Without a Whisper is in my opinion THE gateway track for this entire genre. Something I can show my non metalhead buddies and they will still vibe to. Something that I could hear on daytime radio. How many hits did they want on this album 😂 These guys are too good. It's unfair on everyone else! Iconic album. Mark my words
The reason that Emberglow is so pleasing to the ear is partially because it's in a major key (E major). It's so refreshing to hear an uplifting sound that is still heavy.
Someone needs to put some RESPECT ON KEATONS NAME because the riffs on this record are so out of this world and insane also Marcus just entered into the god tier vocalist list for me now after this. Been listening to these guys for 7 years now and this is without a doubt their greatest work yet so happy for these guys because I think this is going to be what puts them over the top now and they get the recognition they damn well deserve. Congrats boys can’t wait to see you guys headlining a massive ticket here soon in Cleveland!

This mix on this album is by far my favorite of their discography so far. So tight and bright, but still sounding MASSIVE and ambient. Wonderful work by the IA guys

Absolutely agree with the title. It's still early, but every other album has a lot of work to do to top this amazing work. Think Elysium might still be my fave but the non-singles are so~ good. Saw the boys live on the ERRA (also Silent Planet, so GOATed tour line-up) tour recently and Marcus is incredible live (as is the rest of the band, ofc) - Immolation is wild live. These guys have been killing it for years. Recently re-listened to Stillworld before seeing them live and it still goes so hard. Hope this album can push them into the upper echelons of heavy music fame, they deserve it.

Agreed, AOTY for me as well. I typically have the mindset of “the heavier the better”, so I was not expecting to feel the amount of emotions I did listening to it. Emberglow chorus hit me like a ton of bricks. Great review , keep up the great work

As beautiful as the album is, it stands out as an absolute beat down to me. There are so many riffs in this that remind me why I love guitar, drums, and heavy music in general.
Overall an amazing album. I wasn't happy with the fact that they changed the mix of Shade Astray cause I liked the old one but I guess they had to so it would fit the album mix. Similar to what others have said - you kind of got me into this band as I had struggled with them for years being very on the fence about them and then this album along with your enthusiasm for this band has finally tipped the scales and I now enjoy them proudly. Invent Animate really exploding with this album! Well deserved.
Btw, I would love to see a video on creation behind this masterpiece similar to "greyview:in retrospect". I have been so addicted to this band, yet I don't mind such a type of addiction 😂😊

I will confess... I was not sold on Greyview... but with Heavener Invent Animate is now up there with Currents (my favourite band) for me 👌 Edit: after listening to Greyview a again I have changed my mind. Greyview has grown on me... it is an awesome album!
Really like this album, after finding them with greyview, and enjoying some really different mixing of soft and heavy, I think the kept those elements and went heavier. Gotta dive into the lyrics as well. Great 8.5/10 for me, fav of the year so far
I was almost 100% sure Sleep Token would own AOTY with no one coming close, this however is giving me second thoughts. My jaw dropped hearing False Meridian for the first time.
I love the album but it really bums me out they changed the drum part in the second half of the chorus of shade astray. its at 6:29 if you listen to the part at 1:10 from the single version theres snare hits that i realllllllly liked and in the new version they're gone =(

For me as a non-musician its unbelieveable that musicians can create such a piece of music, piece of art. Definately one of my fav 3 albums of the last decade (with AOGHAU and ERRA) and AOTY.
They bodied this. I could always tell since I heard Everchanger many years ago this band had tremendous potential. The progress and growth we've seen in their sound are unreal. They are one of the few newer bands in metal I keep up with. Really enjoyed the record. Labyrinthine is my favvorite track.
And just think we have the new Currents album in May. I don't think my heart can take it 😭 favorite tracks from Heavener are definitely Labyrinthine, False Meridian, and Emberglow (whole album is incredible though of course)

What an improvement from Greyview, which was already a great album.
I loved Greyview, but this is a serious step up from it. Definitely my favorite Invent Animate album

I’m eagerly awaiting Take me back to Eden but god damn did I have tunnel vision. This album is nothing short of an absolute masterpiece.. I genuinely think this won’t be beaten. AOTY.
It’s going to be sooooo close between the two. I’m also massively excited for the rest of Sleep Token. Great year for music so far!
For me as a non-musician its unbelieveable that musicians can create such a piece of music, piece of art. Definately one of my fav 3 albums of the last decade (with AOGHAU and ERRA) and AOTY.

They bodied this. I could always tell since I heard Everchanger many years ago this band had tremendous potential. The progress and growth we've seen in their sound are unreal. They are one of the few newer bands in metal I keep up with. Really enjoyed the record. Labyrinthine is my favvorite track.
And just think we have the new Currents album in May. I don't think my heart can take it 😭 favorite tracks from Heavener are definitely Labyrinthine, False Meridian, and Emberglow (whole album is incredible though of course)

How have I missed out on these guys. I’m a huge Dayseeker fan, this is like a heavier Dayseeker. Great cleans and some heavy riffs. My minds blown.
Purity Weeps is my favorite off this album too!!! I’ve been cycling this album with TMBTE and the latest Currents album
Ironically Reverie is my favourite track, really highlights the fantastic vocals.

this band has truly evolved, this album is amazing and by far the AOTY so far, when they hit those Vildhjarta-esque bends in the beginning of False Meridian i knew this was going to be special and it seemed to only get better as the album went on at least for a guitar nerd like me Keaton was the MVP but my god were the vocals next level, so many GREAT CHORUSES plus the melodies on Emberglow are so beautiful and ethereal i cant even put it into words. never really could get into these guys but saw your reaction to the sun sleeps EP and thought damn their next album is going to be something to look forward to and they didnt disappoint as im now a huge fan, cheers!
