To be honest, those RM85’s are really the best considering that the average adult can still get on them and still go extremely fast, and the younger kids can hop on and have a blast as well and go even faster depending on the power to weight ratio.
The RM is the only one to use an exhaust power valve which means it should have the longest power curve and torque which means less clutching to get the power.
I thought the KX also had a power valve. But yeah, I really wanted a RM 85/ 100 for my own 6 foot tall behind to play with, but it seems like the other three are more popular or sold more often. I think I'm about to get a KX 100. Should I wait for a RM 100 to pop up instead? Any suggestions?
@@420PeterGriffin If the new 125 is a mini bike I will 100% get one, but I already have 2 full size bikes that I really like ('18 KTM 300 xcw and '04 450 exc, both w/ MC plates) The KX 112 is awesome, it's what led me down this path. They were just over $4K new at my local Kawi dealer when they first came out, now they're nearly $6K according to the website which is just too much for a play bike and not much cheaper used when they do pop up.
I’ve watched this video several times, love it! Bought my 13 year old daughter a KX65 to put the fear of two stroke into her. No, she fell in love😂😂😂 Found a 2023 KX85 for a killer deal, she thinks an older RM85 is her future…can’t wait to see her 😊😊😊
Man wish I was there because right now we are looking for a new bike and im thinking of a big bored yz85 and always wanted to ride one and see how it feels.
Just found this. Grear job with lap times and rankings. Last year, we ran an 08 kx85 for local and ama racing. The old kx against the 2022s killed it and he loves it.
Shame you didn’t have a 2007 cr 85 as it would have wiped the floor with all of them. And even better still, I assume you left the KTM SX 85 out of it as it’s far better than those three bikes. Almost like a shootout for the 3 runner-up 85’s 😂 The CR/KTM’s are far better bikes than the RM, YZ and KX in every way
Interesting comment. If you took a second to look up our channel you would see that we have Husky 85's, GasGas 85's and GasGas 105s also featured. Keep in mind we are not a magazine and none of these bikes were free. I had to buy all of them. If I had free access to every bike they would of been included. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
@@3SeasRecreation but I’m not watching the other videos am I? I’m watching this one. I understand you aren’t a sponsored with bikes ride channel. Again, no mention of SX or CR who also made bikes in the era these were the base for. Never mentioned gas gas or husky did i? (Even though they are a similar platform to the newer KTM’s, especially gas gas). Bit of an over-emotional, defensive reply mate to a bit of a tongue in cheek comment. I do appreciate the video and watching it clearly supports you. So chill out a bit fella.
@@apocx4290 you can have THE BEST bike, if you dont know how to ride it properly it wont matter much in the end. nearly everyone in my neck of the woods were laughing at me for choosing 125/250 over 300/450, but in the end i've managed to stay with them all the time despite having "inferior bike". Yea there not much between then speed different there petty much there the same but the yz a bit faster but not by much the kx is a great first race bike but it really it the rider skills to get the higher speed so it doesn’t really matter it’s all about the the rider
This was extremely helpful because I’ve been trying to figure out between the three which to get and braxxton is the same height as me so that was extremely helpful height wise. Thank you!!!

Thanks for checking out our channel! Yep these were all small wheel models. Some of them offer a big wheel model or you can buy the wheels/ swing arms needed.
I’m 5’5. 5’6 with boots on. I’ve literally never had ridden MX but I really want to start. I don’t want to spend over 6 grand. Which one would you recommend?
Good Morning! Thanks for watching our video! I would recommend starting with a 4-stroke air cooled bike to get comfortable with a clutch and bike controls. The good news is you wont spent anywhere near 6k on a good trail bike. Once you have that bike mastered I would look for something used. I think by watching this video you can see you won't go wrong with any of these options. They are all awesome bikes and each rider could turn just as good of a lap time on any of them. Thanks, Jared.
@@3SeasRecreation Just my opinion, you're probably big enough to ride a 125 or 250F. I went straight from a Chinese 150 trail bike to a KX450, now I'm thinking about building a CR500AF. You'll outgrow an 85 in a year and need a new one, it's just a waste to get anything smaller than a 125.
Good Morning, I believe the cheapest new is the RM 85. I guess it would depend on your local dealer and what deals they are willing to make! Thanks, Jared
I agree, if you are looking to get into a 2-stroke bike I would recommend a 125 2-stroke. If it is your first bike an 85cc would work for a year but it wouldn't take long to outgrow it once you got the feel for riding. Thanks for watching!

I guess the newer kx 85s do have a valve. Older ones didnt. For you bigger is better. You will have more fun on 100cc+

Quick pull on the rear brake lever and done. also, handlebars can be adjusted by losening the triple clamps.
Would you recommend a 2012 yz85 or a 2017 kx85 both are 2k, mostly looking for reliability, and a good starter 2 stroke
Hmm... It seems like I would go with the 2017 as it is 5 years newer. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Yo! I kinda fell in love with the YZ85 and RM85, are them too small for me, a 15y with 170cm (5’8)?
Good video. Thought I’d let you know your mic is only working on one side. Watching video at work and only coming through one headphone. Haha👍🏼👍🏼
