Guardians are dead, Mark almost died fighting his own father, and had to witness countless deaths. In a world where that's not abnormal for superheroes, is it so bad that a parent wants to give his child some normalcy and stability? And then there's the food situation. His point is that nothing beats hard work and that Eve shouldn't be relying on her powers to solve everything, especially not the problems that powers cause. And HE'S RIGHT. At the end of the day, it wasn't Mark having powers that saved the earth, it was Mark being human, it was Debbie being human. The things he says are valid and correct at their core... but he piles on a bunch of ugliness on top of it, sonit's hard to see it and it's hard to look past his character flaws. He's a parallel to Omniman in that regard. Whereas Omni-man was a Good Guy on the outside, planning to do Wrong Eve's dad is a Bad Guy on the outside, but he's trying to do right. No one looks at Superman's parents, the Kents, and says they're bad for wanting to raise him normal. But that's only because they're good people, inside and outside. Borderline perfect parents. Eve's dad isn't borderline perfect, and that's what ultimately makes the difference for Eve and us the viewers... So he doesn't suck... but he does suck.
Am I the only one who really doen't like about Duplikate and Inmortal dating? I know it would be innapropiate with everyone in the globe. But come on, not a person that just entered adult hood. That's just weird
From a co-worker standpoint, it's a bad idea. From an age standpoint, it's weird, but it's up to them who they wanna date. They are both consenting adults.
as much as Eve's dad is an asshole, I do understand some of where he's coming from. He is most likely used to being the patriarch of the family, so Eve being able to effortlessly make all of his efforts pointless would definitely feel like an insult to his manhood.
To him not taking the Gold Apple. It more of I disagree with the way you choose to live you life. Taking money from you, would be acknowledging that I lm wrong in thinking that. I think you give the dad to much of a hard time. From his point of view I can understand how he is. I will debate anyone on this.
A lot of his points are valid, but he goes about it in the most horrible way. Instead of telling Eve she needs to be more careful next time he just tells her she's dangerous and acts like a douche. I will say though this isn't the most awkward conversation he has in the comic. There's a certain dinner scene that makes me hard cringe thinking of it.
@@NickG409I think it’s funny considering they nailed AOT and are doing good so far here by getting it all. I agree that maybe the dad has a couple good points here and there, however your points are completely irrelevant if you don’t how to speak like a respectful human being. The reactors get this.
There's also the possibility of becoming too reliant on somebody who can make anything at anytime. Too many people would become lazy when you can have somebody make anything that people need.
Nah, Eve's "dad" is a pathetic, abusive douche who only uses valid points to cut down Eve's autonomy and self-esteem. He doesn't care about her so much as he wants to control her.
No, Eve’s dad sucks. Does he car yes, but he cares more for old family, man is the head and you need to always listen to him values. So yeah her dad sucks.
I like Eve's parents as characters. They're normal people who want to be normal, and thus want Eve to be normal, and have no aspirations to be anything greater than that. They're the stereotypical traditional 50s family. But they're shitty parents because they prioritize being normal over Eve and her ability to be extraordinary. It ties in well with season 2's overall theme of finding balance between normalcy and heroism.

I do like the joke about how they've done away with that barbaric practice, only to replace it Wit the equally barbaric fight to the death though.
it’s hilarious how many people can sympathize with Eve’s dad while simultaneously hating Amber so much. Literally makes no sense
I've never seen a single person supporting eve's dad
@@everburn Right! All I hear is hate for him. A lot of people say hes a worse father than Omni Man.
(At 10:56) Ben Schwartz?! Called it! They actually got _Sonic the Hedgehog from 2020_ and Leonardo from _ROTTMNT from 2018_ on here.
No spoilers, but for anyone who has read the comics we all Eve’s father gets much worse
I love that everyone agrees that Eve has a worse father than Mark
Human hearts are three-chambered, so the guy was trying to sound more 'Human' by mentioning his Human-like heart.
The two-handed punch is a Captain Kirk classic! Together with the "human roller" on the floor... How can you not know that? 😂
Y'know to be _fair_ to Cecil
There's apparently an entire intergalactic empire of people who could _job_ Mark like it's nothing. It's way past time for him looking for countermeasures to be a _problem._
Piccolo: "I figured out how to beat them. We just have to punch them, really hard. Like Goku."
(At 13:13) Atom Eve: Suck on THAT! Fullmetal Alchemist!
Montana's "pause" caught me off guard.
I always felt The Lizard League were very GI Joe inspired with Cobra and Supreme Lizard being very similar to the GI Joe character Serpentor
Yeah that’s what I picked up too; the dude with the cobra hood looks exactly like an action figure my friend had. I saw in another comment section that they’re actually supposed to be based on a Marvel villain team or something. 🤷
I live in the DC area and the depiction of the National mall/monument is pretty accurate.
That pause has me dying I would’ve never thought you’d make a joke like that it was hilarious caught me off guard 😂
I’m just now noticing your shirt has a cart and coffee wtf I’m dying 😭😂😂😂 I love this
The only thing relatable about Eve’s dad is I don’t like having to rely on others, because it makes me feel useless
you gotta think, food coming out of nowhere can’t be safe so if i was her dad i wouldn’t trust some of the stuff she can make as well. even in the comics it’s said her food taste off
I’m with the dad for this one specific situation.
He doesn't want handouts because he's embarrassed about needing to be rescued by his child when he's failing to provide for his family (*also it is so strange that Montana questioned that he has been providing for his family since before Eve was born, like... yes? He's clearly not allowing Eve to magic up food and money for them, someone pays for the food and the house and in that very scene, Eve mentions that he worked at the same store for twenty years!

