    This video wasn't dumb! I really like watching people just mess around with their plants, even if I'm familiar with the techniques. It's relaxing to have plant videos in the background while I work during the day.

    I cut a Hoya leaf from my mother's plant and put it in soil 11 or 12 years ago. For a year nothing happened, I just had a leaf in soil. I kept watering it since it didn't die (also, I had no idea what I was doing). It is now a big Hoya draped around the window frame. It got full and bushy entirely on it's own, I never cut it or did anything to it aside from repotting every few years and giving it support for the strands to climb on. It flowers regularly and generously. So if you give it enough time it will take care of things on its own, ha, ha. Love my Hoya. I recently cut a leaf off in hopes of propagating another plant.

    No such thing as dumb when it comes to propping, like how there is no such thing as a stupid question. There are SO many ways to go about propagating and it`s always neat to see what works for some and what works for others. And hey, I`ve never used sphag and probably never will, (I`m a vermiculite stan,) it`s just nice to see plant people planting!

    I live in Costa Rica, and the only way I found a Scindapsus rictus was a huge single vine, with I've propagated into many plants in 3 pots, quite a fun project if you ask me :D

    Perfect timing! I have one single krinkle 8 cutting that I rooted that finally started leaf growth and I've been wondering how I can make more than a single vine once it gets bigger. I actually bought myself a hoya Chelsea with the intentions of combining it with the crinkle and making it a thicker plant, I never would have thought of doing this though. It's a lot thriftier of a way to make a bigger plant for sure!

  • @MrOkay78
    @MrOkay78 3 роки тому

    You can use vermiculite instead of sphagnum, it's a lot better and cheaper, and plants root in vermiculite really fast. Make sure to cover your container up with something to create a hot house. I got zz raven leaf and stem cuttings, put them into a plastic container with noting but vermiculite, watered it through, stuck the leafs and the stem in there and sealed it up. They all rooted within a month.

    Thanks Ashley for this video! I love propagation! Propagating Hoya's kind of intimidates me. Now, I'm going to take some cuttings and replay this video 100+ times! Lol

    I have recently fallen in love with Hoyas. This video was great because I have several I would like to propagate and this seems like a really simple effective way to do that! Thanks so much and Congratulations 🎉🎈

    It’s been a few months of having a prop box and I’m finally seeing growth. My Hoya krimson queen does not want to root in there. Slowly but surely though! Congrats on the new babe! ❤️
