All music credits are at the end of the video.
We take the plunge into some odd Thomas facts and behind the scenes things such as pilots, models, and prototype things.
Things I was mistaken in:
The Sad Story Of Henry Misconception isn’t what I thought it was. Most people who didn’t take time to watch literally any other episode of the show think that Henry was left to die in the tunnel he was shut up in. This obviously isn’t true. So just swap the entry I did in the first layer with the one I did in the second. That’s where I should’ve talked about the pilot.
The cgi faces were sculpted because of merchandise reasons. I probably should’ve figured that one out lol. My bad.
The Fergus prop showed up at a train show! I’m glad to know the guy’s okay.
Thomas and Tugs in the same universe is connected by Big Mickey. I totally forgot about that, probably because Big Mickey dies in the original tugs. So what if... Thomas is some sort of prequel to Tugs..?
Eh probably not. But rip Big Mickey
In the TV aired version (either that or the VHS version I could be wrong) of munitions Big Mickey was said to have been salvaged from the accident so yes they would both line up in a timeline
also marklin exists, think it should have been on there
if shed 17 and project G-1 are cannon....avter the 50th sison this is true cannon the trains have intornal organs...and are bio fused....the series will end at here..
That was something a fan made it is the furthest thing from canon,
Maybe the old coaches are painted only on one side.
I don’t even care about the thomas series, nor did I as a kid...
But god, these iceberg videos are addicting.
Half the ice berg vids I watch I don’t care about the series as well but I’m pretty sure that’s everyone
same lol
lol same
Same
Yea, i watch most of them just for background noises,
and yea, they addicting too
And if it wasn't for that one elderly thomas face.
Timothy would never have existed..
Yeah, which in my opinion, as the face exists and in a book written by Christopher Awdry and illustrated by Ken Stott an Grey E2 appeared , which definitely was not Timothy, there is enough evidence for me to consider him an canon engine, just with an different story, for obvious reasons
@@dinosandtrains909 but the character wasn’t made by the Thomas producers was he
@@harryfoley2294 this is just my explanation for his livery, but it could all be connected or not, we might just not know everything about Timothy.
And he was named by us but the face is official
@@dinosandtrains909 the face is non canon

The person who stole the Toby Model from Drayton Manor probably saved the poor thing. Perhaps the model will turn up one day
I dont really know much but, what exactly is this manor?
@@muffet1536 Drayton manor is Basically a tourist trap that has models and the layout from the early seasons. But they really need to give the whole thing a dusting and a bit of love. I worked at The Cincinnati museum Center, home of the world's largest S gauge layout (1/64) and somehow we take better care of that setup than Drayton manor. Drayton neglects the models and that's really depressing.
@@kingofthepod5169 i see, that is horrible
@@kingofthepod5169 they're working on restoring them, hopefully they will look amazing
@@muffet1536 Its a local theme park in Tamworth, England, which had a Thomas land section built into it around 2009, and I never saw it as a tourist trap since I live in the same town and really like it there, since my family can just rarely afford trips to Legoland Windsor or Alton Towers (Which I presume you've heard of) and I've never been to a theme park on Disneyland tier
The scarf for Percy joke is the quote at the end of the episode out of context.
“Percy’s driver had taken away the trousers and given Percy a good rub down.”
I realize why pecy my favorite why percy

It's normies thinking Henry never got let out of the tunnel

Thomas's O-Face was never seen again after season 2...
*o-face sound effect*
Time to put that on the iceberg
The O-face of what I know was destroyed after season 1 but I'm not sure

A funny sound
You're right Thomas old face was never seen out there season 2
11:35 the fact that someone actually took their time to make that face just for a joke is impressive. I'm honestly curious to know where it's at now, if it hasn't been destroyed already.
If where lucky it's in the deepest darkest hole in the world aka the Mariana trench or as I call it
The gateway to heck
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It wouldn’t be as creepy if it actually had eyes
yet someone took that face mask and make it to an original character named Timothy.
Timothy may be himself with his backstory and demonic presence and such, but that face at the bottom of the iceberg is far more frightening. We never see what that was about,
The Misconception Of The Sad Story Of Henry Is That He Was Never Let Out
He Wasnt So There Is No Point Of It Being On Here
Ah I See Now, Thank You Jakey.
Actually, in Audry's original book, he was never let out. This was only changed because Audrey could not get his book, The Three Railway Engines, published unless he wrote in a happy ending.
But Henry was let out when he was ready to come out! Didn't you guys watch the US version of that episode? It was confirmed in Henry To The Rescue! where Sir Topham Hatt has let Henry out of the tunnel when he was ready to come out of the tunnel. because in the UK version of the previous episode at the end Sir Topham Hatt says that they would leave Henry in the tunnel for always and always and always but it was changed in the US version and he instead says that they would leave Henry in the tunnel until he was ready to come out, just watch the US version of the episode! What is going on with The Railway Series these days?

