if you want a thorny monster for your permiter, look no further than Kiowa or Lawton. They're like razors. (Floricane-fruiting only though). The Lawton is a very old variety and I mostly just bought it because of the story
Nice! Yeah I have like 15 ark 45 plants and more black raspberry than I can count. Started with 2 black raspberry plants and i propagated to 20 last year and this year I estimate somewhere around 200
i gave away most of my Prime Ark Freedoms, didn't like the flavor at all. Still waiting on my Prime Ark 45 to flower, excited to taste it! I have a ton of different varieties and just trying to see what survives here in the Texas heat :)
It’s interesting how they all have a different flavor profile. I’ve also noticed the same variety in different microclimates/locations in my yard will have different flavors as well. The ark45 with 4 hours of sun has a more mellow flavor than one that gets 12 hours of sunlight. Also some that were mulched more than others or watered more than others have different flavor balance
@@thechaosgardener I do still have one more Prime Ark Freedom in-ground instead of in containers, I'm hoping the flavor improves the second year, and after mulching. I just posted a video of the varieties that are still alive in my back yard if you're interested. I'll remember to update you if my PA Freedom flavor improves next year!
