VW intermediate shaft bearings: what's available to buy in 2023?

- I somewhat awkwardly try to describe what I know about VW intermediate shaft (IM or lower camshaft) bearing construction types and initial clearances, what failed bearings look like, and what is available to buy and install today in 2023.
No edits, no regrets.
Great topic. There are so many brands and the wrong ones will leave you with low oil pressure. Some even have to be reamed to fit. The driver is a nice way to test fit. You could also try sliding them over the I-shaft to see how they compare. Even though the inside diameter will change once they are pressed into the block.
Seems like hastings were too small and needed reamed, durabond were too loose, I tried clevite for awhile, but low oil pressure was pretty consistant in the blocks I put them in. Now I have good oil pressure and use sealed power? maybe, I'll check the package.
Using the pully after it's all bolted together, the shaft should turn kinda hard. Might even need the wrench. If it turns easy, I'd worry about oil pressure. Once oil pressure is up it will spin easier.
Blue lock-tite on the I-shaft bolt. Putting a socket on the head of the seal carrier bolt, through the pully hole, will keep the pully from turning while you torque it.
Looks like original green paint on that block.
What tool did you use for removal and install