I know next to nothing about thomas, but seeing all the original models being run down and unpreserved is honestly really heart breaking.
It’s like watching your childhood being trashed.
Some of them the original models are now actually owned by thomas fans, thomastankmerch on twitter owns some of the original engines, rolling stock and stations i think
@@walkertang I need to keep tabs on that, because I would love to own some models myself.
There's a museum in Japan, Hara Railway or something like that, they also have some models from the show, they're in really good condition from what I've heard.

I absolutely agree with you on the Season 12 production images, it looks like they were ripped from hell with the low quality and almost pentagram looking face trackers.
Sounds fun for making a cheesy horror UA-cam Poop.
It looks like a creepy pasta
Genuinely didn't know thomas the tank engine was that deep.
I did. But the saddest part and darkest is Drayton Manor treats their models horribly. Thomas is in the dark parts of the Underworld. While the models in the Hara museum are preserved and are well taken care of.
I remember on the news a long time ago about kids chewing the wooden Thomas toys and getting lead poisoning.

The Hiro Victor and Kevin face masks were not for the show, they were sculpted for the sake of merchandise

Night Train, The Island Song, and Thomas' Anthem were also originally going to appear in TatMR, but were cut.
WHAT I would love to hear those songs (especially night train) in orchestrated form
The anthem could’ve been interesting seen as how it mentions several characters that weren’t in the movie
It was at least a good thing that Really Useful Engine was heard but the captions did make a few goofs on the DVD release, I took a look for myself and the goof fact was true!
The "look out for the train" thing was in the first few runs of the ntsc vhs in north America

Jesus that Drayton manor stuff is sad! Can ONE ASPECT of Thomas and friends go peacefully? The show got turned into generic kid show instead of something for every age. And now the MODELS are rotting away for entertainment? All of this meant so much to me in its prime but they ran the train until it fell apart instead of letting it be a fond memory in our minds.
Quite a few of the models have been repaired now.

As someone who lives relatively close to Drayton Manor and looked at the Thomas exhibit almost every time I've visited, I have to admit I was in disbelief to find out that the props were the REAL DEAL, and then shocked to find out that the staff weren't taking care of the props, Toby got stolen and Stepney vanished. Kind of explains why they put it all the way at the back of the zoo area, it feels like the owners just wanted to isolate and forget about it.
No mention of Ringo Starr on this?
*I’m depressed*

The reason why people think Tugs and Thomas are in the same universe is that there is a charactr called Big Mickey in Tugs who sank in a dock fire and was brought to Sodor as we see in the TV series

Fact 2) Big Mickey now have canon speaking role in the series!

Dude. This was the best iceberg video ive ever seen. The Music, The Atmosphere. Its too perfect. Well done man!
5:37 not the hero we asked for but the hero we deserved
I don't believe Hiro of the Rails was meant to be a model series special, though the face masks were sculpted to base faces off of for merchandise
He made some corrections in the pinned comment
2:17 he used to give me nightmares..
Molly's TOMY/TrackMaster face is actually based on the smaller face but is scaled up to fit the actual smokebox size for some odd reason.
Well at least we have the hara model railway museum with most of their models in good condition
As a kid, I would go so deep into this stuff. there are so many animations, dark themes, and all that stuff. It’s the scariest shit
Drinking game idea: watch Thomas and take a shot every time the narrator says “luckily, no one was hurt”
I said that in my head after finding out about a freight train derailing and they said no one was hurt in the article.
You’ll die of alcohol poisoning in seconds
Thank you for explaining all of this!! I had seen this image floating around for so long but only knew one or two of them. Definitely a pretty wild ride!
The things about Fergus and the Drayton props are wrong, we got to see Fergus at a model show from last year (it was some Gauge 1 exhibition I forgot what it was called) and it's not the theme park that's poorly looking after the props, it's the people who put them in or work on them, Sam Wilkenson, who resurfaced Fergus at the show, is responsible for the recent props going in and maybe all of them but I ain't sure
Well if the people in charge of the models are from the theme park, then it’s the theme park who’s responsible, isn’t it?

I was also kinda thinking TATMR was set while Edward was being repaired at some point but AFTER Old Iron due to the fact only Thomas and engines 1-7 were in it and not after Edward’s Exploit since other engines like Duck, Daisy, BoCo, Bill & Ben, and the Scottish Twins weren’t around. The Class 42s might not have been around during Old Iron in 1952 but who’s to say Diesel 10 couldn’t have been an early experiment when diesels were first being built in the early 1930s or even sometime in at least the early-mid 1920s?

