"Hello! Today I'm working on a Rattlesnake staff. This is number 80. It is going to have a little mouse on it.
(1:29)The industrial wheel has two carbide teeth on it. It cuts very fast and makes a 3/8 inch depth cut. I remove the wood with a chisel.
(3:20) The mouse on this project has perplexed me. I want it to be climbing up the side of the stick, just out of the reach of the Rattlesnake.
(3:33) I searched the internet for reference pictures. But I could not find anything that looked exactly like I wanted.
(3:42)I don't know how many times I sketched it again before I actually began to carve.
(3:50)I finally began to remove the wood without any assurance of how the project would turn out.
(4:35)Do you see that bird?
(4:59) You're looking at the wrong bird!
At first I was like, "He needs to be wearing a mask, all that dust he's kicking up." But then I thought, "Nah, his beard probably filters most of that out."
Beautiful.
Georgia, you, are, sooooo hilarious!!! You really ought to be on the stage - Wells Fargo!!
No
My jaw dropped when i realized you were going to wood burn each and every scale 😍 that’s dedication. you are a true artist.
It's a lot of work for sure! Thank you, Jason!
@@StinnettSticks would it have look different if you started at the tail first then go to the head with the scale?.
For some reason, it actually brought tears to my eyes
edmundo oliver The scales wouldn’t have been accurate to how a real life rattlesnake’s scales are if he did it from tail to head :)
Yes, I was going to same the same thing.
When UA-cam finally gets recommendations right
right, was just watching this and thinking why hasnt this been recommended to me yet.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought you were burning a live animal's eye, that's how realistic your work is
I was searching this comment
When you saw the thumbnail then I will grind it and polish it. The result might br breathtaking !
@@joaquintoco i was expecting this reply
I was showing my husband these videos and went to click on the thumbnail for this video and he went, "What is he doing to that mouse?? ... IS THAT A REAL MOUSE?" The quality is so gooood
I thought the same
You sir are an Artist with a capital "A". Truly gifted.
Really like how you don't talk "too much" you let your work do all the talking, gives it a more clear message and in turn makes you an humble artist.
Fully agree. Such a relaxing video where the Art and skill does the talking.
🐭 : "...................... ................... .... .............. . . . :)"
Sir,
THIS is amazing! Your eye for details, the whole video - the music, the nature, your sweet dog.
I‘m impressed by your artwork and would like to thank you for sharing this with us!
It reminds me to do more in my life!
You live in a right way!
all the best
You're very welcome, and thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that you enjoy my videos!
This young man does some great wood art carving. As a carver myself I know first hand the time and patience that it takes to create a one of a kind work of art. Unfortunately its an art that is dying out today people want to do things fast and when it comes to selling your work they don't want to pay you for that time and patience it took to make what ever it is you have made with all your heart and sole. It on trucken friend.
The fact that he burns it all in, instead of painting it, is amazing...
When this stick gets petrified, 100 millions years from now, people are going to claim it is a fossil of a real mouse.
Haha! That's hilarious!
One thing I know with absolute certainty. Your sticks will still be around 150 years from now. Everybody who owns one will treat them as the fine piece of art they are, as will their children and grandchildren. Not only are you a master craftsman but a keen and loving observer of nature and it's creatures.
Greetings from Germany
So talented... an so relaxing to watch too!
I agree. It is meditative.
that's the coolest thing I've ever seen on youtube
Man, simple living, doing what you love. This man has got to be at peace. If only we all could find it as he has.
Pearl is such a sweet little dog!
the attention to detail is really admirable, left no stone unturned
Best recommendation I’ve ever had. I was at peace watching a true masterclass. Thank you 🙏
The man with skill and patience, unbelievable good work!
real skill would be done by hand with a knife, sans power tools.
yeah. this not easy job
@@stevenwilliams2602 who cares. what he does with what he has is extra ordinary. dude ! huh !
@@stevenwilliams2602 And he could easily have done that as well but then it would take him way way more time to complete it and most likely more then he would like to spent on it. And it is the final masterpiece that is counted for, not how long or short time it took to make it.
@@stevenwilliams2602 really? why dont you make a video of carving something like this with only a knife? seems like its easy enough for you.
I absolutely love the way your eye smiles when you're looking at your walking stick and your dog
Those are the eyes of true dedication and love. Thank you for popping up on my recommended list :))
The amount of detail you put into your work is amazing, You are truly blessed.
Co za cudowny dar! Ile tu precyzji, cierpliwości,artyzmu, smaku itd. To budzi zachwyt !🙏❣️
I saw. That mouse get a better grip when you rotated that stick. What a fantastic job.
