My wife and I have been flipping dining room sets for a year now. We buy sets whenever we come across them and refinish them as we go. Our sets usually sell within a day or so and usually for full asking price. Pictures are a huge component to sales. Something as simple as flowers in a pretty vase on the table make it stand out as people are scrolling Facebook Marketplace. We buy mistinted paint from Sherwin Williams for $1/qt or $2/gallon. We only buy Pro Classic or Emerald series. These are long-wearing paints made for woodwork. Always light greys, creams and whites. Our average margin is about 400% but as high at 1,200%. We’ve paid for 2 Italian vacations and a kitchen remodel with the income. It can be very lucrative if someone is creative, handy and motivated.
Yes, where are you from. Around here no matter how little you pay for something, no matter how much work and money you put into it, people will want it for next to free.
I build rustic furniture. I had en entire driveway full of it and most was selling well with the exception of a very tall and skinny cupboard with shelves and a door. I rolled up a towel and put that on one of the shelves and it sold in five minutes. Sometime people can't visualize where or what to use a piece of furniture for. You need to spark ideas into their heads sometimes. Great advice, thanks very much!
Priceless information! Thanks for the many tips. Many won't share points like this afraid of competition. You share skills which makes you a leader in this industry! Keep it up!
I completely agree with Crystal Backmon this is BEYOND helpful and sadly in the world people don't always love to share their knowledge and I thank you a million times over for helping us newbies!!! You will be paid over in good karma!! lol
I watched this video after painting my first piece and started my brand and business! I have been running it full time for 3 years now!! Thank you for always inspiring me!!
Being a union painter and finish worker...I really need to do this! I have the space, I have the vehicle, I have the style, I have the skill, I have the vision! Thanks!
I learn so much from you, guys! You truly inspire me and push me to make better and grow my business. Just a year ago I started from a Christmas wood decorations like a stock hanging wood boards and now here I am, making flipping furniture pieces and involved my husband and we both become inspired by your story! So thank you!
I have been flipping furniture for the past 4 years out of a little Dodge Neon. It was hard. I had to borrow trucks from relatives. Now, I upgraded to a Scion Xb, whuch is like a van. I love it and can do larger pieces easier. I love color, but many customers are afraid to buy colorful pieces. I study trends and am not above repainting like you did on your hutch. Great video!
That’s so great! Keep going! I’d paint more colors too but the farmhouse style really sells in my area and sometimes you have to just get the bills paid!
I just came across this video and I wish I could have seen it sooner. My late grandmother started her own antique store just by refurbishing her first item: a wooden chair. She made quite a lot of money by doing that, until she moved to house flipping (in a matter of about 10 years, she had enough money saved up to buy 2 or 3 houses and flipped them and rented them out). I am a VERY creative person and I took a lot of woodworking classes in high school which I finished last year. I would love to start flipping, and this helps me out a lot. Thank you so much for your knowledge!
Jami, this is coming from a person who has junked and painted for decades! You are so fun, I love your enthusiasm and yes being true to yourself. I may be late in finding you but I’m having fun purchasing your products and love watching you and Zeb make a living while giving us a window into your lives. You’re very inspiring to the younger generation which is so important because it brings the past decor back to life. My mom was a junker and she always said no idea is new, it’s just revamped! I learned from the best now I’m learning from you! You and Zeb are a great example of marriage too!
Jamie, I can't believe you are so willing to share all the tricks of the trade. I feel like you have confidence or as I tell my children "faith" in us. You really are the best.
I have the utmost respect for you and your business. I've purchased paint , brushes and molds from you and they are in the mail and I have them in no time. Just the fact that you are sharing all this information with us is amazing. One artist took so much time on a UA-cam video to tell us how rude it was to ask her about the paint colors she used. I was shocked. As if someone could copy her technique. Thank you for being secure in your talent and sharing your knowledge with us. I wish you and your husband all the success that you deserve. Thank you so much.
I think you answered every question I’ve had! The one I hadn’t even thought of? Adding the rug. Something as simple as adding a rug makes such a difference. Thank you so much!! 😊
Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge. I really do enjoy watching you and Zeb. You both have great personalities, talent and make a heck of a team.
Thank you for the tips! My husband does estate clean outs so I get a lot of “trash” and I recently decided to stop hoarding all my finished pieces and sell them to share the joy✨ I appreciate your advice! Keep on shining🤩
Thank you so much Jamie for all your information. My father used to say if you want to be successful learn from someone who is already successful. Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful knowledge and your passion for turning trash into treasure.
What a great video Jami. Am watching in the early Morning.from Italy covered witj one dog and 2 cats and looking at the dark Italian furniture in my bedroom and getting closer to abandoning tradition and going back to my roots:. New England farmhpuse look. Thank you for all of your sage advice.
I started buying pieces for myself and did my homework on how to chalk paint, glaze, wax , distress and I share with Facebook my end results and get so many compliments on the talent I have and that I should sell, so this video you shared might push me to give it a try! Thanks ☺
i'm so glad i discovered you on here... you're so easy to listen to, articulate enough to keep my attention despite my adult ADHD, and inspiring... i'm just about to move to a friend's house, where there'll be plenty of space and supplies for me to start out, and i know i'll be referring back to you from time to time as i go... i already do decoupage boxes, but lately i've been wanting to get into furniture... i'll probably start small, like side tables, lamps, etc, but i know i'll want to tackle bigger, heavier stuff eventually... thank you so much for giving all of this guidance!!!