I think Edward would be in the works from old iron since then you’d have to explain why bill Ben Duck and BoCo weren’t there.
This is a great video, I consider myself a all knowing Thomas guy but I learned some stuff I didn’t know about this little blue frick.
Great work!
The theory makes sense if you leave out Edward' Exploit and assume the film is right before Duck takes Charge.
Ironically enough you could still assume it takes place right after EE if it weren't for Duck being so prominent in it, cuz Boco and the Twins' absence can be handwaved by saying they were just chilling at the Clay Works/Quarry during the film.
i think that the edwards exploit idea is pretty accurate
16:51 In an SIF interview with Sam Barlow he explains that Hero Of The Rails was original going to be develop as a model series special, except it was going to look like series 12 with the CGI faces. It was change to full CGI because of the budget.
The “Look out for the train!” Was actually on a couple of copies of the Thomas Gets Tricked VHS when Thomas & The Trucks was playing. Other copies of the VHS don’t have it nor the DVD.
I'm so facinated by this genre of video like there's so much to unpack with all of these seemingly normal franchises. Also that metal claw train gave me nightmares as a kid I don't know how they thought that was a good idea
0:31
Hol up I wanna hear about the doobie brothers' secret involvement
16:04 *My brain on a daily basis*
Hearing "Forever Rachael" from Final Fantasy VI when you were talking about Drayton Manor took me off guard for a sec. I love listening to FFVIs music so hearing it in a Iceberg video about Thomas the Tank Engine froze my brain lol. Good music choice.
Seriously tho, why did they not use the old model of edward instead of making a new one?
The same reason they made new models for TATMR: The original TV models(S1-5) had been repaired and refurbished so many times that using them for the film cameras would simply expose the imperfections of the props from years of use. Plus they were made to be seen on a TV screen as opposed to the big screen.
Best example of why just using the TV sets and props isn’t suitable for Film is Star Trek: Generations. The Enterprise-D sets seen throughout are masked with dark lighting as they were made to fit the aspect ratio of television sets during the late 80’s to early 90’s and you can really notice it alongside the ill-fitting DS9 uniforms on certain actors.
the look out for the train one made me gigle
Whenever I see a nascar profile pic in a completely random comment section always makes me say hi

TATMR doesn't take place during S2. The arches needing strengthening, whereas a whole section needed to be rebuilt.

What About The Cancelled Season 21 Episodes
this video brought back memories i didn’t known i had
I’m guess the lost marketing video was just meant to say, in a strange way, that the Thomas brand is so powerful that it’ll survive no matter if even an apocalypse occurs, which is meant to further entice investors… somehow.
I heard that the Andrew Lloyd Webber adaptation wasn’t going to be a tv show but instead a musical, this would’ve been done by the same guy who gave us cats so take that as you will.
9:38 I think at first glance that would make sense until you realize Duck and Boco appeared in Edward’s exploit, two characters that weren’t in the movie, or in the show afterward in Boco’s case
It’s not really lost media but there’s also that clip of the Strasburg day out with Thomas locomotive with its original eyes melting
One other thing I’d add to this iceberg is a few deleted scenes like Terrence being the one pulling the lime wagon in Ghost Train/Percy’s Ghostly Trick, Gordon and having a bigger role in Haunted Henry as well as diesel supposedly having a role too, and a deleted scene with one of the Scottish twins from the “New” series episode where it’s basically tortoise and the hare with Edward and Spencer
Here's one for you: how and when did Toby's coach, Henrietta get a face
At 17:12, tasha stone was played by Laura bower if you check the cast in TATMR end credits. And also at 17:25, the unused TATMR song is actually just a music placeholder before composing the song , which is now "some things never leave you", you can check the leaked workprint because it has it. By the way "he loves and she loves was from fred astaire.
The TUGS characters were meant to make a cameo in TATMR
Look out for the train! Oh yeah!... WHY IT'S ON THE BOTTOM!? It's basically like the hand blooper
i was never really interested in thomas outside of the seasons with Ringo Starr, but this is interesting and urks my curiosity about the production of the early seasons
I grew up with Thomas and this is very intriguing for me it’s answering a lot of my questions but also giving me new ones
As soon as I saw this on my reconmmed I had to watch it because I never thought Thomas the train would have an iceberg. That whole Drayton manor thing makes me very sad because I grew up with this show and seeing the models get mistreated instead of being preserved really angers me, I'm glad some people were able to preserved some of the models but still I never heard about this whole thing until now. This video was really interesting and well done, I learned something new from this 😂
Wait Timothy’s face is real shhhhhh
Edit): in a ep called trouble with trees when Thomas is saveing James when Thomas goes backswords this drivers head moves by its self!
Now that’s Audrey’s ghost!
Also the Drayton manner engines were fixed!
No, the train was vibrating from movement, causing the lightweight figure to move
Ok
But the head moved but ok
Nice to know that Drayton manner fixed the engines
Thomas driver's head was snap by itself cuz some say season 5 without awdry. So awdry visited the filming