Which is why it had a genderbent Cecil and Donald, but Mark and Omni-man weren't genderbent.
... Was Debbie genderbent? Because I was not expecting that.

You definitely have to watch the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel first, then the Prime series! Love your content!
Which is why the architect was like "how tf we know if this is up to code"
But the father is still a total asshole and cant say a single sentence without hurting someone by the tone and the way he says things.
Lol, you’re hilarious.
all this yapping just to be objectively wrong
React to Amphibia, Kipo, or Young Justice after Invincible.
Hazbin Hotel will be after Invincible, but those are all good choices.
@@katchkartoonsOf course it's fucking Hazbin Hotel.
They already gave YJ a quick look. I think they’ll come back to it eventually.

I would say he gets a 6/10 on the parent rating. He could do a lot better but he's not doing it for bad reasons.
Yea that was weird when she questioned her dad providing for all those years🫤🤨
I skimmed it and I pretty much agree but it's just a regular hot head burnout and he needs to talk to someone tho I doubt he'd ever take professional help
He is a bad father, but I understand why he wouldn’t want those things that his daughter create
I love how she mentioned vacationing in my island home St. Lucia
Can you guys start doing “The boys” it has shock factor just like this but also real good story and character development for every character
YES IM SO EXCITED FOR YALL TO SEE HAZBIN HOTEL
Also im sorry but I have to disagree a little.
Begging you to watch young justice when you get a chance

I choose to believe that their names are Cecilia and Donna.

So you guys are watching House of The Dragon, honestly surprised you didn't want to make it into content
I know having something to watch outside of work should be very good, but at the same time, a lot of hype surrounds the show when it is releasing, and watching you react to stuff is always fun so, there's that
It was very poetic how the first live action series you guys dropped was The Last Airbender, it makes me wonder if more live action shows reactions are on the table
Ben Schwartz is also in the VERY cool DuckTales 2019 series.
Mark is indestructible but he is not invincible
Actually, Kenneth, "Invincible" means you cannot be harmed.
So death would be included.
If you’re watching hazbin hotel I can not stress the importance of watching at the very least season 1 of helluva boss. You’re gonna have a lot of questions about it’s universe that simply won’t be explained in hazbin hotel, and it’s better to watch helluva than to just look at the wiki

Invincible isn't because of his physical prowess but because of his mental resilience in face of adversity
look im not gonna defend him as a good dad or nothin, but the writers do a good job at making him believably human and write him in a way where its obvious he does care, just cannot for the life of him show it correctly
and i feel that personal stuff may be clouding the ol judgment train, though thats far from a new or bad thing, just is, guy still sucks
but yeah this shows character writing for all of them is genuinely great
edit: also in the comics though ive never read them so this is secondhand info, but appearently in them he DOES actually have to marry and.. celebrate.. the union, though im not sure how it was resolved he obviously doesnt do it (i think) so its an interesting change to the screen from page
How can you easily hate Eve's dad, but find it hard to figure out why Amber is hated? Eve's dad is terrible and Amber is selfish to an unforgivable degree, she's like Tobey's MJ but 1000x worse.

Would you want a super powered kid, I sure as hell wouldn’t
Defending eves dad calling him a good father is straight up defending abuse. Especially when she didn’t choose to get these powers.
The reactors did acknowledge eves problems later but you probably missed it considering you typed this up.
@@relawc8736The way I see it the dad wants her to have an easier, safer life but just genuinely does not understand how important her powers are to her or that she could be happy any other way but his way.

Whereas Omni-man was a Good Guy on the outside, planning to do Wrong
Eve's dad is a Bad Guy on the outside, but he's trying to do right.
Not defending Eve's dad but i get the not wanting the handouts. It makes you feel like you failed as a father(even tho he already did)
Just so you guys know 8/10 times forest fires are never good for the ecosystem

I know it would be innapropiate with everyone in the globe. But come on, not a person that just entered adult hood. That's just weird
I'm personally alright with anything as long as she is actually of age.
Eve dad is horrible but I do think he cares about his daughter in his own way.
Well they are not know for understanding Characters or the Story very well. Its black and white with this couple.
@@NickG409I think it’s funny considering they nailed AOT and are doing good so far here by getting it all.