This was so incredibly helpful. Thank you!!!!! I just found you today on UA-cam. My passion for the past 5 years has been finding gems that people threw away in the trash or finding things at thrift stores and turning them into beautiful pieces. I enjoy the process so much. Almost every piece of wood furniture in my home are things that people just threw out and I refinished. I ditched my dream to help my husband start a gym. I have gotten so caught up with coaching, running the business, and supporting him that I have neglected my true passion. About 4 months ago we decided that I would back away now that the business is steady and I can now pursue what I have wanted to do all along which is flipping furniture. Even though I’ve been a hardcore entrepreneur for the past 5 years, this new endeavor is a whole other beast even though on the business side of things the practices still apply I have a lot to learn. Thank you for being candid and giving this advice. It means a lot and I cannot wait to keep watching your videos so that I can learn more from you.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I am watching -- or rather listening to your videos while I am painting furniture for my own home. I keep mulling on whether flipping furniture is something I want to get into in as I really enjoy it! You will be me go to for sure if I do start down the road!
you look so incredibly comfortable in front of the camera, it makes me feel like we are having a chat and coffee together! Great big thanks to you for being so generous with your experience and valuable information, THANK YOU!
Excellent tips! Always a pleasure to watch and learn from someone who has gone through the process of getting into the DIY trade. Your enthusiasm and knowledge are greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!!
I just found and subscribed to your channel and I I just LOVE your videos! And for the record....I NEVER actually do what I am doing right now-commenting is not something I EVER do!! Until tonight! I had to extend a thank you, to you first of all, for making your videos and doing them just like you are my girlfriend that is showing me her secrets and tips! You are very informative, unique, REAL, and no bullshit....and I just really enjoy your style! Not just your style in the makeovers you do, but also in your style of sharing and teaching. You are very real and unlike many videos on UA-cam that could be very good, but the person in the video will end up dragging it on or seeming like they are talking just to hear their own voice and I end up having to skip to the end....lol...but I have actually been interested enough and for the 1st time EVER....I watched several of your videos tonight the entire way through and didn't have to fast forward any of them to the end to keep my sanity!! lol....But seriously, you have a new fan and hope to continue to learn from you and see many more of your videos in their entirety! Thanks so much!! :) Your finished pieces are always BEAUTIFUL and ONE OF KIND!!
Thank you! Glad the videos help! ❤️❤️ also, watch out for the live streamed videos lol. We tend to go long and answer a lot of questions from people who commented live so there can be lots of talking. 😊
I just saw this video on my feed. Thank you so much for the advice and for taking the time to do this video. I appreciate that you shared what you do with your business. Thank you very much.
Thanks so much for sharing! I find pieces quite often in my own neighborhood on garbage nights (free, of course) it's amazing what people throw away! 👏
How incredibly cool! I've done a couple of murals (one on a desk top once-a mermaid). And I've always thought in the back of my mind...gee it would be cool to transform junk from the roadside and sell it. Priceless info here. Thanks for generously sharing!!
Yay!!!!! Thanks so much. I did my first project yesterday. I'm surprised I made it passed kindergarten because my painting needs serious improvement. I will work on smaller pieces until I can get the hang of it. You are great!!!!
Why people give thumbs down . Great information . Awesome tips and it's free. Not everyone want to give you all info how they do things because they scare . Thanks so much for all the info and tip . You are the real deal. Thanks

You are really good at your videos. Informative. I love when people get to the point. Then you enjoy their opinions and add lib! Teach others how to make good videos.
Thank you oh, so much for sharing all of this pertinent spot-on information! This was an amazing informational video... It was really nice to feel like you were being upfront and not jerking us around oh, I'm going to send a ton of my friends to subscribe to this channel.
Thank you so much for this information. I started painting furniture as a hobby for my own house. Many people have commented on how much they really like my work and if I had considered selling any of the pieces. I am very interested in learning as much as I can about different painting techniques and how to make money flipping furniture. I love your videos!!
Thank you so much Jami for all the information. I bought a few pieces from an estate sale and redid them for myself after paying someone to do a couple of pieces this past Summer, I realized not only could I save $$, but I am creative and I should at least try it, so now my husband is running out of space in our garage...(he's a picker too, lol) You answered all my questions of concern about starting a business.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video...I really enjoyed your honest assessment of this career. I like your style and hope to purchase something soon. God Bless!!
Brilliant. Great advice there. I've got to get making me a booth -but first a craft space!!! Great advice for ANYONE trying to sell. Defo saving it for future reference too. Thank you so much for taking the time to share all this. Much appreciated.
My sister’s mother in law sent birthday cakes she baked via grey hound as she had 8 boys living all over USA. They always go there ok. That was 40 years ago now but thought it interesting back then.
Thank you for this video, I know I'm a little behind because of the posting date. I'm looking to start a new business like this after many years in engineering and appreciate the insite. Looking to follow my passion and make new dreams. Thanks again for inspiration and information.
That’s right I was coming to come look last weekend to see what u had . I was looking for hutch . Okay great now I can come see your work u have great taste .

I recently learned you can send furniture via greyhound! It's cheaper than FedEx and ups!
Thanks for sharing! Have you tried this?
My sister’s mother in law sent birthday cakes she baked via grey hound as she had 8 boys living all over USA. They always go there ok. That was 40 years ago now but thought it interesting back then.
Just read a Readers Digest story about Greyhound shipping back in the day!! Who knew??
