It really is a pretty city. We got to see a lot of it from the concert venue last night. What an experience. We can see why people would strongly consider this city.
Hi Gina and Mark! That church!! Oh my gosh 🤯 I would’ve been disappointed also in the Mercado because one of the main reasons I like to go is for the abundance of fresh foods. I’m sure by now you have found some good ones to get your spices and foods. Bless you and the veterinarian for taking care of the kittens. i’m so happy you guys are enjoying Oaxaca and thank God they are getting some good rain. Finally very good Mark in making sure you are consistently using your Espanol even when talking to your audience here on UA-cam. It reminds me I need to do this more and get back to my lessons m. Gina you’re probably shy like I am in knowing the words, but I feel not very confident in speaking them because I’m afraid they might come out wrong. lol 😆 but honestly, you know they appreciate us trying. Yes it will be us one day. We will just be speaking fluently. Enjoy your time and I’m looking forward to more videos on Oaxaca.
Thanks Max. Yeah, we are hoping to hit the better mercados tomorrow. The neighborhood one that is only a few blocks away is good however. The Spanish just now sort of flows out now. Not fluent or even close, but it now just pops into my head a lot faster. I am of the belief that you just let it fly and laugh at the mistakes. You know they are going to occur, but use it or lose it. LOL
We appreciate the way that they have made us feel so welcome. The people here have been so gracious and warm everywhere that we have been. The people to the north really could learn a lot from these wonderful people here in Mexico. Thanks for watching.
What a great video, wow, how was the concert? The food you had is called “comida corrida” and it’s usually for lower income people, but it’s very good. Enjoy your time in Oaxaca.
Thank you Francisco. It definitely was good and we will be going back again, for sure. The concert was phenomenal. We had a great time and the band was amazing. So glad that we got to experience them.
Thank you Lee. We will check that out. Fortunately Gina does not carry a purse and when we are in places that are packed with people, we try to carry as little as possible.
I’m surprised you haven’t been to one of these places yet. They exist all over Mexico, called Cocina Econimicas. I’ve never seen one with that many protein options. They are usually around 70-80 pesos person.
We have seen then in mercados before Andy, but we were always there to shop. Plus most of the time they are busy, a sign that the food is good, and we hadn't learned to slow down and set the internal clocks to Mexican time. It takes time and you are right, you can't beat the prices.
@@GringosRUs I don't know if they are common in mercados or not. The ones I've seen are more stand alone. I love that you found the water refill place too! I've been using those for awhile now. They are significantly cheaper than exchanging at OXXO.
@@andymccarthy7617 For me Andy, it is more about what is closest to the house so that I don't have to carry that garafon for any further than I have to. LOL It does save a few pesos and better yet, it employs locals and we love to watch them go through the process.
Hola que tal soy Mexicano de California, In Mexico there is a saying Que soy hijo de Chota? witch means am I the son of a Cop? when someone doesn't say hi to you
We do try to speak to everyone. It is such a welcome change from the US. The people here are what makes this such a magical country and we are so glad to call it home now.
You missed Mercado 20 de Noviembre, which is a large, wonderful food market right across the street from Mercado Benito Juarez. It's not a dangerous market, (I assume your host is talking about Central de Abastos, which can be a little dangerous). You *have to* visit 20 de Noviembre. You won't be disappointed, I absolutely promise you. There are groceries galore, and phenomenal food stalls offering inexpensive and delicious foods. Also, Cocina Economicas are all over México. There's usually a "menu del dia" posted outside, and they're invariably delicious, very inexpensive home cooking, usually 2 or 3 courses, often including a juice and/or coffee. 20 de Noviembre! Don't miss it! Thanks for looking out for the fuzzy babes! ❤
Thanks Jodi. We are planning on hitting some of the other mercados tomorrow. No rain for a change and we are going to take advantage of it. Thanks for the heads up on Central de Abastos.
tomorrow is when we are going to that mercado and a few others. Taking advantage of the lack of rain. Hopefully we are pretty much done with the rainy season.
Guys…..why are you ordering pizza 🍕 and KFC 🍗 delivered to your place ……COME ON…you are in MEXICO……..😂 😂 you are very gringos.😂 but I understand……your miss your culture-and processed food. Funny guys…..
You know Gloria, every once in awhile, we need a little fix from home. Besides, pizza or fried chicken and football are such a good pairing. Thanks for watching.
The best food in México is the one mothers and fathers make at home
True in any country. Homemade from family recipes can't be beat. Thanks Winston.
What a coincidence I also went to the Caifanes concert I hope you enjoyed it as much or more than I did
We loved it. It was an interesting experience and the music was phenomenal.
haha, Gina, I love your shirt - true story! 😻😻
Thanks for taking us through Oaxaca with you! I look forward to learning more about the city with you.
We are looking forward to getting out and sharing more with all of you. That shirt is a true statement. LOL
We love Oaxaca, is a city high up on our list.
It really is a pretty city. We got to see a lot of it from the concert venue last night. What an experience. We can see why people would strongly consider this city.
It sounds like you are enjoying Oaxaca so far (except for the rain), that's wonderful! I hope that you enjoy the concert!
We are enjoying Oaxaca Cindy. The concert was great. The band was amazing and it was a totally different experience.
Sounds awesome 🎉❤enjoy
It was and we did. Thanks!

@@GringosRUs Well said!
appreciate you for visiting my parents country!

Hola !! Gina and mark
Hola Elsa, gracias por ver!
Mercado 20 de noviembres es por los gringos. Mercado la Merced es por los Oaxaqueños, Abastos es un lugar increíble 😮.
Gracias para la explique Denis!
Lila Downs, check if she is in town!
Who is she Wilfredo?
Go to the Sunday market in Tlacolula if you want a large, authentic market. Just watch you bag (I wear mine in front of me).
Thank you Lee. We will check that out. Fortunately Gina does not carry a purse and when we are in places that are packed with people, we try to carry as little as possible.
Es comida corrida por un restaurante y comida económica por la casa.
Gracias Denis!

Go to Montealvan and La Casa del Mezcal😂
Both are on the list Wilfredo. We have friends coming down at the end of the month and we are planning on doing those with them.

I love the way you gracefully answered that. I am Mexican born and USA Naturalized. I can dig it! @@GringosRUs
Great point as a natural born Mexican I fully understand your comment. But their answer is honest...right? Football? 🏈 Right?😊 lol
Two liters of kittens.. A "Cat House" now??? Okay, enough sarcasm from me.. Cheers, Mate.
LOL, nowhere near that much fun Jack. LOL