Hahaha! Thank you Dale!
Beautiful work.
DALE thebelldiver wonderful job.
Btw, his paintings are also stunning. Check out his website.
Laura Magill absolutely; they are fantastic indeed. He is; very very talented and comfortable doing it.
Everyone should push their skills to discover their hidden talents as well; to see how far they can be developed. I believe at least trying out any new skill makes your appreciation for great talent; even greater.
How you received dislikes is lunacy . Pure talent !
Or maybe women who are afraid of 🐭
Or maybe people that didnt read the title an saw an a mouse getting its eyes pokes out
It must be very sad to be the type of person who can't appreciate the talents of others.
The only dislikes are little choldren who know not patience
🐭 : "Help, I was hurt during the making of this."
🐭 : "By evil scientist in a laboratory."

Watching your carvings bring me back to when my dad use to do stuff like this.
The talent is off the scale to see this in your head and then make it come to life, amazing!
This is the seventh stick I've seen you carve and I'm just blown away again. Amazing.
To be honest I thought it was real

THIS is precisely one of the things the internet does best. Allowing a sublime insight into someone's stunning creativity from half way round the world that would not have been possible. Thank you Mike Stinnett (and Tim Berners-Lee!!)
Wow! That Sir is some beautiful workmanship!
The embodiment of patience!
Wow beautiful, God bless you my friend.
Beautiful workmanship ,and patience . buckets of patience. I watched this again and I still can't believe how OUTSTANDING this man's work is.Ok ,its the third time and it is still unbelievable
Jaw dropping.looks stunning .clearly heart n soul gone into it.
They are real animal.
You are the best!
Spectacular ........who are the people giving this a thumbs down?????????....why?
Liberals
I admire your courage for doing this instead of digital art. After all, your pieces are vulnerable and prone to accidents. At least we have this video as an eternal memory!
What patience, what talent, what attention to detail! What a cute dog! What an incredible man!! Love this
One of my most favourite staffs you've made. How you pull out the proportions of these animals with what seems like no reference other than what's in your mind stuns me, well done!
Thank you very much!
Wow, Awesome Talent Mike! I once read that archaeologist are able to tell what type of work people have done by the bones they leave behind. I have bent fingers from using my hands everyday which I'm sure you must have also. The one thing they can not tell is what exactly type of talent a person has with his hands. I'm sure your art will outlast all of us and if not God will remember you when you sit beside him! You Sir have a God given talent. Thank your Daughter and Wife for helping you to share this with us, it's truly amazing and Beautiful!
Thank you very much from all of us!
This was an incredible and wholesome experience to watch. Thanks for sharing with the world a slice of your life and talent.
Absolutely awe inspiring workmanship !
Man that is out of this world. It was so peaceful and relaxing watching and listening to the music. Thank You so much for sharing!!! And I do love Pearl.
Thank you, Steve!
l am in love for your job !! Can't stop watching !!! The Animals looks like they were alive !!!! I became a big fan of you and Pearl !!!
Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind words!
The way you worked the grain... amazing.
A true work of art , absolutely brilliant
Ahhhh, it's pure bliss watching your wonderful video's. The music is so relaxing, seeing the pretty birds and animals visiting your garden, watching you make your very unique style of sticks, catching up with Pearl, it's all worth waiting for. It was great to see you've added some of your tools, techniques and burning bits, very interesting. I think most of us watching these videos of yours feel so privileged, that such a kind and talented man is prepared to share them with us. Huge Thankyou 😊🐶🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💖
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, Jackie! Thank you for your kind words!
what a Masterpiece, awesome work very Original.
Now,that is art, just stunning piece of art.
That is some serious craftsmanship and artwork. Simply amazing.
I wonder if your dog ever tries to eat or gets spooked by one of your creations. They're really lifelike!
I know that I've said it dozens of times in the past but watching you work always makes my day Mike! You are a true artist of the Nth Degree. Also, just gotta love that little Pearl.................. :)
Thank you very much, Steve!
Just absolutely brilliant!
Incredible craftsmanship!
I wish I could be as relaxed, laid back and happy as this guy.
Holy crap....what a wonderful life that appears to be.
When you eat some laxatives at least your anal cavity is relaxed. HOLY *CRAP* what a wonderfull idea ! I'm going to do it as quickly as possible !
I've been following your videos for some time now, but this is my favorite I think. You've truly inspired me to attempt my own walking stick, however I'm simply a paramedic, not an artist. Your videos, especially this one with stating what tools you're using will absolutely help me. Thank you!
