Thank you so much. I'm going to hire someone to do this and you helped explain it so much better than my mechanic. I get an idea where to buy and what to buy. I hope the person doesn't do a wack job on my car. You're very thorough and precise. 👍
Had a very similar issue. 2:45 that is exactly where my problem was: the top right cable was melted. If anyone has issues removing the plastic cover of the steering wheel „hub“, it just divides into top and bottom and you need a bit of force.
Thank you because somebody forgot to put it in a certain video. Not that I couldnt figure it out its just a pet peeve of mine. For gods sake if your going to make a video show everything. And at least know what your doing 1st. I dont want to figure it out with you I want to know how to do it. If I wanted to figure it out I would be outside in the car. If Im figuring it out with you at least send me some pizza for helping
Thank you so much for the great video I have a question, so i was helping my brother in-law fix his 92 civic EX, I was diagnosing why his left low beam wasn’t working but his passenger side was . Anyways I went to grab my flash light out of my tool box and he plugged in the multifunction switch which the car running, the car died out and now it cranks and doesn’t start can anyone point me in the right direction?? It was fine until this accident!
i have same issue, but when i try to start switch with screwdriver, no issues, only issues with lock cyl where i have to find that sweet spot like you showed. that pin doesnt look broken on mine. maybe i just need to replace the lock cyl? idk
Got a 96 ex manual dude before me has leads off the power and ground to the ignition switch so now I’m stuck trying to figure it out about to go check the fuse now it’s doing the beeping and on 2nd /on mode nothing lights up and the beeping is still the same you try to start and nothing just beeping no lights still
When the car dies trying to start it. Did the fuel pump reprime or any relays click after you stop cranking? Any noises when you turned the key to off after failed starting attempt?
It would just turn on and stall, only noise you could hear was when I slowly turned the key at that one little part all the lights on the dash came on and you could hear the fuel pump but as soon as you turned the key a little more forward all lights in the dash and fuel pump would go out.
Car does what yours does. I did what u did with the ignition switch after taking off the 2 Philip screws & it works fine that way all the dash lights come on & car starts & stays on until I put it all back on & start it with the key in the ignition lock cylinder no lights come on & it starts & it stalls out
Is this hatch? I have a 1993 Honda hatch cx I bought me one from the eg sedan and there’s two wires connected to the ignition key and I have only have the one wires that black square goes to the ignition
I think im having the same.problem i replaced the fuel pump thinking that was the problem. But why wouldn't the lights come on the dash? So now im guessing it's ign related like yours. 93 eg si
Well for mine, the lights didn't come on in the dash because the white switch thingy was faulty, the contacts inside the switch were not engaging, so when I put it in the start the switch still registered it as in the off position
$143.00 for my 95 civic ex currently on amazon. The link is in the description, but its the complete assembly. Just make sure its the right one for your car before buying one.
Thanks for actually putting the issue and the solution. Most videos miss what the car was doing in the beginning

Update pulled ignitions 40A fuse under hood it’s bad it blew
I tried doing this on my 94 civic with an automatic but it has two extra wires that are in very awkward spots
Great video! you helped me out a ton.
Thank you, glad it helped you out

Yep seems like the same issue as mine, but could possibly be the other end of the switch
Why your ignition switch missing some wires
Is this hatch? I have a 1993 Honda hatch cx I bought me one from the eg sedan and there’s two wires connected to the ignition key and I have only have the one wires that black square goes to the ignition
Mine is a Sedan 4 door

Yup ign switch was the problem my cars good now thanks
great video. step by step!
The two wires goes to the ignition I don’t have them to connect them it’s just have that one black plastic goes to the ignition
What did you end up doing I’m in that exact position right now
That's the exact problem I'm having with my 91 civic
Hey least im not the only one
That's basically hot wiring :O
