    only just found this video..absolute perfection.
    on the slow mo you can see the point where 99.9% of riders would be catapulted of the bike highside stylee but this guy is so in control,so relaxed that all those opposing forces just manifest themselves into a slight tilting of his head. thank you for this video Simon.

      Funny story - on one of the takes he almost lost it and if he had he'd have ran straight into the us behind the camera

    Big respect dear Simon. I totally agree with the statement that "riding should not be about electronics". If a person want electronics to control the traction and breaking power, he'd better go and play on PlayStation...
    It is a sports discipline FFS! Late breaking, tire management, throttle control - all these are the skills of a true rider!

    Absolutely Stunning. I was talking to a motorcycle police officer yesterday at work and we got into TC vs non-TC and came to the conclusion that if you don't know what to do or can't handle a bike when the back end steps out under power, you shouldn't be riding that bike.

    Brilliant vid, for such a short clip I found it both inspiring and refreshing. A short and meaningful story and the impact of the slo-mo of the first slide/spin, hangin it right out there, was awe inspiring. Great stuff. As Vale used to say before the arrival of (full) elecs, "the difference between riders is about the ability to communicate between the opening of the throttle and tyre grip" (something like that). Well done Mr Crafar. By the way, still one of the best lid paintjobs in the biz

    Zee Martinovic absolutely right with. A true rider doesn’t need traction control, because skill is better then electronics. Now having traction control in a race can help you push the bike further knowing you don’t have to correct the traction when it will do it for you so you can use traction controls your advantage. It don’t make you a better rider

    Wonderful control, beautiful vid. I agree with the sentiment entirely, it's partly why I love my Katoom so deeply....simplicity, power and no TC! Let's not forget tho - Suzuki were the first to bring us switchable/low power engine maps, to protect people (that didn't know how to control their throttle hand) from themselves. Now even KTM have given in to the pressure of switchable maps - how much more can biking be dumbed down?!

    I dont think we're ever going to eliminate electronic aids from racing now because of the associated link with showroom sales BUT going the same way that the BSB championship has gone and having control ECUs is like you say a good answer. We'll see how that plays out this season although (I'm proud to say) BSB is ALWAYS a superbly entertaining championship. Super video btw...shame i cant afford a gixxer right now.

    Just read in April Roadracing World magazine that the cost of the Magneti Marelli Marvel 4 engine management system on the Yoshimura Superbikes racing in the AMA series is $US40,00 per bike, and that the team spends $US300,000 a year (personnel etc) to maintain and run this system on four bikes (two riders). $US300,000 would buy a lot of tyres...

    takes a real man to take a bike to its limits without any electronics working, and also knowing no electronics are there. Yes electronics do help but do u prefer riding a bike or a bike riding you.

    It wasn't the onboard computer tracking my every movement,
    It wasn't the launch control giving me the perfect start,
    It wasn't anti-wheelie or ABS,
    It definitely wasn't the TRACTION CONTROL;
    Take the power back,take control and take responsibility.
    LIMIT IS YOURS, YOURS ONLY!
    As a pure Suzuki fan/trader/lover I expect to have ABS and Traction control on L4 next year.
    Unfortunately;I wan't more pure power,not electronics! GSX-R 1000 should differentiate the mens from boys as before ;)

  • @TheSydguy30
    @TheSydguy30 12 років тому

    My first bike was no electronics, I liked it, the raw feeling of the bike, the electronics are basically ways of saving either A) Idiots or B) People that can't ride, all I need is the throttle as my traction control and if you can ride it is all you need, if you can't just learn how to, over paying for stuff we don't need and just weighs down the bike.

    Funny how successfully Suzuki tries to turn deficiency into strength! :D
    Give me all the rider aids you can come up with, but make it possible to deactivate them.
    I personally would love me some ABS for rainy autumn days, but I want to be able to switch it off.
    Best of both worlds.