I'm really glad that I've inspired you to give it a try, Shane! I wish you all the best of luck with it! Thank you for your kind words!
I can't decide if I'm more jealous of your artistic skills or your beard.
Pretty crazy wen u can take a stick and turn it into something that neat. Serious artistic talent will always amaze me.
I appreciate you going into some of the finer details in this one, thanks!! 6000+ scales and incredible patience, not to mention a steady hand. One of these days you'll have to make your own stick, with lots of little Pearls running up/down it :D
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Haha! That would be a funny stick with a bunch of Pearls on it! :D
Well my friend you did fantastic work on that one the most amazing stick I have watched you do the detail of the mouse is stunning as is all you're work stay safe my friend and god bless you and your family look forward to the next one thank you Brian ps I see pearl is still on guard duty give her a hug for me 👍👍👍
Thank you very much, Brian! I really appreciate your kind words! Pearl takes her job very seriously, haha! God bless you, brother!
It's an honor to watch you work and do your magic.
Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful work. Both the stick, and the video.
amazing...and the patience you must have but then I think it's as much the process itself that brings you happiness and contentment as it is the end result. When I used to draw I felt this. I got burnt out though doing it every day for 4 years. LOL
Master at his best. good job
Absolutely stunning
The word masterpiece does not say nearly enough. I’m speechless!
I'm just in aww he's on another level of skill and artistry. Just wow. Incredible and amazing don't even begin to explain this work he can bring to life.
I really appreciate that, Bruce!
@@StinnettSticks and we really appreciate you showing us your craft. Salute to you Sir many blessings to both of you 🐶

Absolutely works of ART !!!!!
I like the sound the rattle makes at 7:11 , hope you all are doing well!
Isn't that funny? It almost sounds like a rattler, haha! We're all doing great! I hope you guys are doing good too!
It is a very satisfying video to watch, especially that snake scale burning part! Great work and those are really amaizing stady hands!
old man who is creative, makes something unique and seems original, I like to see it form a beautiful work.
You are the best at making wood carving
Wow!! Awesome perfection!!!😳😳😱😱💥💥👍
This man should get 1million dollars for every scale on that snake
@MySonNarkoman If i was older than 13 i would
@MySonNarkoman ok
@MySonNarkoman lmao why are you so salty? All he was saying is this man deserves more then he gets. That never implied Owl has money to spare himself.
@MySonNarkoman lmaooo u rly out here questioning a 13 yr old kid
@MySonNarkoman well that's one way to look at it
I know this is an older video and you have said these videos are a family endeavor. Just gotta say thank you. These are always my favorite videos. I love to draw and work with my hands but my talents are in medicine and care for people. When my mind is racing, I always watch these videos of you and Pearl's adventures to calm and bring focus. Thank you for your talents and videos
Thank you, Jimmy! I appreciate your kind words! and I'm glad you enjoy our videos!
This is perfection, a true artist.
Mike there`s no-one who takes as much time and trouble to get the fine details you do, whoever in the world gets that stick is the luckiest person, its magnificent!!! Thank you for explaining what and why you use the instruments of your art to us, it is very helpful to us lesser mortals. This video has rounded off my day perfectly, much appreciated my friend, all the best to you and your lovely family and little Pearl of course she is such a sweetie, regards from John in Berwick.
Thank you very much, John! Sorry for the long delay in answering. I got kind of behind. Haha! I always appreciate your kind comments. Hope you are having a great week, my friend!
Stinnett Sticks That's alright Mike I know you read all your comments and with all you have to do I appreciate the time you take for all of us, have a good week my friend, can't wait for your next endeavour cheers from John😊
You're probably the only one on the planet who knows how many hairs at the mouse. Amazing work! +
Haha! I have not yet counted all of the hairs on the mouse. Thank you for your comment, Alexander. It is good to hear from you!
I know being a vietnam vet and living i Temple tx that those walking sticks would sell like hot cakes
This is the most wholesome video on youtube lol
What a joy to watch such a performance of art. Thank you!
This is what the world really needs, true art, not the modernist garbage.
Such an amazing Channel, masterpiece crafts, a humble man with his loyal dog. Man, I would love to share a beer down in your yard and have a deep talk. Hope you are doing well.
I believe this is one of the best carvings I have ever seen, the attention to detail like the scales and mouse hairs is something else. Love the wee tubby jack russel too, shes a beauty.
absolutely fantastic.....Real art made the old fashioned way......by hand ..I LOVE IT !
