Thanks for showing the sun damage! I have this on some of my queen. I thought I was having some sort of fungal issue but this makes sense now since it does get some direct sun
Fern this is perfect timing, I'm getting my first hoya today! I was researching propagating with superthrive and this popped up, I would have watched it today anyway, I just got here sooner. I have 3 govee and I love them, so I won't be entering giveaway. Thank you for all the great info. Enjoy your week!
Thank you so much for this video. I am being known as a plant lady and I was just gifted a hoya. They have always intrigued me but I am a bit scared because I have heard that they are difficult to care for. Your video has included a lot of really practical tips for me to monitor this new plant and keep it thriving in my home! Also, I might go out and buy a couple of those Govee hygrometers, they're not only great for plant people but also for our other hobbies like cheese making!
Thank you for the Govee. I now have two. One for the greenhouse and the other monitors the house because I rent it out in the summer and some people abuse the air conditioning. ❤
I just started building my hoya collection and this video was very helpful! I'd love to see a care guide video for ficus elastica tineke and variegated string of hearts
I’m revisiting this video because I just got my first Hoya!! I know I shouldn’t be buying plant in the winter but it was a sale and I couldn’t resist. I just got my first cutting of a Hoya Kerrii and I’m excited!!!
You and Harli G peeked my curiosity of hoya and I had to get one. Went with the hoya carnosa crimson queen, I broke off 2 of the new leaves when I got it. It is getting in two new ones that are so gorgeous 😍
Hi! Thanks for the Hoya tips. I’m about to receive a few and they will be my first so I will probably need the help. I’ve love to know more about String of Hearts and Strings of Pearls.
I have 3 hoyas, working on getting possibly one more before it gets too cold! My favorite out of my 3 is the obovata. I just love him so much and the circle leaves are just the cutest. I am gonna try that orchid miracle grow stuff! Thanks for the vid :)
I know that this is years old, but this makeup trend looks really good on you. I'm already missing the eyebrows on everyone and myself. 😂 I will keep the glossier look forever!
Another great video and it’s right on time! I ordered a hoya obovata that was shipped to me today 🎉. It’s my first hoya and I’m so excited!!! Can’t wait for the next video, Fern!! 💚
Great video! Thank you! I recently propagated a hoya by placing thr end of a leaf into water for an experiment. It rooted. Question. Will that leaf grow into a plant or will it stay a leaf with roots? Thanks.
Thank you great video. I’m a new Hoya mom. I only have have one. I got the princess, she’s small but I like to start smaller with plants I’m not fimilar with, lol
I’m very excited to finally see a tiny bit of new growth on my one leafed Caudata Sumatra, it’s my second try with this one , I heard you can root those long vines in water , I’m trying an experiment with a Verricosum leafe wo a node , I used honey 🍯 for rooting hormone and bagged in spag , have no idea 🤷♀️ if this will work Tfs 🧚♀️
Love this video Fern! I have a small collection of Hoyas and most of them are small cuttings. I need to get that Orchid fertilizer, I have heard other plant tubers talk about it. Thanks so much for sharing! 🌱💚
How often do you spray them with the orchid mist?? And do you continue throughout the winter?? So much love from Ontario you quickly became my favourite plant-tuber
Thank you sooo much! I spray them every 1-2 weeks. I spray them all year long, yes. But probably less frequently in the winter... maybe every few weeks.
Love this! Very useful tips!!! Thanks Fern 💕 i have a question though, what water do you use for your water propagations? I tried propagating my hoya bella in water (i used tap water) but it died 😢
I see mealy bug occasionally on my hoyas. It's normally just one, and I take it off right away. I have never had any infestation so far. Knocking on wood. It seems like mealies absolutely love Hoya nectar! I wonder where they come from?
Just a quick question on fertilization-have you tried using general hydroponics (that you use on your plants in leca) with your plants in soil? I just found out that you can do that and I’ve heard great things about it. I would love to see you do an update on using general hydroponics in your plants in leca like your Thai constellation. I know you touched on it in your leca update, but i would love to know your thoughts on GH. 🌱💕
@@wildfern I just purchased it the other day and read the back; then I went on the website and found out you could use it with soil too. My mind was blown a little bit lol. Thank you!! 🌱💕
Can I put my hoyas in my south facing bedroom window? It doesn't get direct light all day. But i was thinking of putting white paper on the window so that it has some type of filter. Good idea??
I’m on my second Hoya Australis and can’t seem to keep it alive :( I repotted to terra cotta with a well draining mix and have given it a pole to climb. It’s in a bright window and the bottoms leave get yellow and fall off 😩 any idea what I could be doing wrong?
My Australis is thirstier than my carnosas/pubicalyx etc. The leaves are thinner and less succulent, so holds less water in the leaves. I also find it does not respond well to drying out as much, ie for the Australis I don't wait until the mature leaves feel soft as that takes it too far into dry and it takes a long time to recover from that, I check the new-ish leaves instead. Mine is in terracotta too, but I'm going to repot it into a nursery+cover pot as I think that will help a little too.
I love hoya but sadly I'm only into the more expensive ones because the non plain jane ones are pricer 😂😂 I feel like next spring is when I'll be getting into my hoya buying. Right now I only have pub. , Crimson princess, crimson queen, hindu, burtonia & my favorite polynerra. ( I know I spelled all that wrong) it just sucks how expensive they are for how tiny the cuttings can be 😂 this year all my money went to airoids. Next year, Hoyaaaaa
my pup knocked my crimson queen down the day I got it and it’s leaves have never looked the same :( it’s been a month and a half and she’s still done nothing, I hope i didn’t damage her too bad. I have a feeling she’ll heal after I stop being so stressed out about the election and putting off bad vibes
Hello Fern, I've been using the orchid food on my 2 hoya and they are under grow lights. My Hoya Pubicalyx splash I have had about 10 yrs i guess and it has never bloomed yet. I don't know if my Hindu Rope will bloom. Btw what do we think about those fertilizer sticks?
