I had a 1984 Renault 5 Le Car built for European market basically the same model, with different headlines and bumpers. Bought it in 1995. It had Alpine wheels and it drove amazingly smooth: indeed it was a French car. After 5 years of daily use rust ate also fundamental parts and repair would take way too much time and money and I decided to give up our little friend, sadly enough. Fortunately my girl and I could drive with Le Car to the townhall on the day we got married in May 2000. That was R5's last milestone. Lovely car, and yes, that same girl and I are still happy together, even without Le Car. I hope you'll treat yours well.
I had a 80 Renault 5 which was the same as the Le Car. Loved it to bits. Drove amazing. The spare tire lives in the engine compartment. That is what you were pointing at; the place where to store it.
O-M-GOSH! You're killin' me! HAHAHA! I used to work at a bagel shop about 40 yrs ago. Our delivery vehicle was a LeCar. I drove it a couple of times when the delivery kid was out. Have to say, it was a fun little car. hahaha! You'll have fun with it I'm sure. Good luck, Brother!
My dad had one of these when i was a little kid ! It was white with red LeCar on the side ! My dad was 6"8 also , so he looked very clownish in it, but he loved it until my older brother wrecked it.
So what's the update? Carburator is a Weber 32 DIR. Hole in the right wheel passage is the opening for the window washer fluid cannister. Filter below the main air filter container is another air filter connected to the air pump and used air injection in the exhaust manifold (air guard). New floor panels to be welded on the chassis can be found on french classic car sites. 123000 miles on the engine is not a challenge for this car.
Got her running and driving then caught it on fire and crashed it into a mailbox… sold it for $200 and a pack of McNuggets to two guys that tow strapped it an hour down the highway then later ditched it on the side of the road and the owner before me got a fine for an abandoned vehicle
