    I really love this talk through your process. Sometimes when a craftsman makes their pieces look so seamless and effortless, it's easy to forget or miss how much planning and time goes into just finding the form in the medium. Really insightful and interesting stuff. Great video, as always, Mike! Hope you and yours are well~

      Thank you! I've been thinking that I needed to show a little more of the process and the difficulties that I come across. In the past I avoided showing the defects in the wood and my struggles. But I think it's more constructive to show that there is an enormous amount of planning that goes into the project, even before I begin to carve.

    I finally scraped together 50 dollars for some tools to remove big pieces. My fingers are too weak from illness to do much with even the sharpest tools. I have gifted all my work. It made people really happy. You started me on this road. Thank you so much.

    I just started making little wood carvings out of scrap wood pieces. So far I made a polar bear, a toucan, and a hippo peaking it's head out the water. You inspire me so much sir. I can't wait for your next video. But until then, I've got many more of yours to watch.

    I believe Michael Angelo said something quite similar about approaching a block of marble: He knew the statue already existed within the marble, he just had to chisel away until he found it.

    Another amazing job. Pearl nows when you need to take a little break and relax and go fishing. I just smoked 10 rainbow trout this week yummy in the tummy. Keep up the great videos

    Well now, I think I might not keep that at my bedside. If I woke up half way during the night like I do and saw it there I might injure myself trying to get away from it. It really does look real. Your attention to detail is off the charts.
