Not saying that your earliest videos were not great, but can't believe the professionalism and quality you guys have achieved!!!! Kudos for jobs well done
You are so correct Tom. We look back at the early videos that we were proud of when we made them and now just cringe. We were BAD. LOL What we have, well more accurately what Gina has learned, has really made the product much slicker and more polished. She is amazing. Thanks.
We were so happy to share it with you and Terri, too! I don't think I will ever recover from that food. I am craving mole negro right now. I could eat that paste like peanut butter on a spoon! 😂 We are looking forward to the gastronomy in Puebla next, but the bar was set quite high in Oaxaca! ~Gina
Oh.. thank you for describing the MOLE... my last trip to Puebla I was lucky to help make Mole and you are SO correct about how many ingredients go into it... the process is very long because everything is sautéed or fried to enhance flavors... I found that part very interesting because it does change the flavor and consistency... after all the ingredients are prepared, they take it in a large bucket to a guy that has a machine that it goes into to create the paste.
It is an amazing process that results in a great product. So happy that we got the opportunity to experience it there. It truly is was a must see in our Mexican experience.
It really was an eye opening stay. There is a strong case to be made that Oaxaca is the center of Mexican culture. I know, I know, I will probably here about that statement, but I said a case could be made. It definitely is the gastronomical center of Mexico. We really enjoyed our time there.
I love the Mercados! So many choices... My cuñada always takes us to the same place in Atlixco where the vendors yell and try to persuade us to dine at their table, it's a game and funny! Ultimately the food is pretty much the same, they offer a family style meal with tortillas, veggies, meat of choice, salsas and more... as you are eating other vendors approach selling everything from chocolate to honey, peanuts and cheese to take home. Quite a noisy yet entertaining situation. This video reminded me a bit of that experience. I must commend you both for being so adventurous!! GRACIAS!
La Abuelita, La Abuelita, La Abuelita! Just a small recommendation on our part, Barbara. LOL Seriously, the food is sooooo good. You will enjoy the time there.
La Abuelita in Mercado 20 de Noviembre if you don't go anywhere else! Phenomenal food. You will not go hungry for want of good food there. Just about anywhere we went, the food was fantastic.
We did. It was a maze and we were just wandering around and fortunately we just meandered around with no real intent on an ending spot. The second time we did have a destination in mind and it was really a chore to find it Cindy.
Thanks for sharing the videos of the mercados. I just love the concept of these. Although, I'm sure I'd get lost and would end up just having to live there. 😅
Now Tom, you know if this had been planned, I would have had cerveza before and more afterwards. Hell, I was looking for a Coke as soon as I was done. LOL
So glad that you liked it Julie. We were very happy to experience Oaxaca and no, we didn't get any massages there. Enjoy it, and the one word of advice is to go to La Abuelita for a meal. It was fabulous. It is in Mercado 20 de Noviembre and it is easy to find as it is the one that is packed with people.
Spent alot of time there but my wife doesn't like Mercados and refused to go. Also one of them south of the square is sketchy at times. But I'm with you I'd love to eat there if I could

Once again you knocked it out of the park. What a wonderful experience.

You know I love all your posts. That’s said, I’ve been waiting for this one for sure! Gracias mi amigos👏🏻👍🏻✌🏻🤙🏻🙏
De nada mi amigo!
So much great food. I loved the little lady that would come to our door singing tamaaaales in the afternoons. Loved Oaxaca and the learning library.

@GringosRUs I think you are right. We loved hiking and riding bikes Thule.

I actually think that that is part of the allure of the mercados Diana. The spectacle of it all. It is fun to watch as well as participate in.
I will be there in 3 weeks so these recommendations are great!!

Can’t wait to go to Oaxaca in March for a wedding. We will be there for 9 days so we can enjoy as much food as possible lol. Great video.

The first Mercado that you went in I would have gotten lost in! So many fun places to shop and eat, glad that you enjoyed your meals.

The chapulin scene was funny haha
Thanks. The things that I won't do for the channel. LOL

😂 Yep! But you COULD live there, right? 😂 You can definitely get lost in the bigger ones, for sure! Thanks for watching. ~Gina
Mark if You are going to eat grasshoppers, at least always have a cerveza ready!!!! You haven't learned that yet? LOL
Now Tom, you know if this had been planned, I would have had cerveza before and more afterwards. Hell, I was looking for a Coke as soon as I was done. LOL
So glad that you guys did this video getting ready to go to Oaxaca in January. Did y’all get massage done there?

@@GringosRUs thanks for the tip, 💕💕
The first one I have to use google maps to figure my way out
We were actually doing that Dave and the problem was that the aisles are so close together that even Google maps missed some of them. LOL
In honor of this video I just broke out a little bit of mayordomo hot chocolate I have stashed away.
Thanks. It was a culinary experience like none other that we experienced in Mexico.
You Ate Zee Bugs ?!?!?!?
🫣.
😮😖🤮🤠✌️
No, I ate zee bug! Solo uno. It was fun to talk with the young lady.
Spent alot of time there but my wife doesn't like Mercados and refused to go. Also one of them south of the square is sketchy at times. But I'm with you I'd love to eat there if I could
Yeah, Benito Juarez is the one you are referring to I think. But, damn, that food is to die for. LOL
