I picked up one of these refurbished and it's been my daily driver. Still a fantastic machine in 2022 and hopefully I can get a few more years out of it.
would you recommend the 7530?
just got the 7500HQ 2.5-3.5 with the Nvidia quadro 2mb Vram
@@Sachitananda And how does it work?
It's a nice laptop, I don't game on it but it is capable of playing Doom Eternal
Good things about these is that they tend to be cheaper than used gaming laptops plus they have great color accurate screens and INSANE UPGRADABILITY. Plan on getting the 7550
My version of this 7510 is maxxed at 64GB ram and a Samsung 2TB NVME and 4TB SATA SSD and WIFI 6E with Dell 240V adapater. I can run EVERY game
I scored one of these a few months ago with 32gb ram. it does a great job of playing modern games. Considering I paid 140$ for it. Doom Eternal 1080p medium at a solid 60fps is pretty good. I think were you went wrong trying to game is the drivers. I have had zero issues with the most recent production drivers for the quadro m2000m
$140... wowzers!! That is an amazing Steal of a Deal!
Craigslist man, if you are willing to risk a stabbing there are still deals to be found
@@Chaotecsix nice score, just paid a littlea bove $300 for one of these, slightly higher model
I have an old M4400, which should be totally obsolete, but it’s so nice and it runs Windows, Linux, anything you can throw at it. Precisions are built like tanks.
Have a Dell precision m6500. 1st generation of i7. 920xm . 32 gb of RAM 3 SSD + 1 HDD . Draw back is Sata 3 not Sata 6. SO I cannot take fully advantage of the SSD Speed. I get only 350 MB read/write rather than 550 MB Read/write. With RAID 0 I get 600. MB R/W so no banana. Overall is still solid considering a laptop from 2010. Windows start becoming a bit sluggish and I 've installed Ubuntu 22.04 and man is flying.
@@VaruStanca I run PC Linux OS, a distribution that was originally based on Mandrake and Mandriva. It's forked off on its own and I've been using it for years.
Running on this M4400, its as responsive as my company-provided HP Elitebook for all the productivity, Web browsing, light graphics, etc. Not a gaming laptop, but otherwise just fine for m.e
@@VaruStanca Ditto for me with Precision M4800. love it so much I have two, one is a sweet UHD
I have the M4800 UHD and love all the connections and res!
You can go even crazier with desktop AM4 chips in some Clevo laptops, too! Those ones are truly bonkers, but really rare too.
I've never even heard of a AM4 chip. is that AMD?
@@MikeDancy Yes, it's a desktop AMD socket. You're strangely outta the loop.
Happy xmass Mike, the precisions are great machines.....I have a desktop precision (q9550) T3400 running 16 hours a day for the last 7 years......not a hiccup in that time!
Thank you. Merry Xmas to you too. I also have a T3500, it's the machine that it running that Gyruss game in the background :)
@@MikeDancy well if yours is Nvidia Quadro M2000M 4GB card,my is running Nvidia Quadro M5000M with 8GB card.I am currently setting up up cryptcars and Axie Infinity
Hey, you aren’t old and ugly. Thanks for the review. I’ve been trying to research refurnished laptops I can play a few games on, and it’s so difficult. Just seas and seas of chromebooks and Intel celeron processors…
i use this laptop with 32gbs or ram an i7 and a quadro m2000 and it’s wonderful for gaming and anything

i bought a 7540 with an i7-9850H and a quadro rtx 4000 and it's great
it is the best i have found in upgradability beyond framework
i can swap out my graphics card to a rtx 5000 when it comes time the only thing is when i want to upgrade the cpu it requires a mobo swap
The USB PowerShare feature allows the ports to provide power when the laptop is asleep, not turned off.
You can enable the option in bios laptop will charge your device at above 50 % battery even its completely turned off
@@awaisaliofficial2259 Well the laptops I've seen can't do this.
This laptop is built a lot like my Late 2008 MacBook, with the latch for the split bottom cover.
I like the usage of "Woven Carbon Fiber" on the screen lid, which I've also seen on the Latitude E7470.
Yeah often can get 7510,7520,7710,7720 on dell refurb with coupons for 150-250 Quadro is decent 4GB wise for gaming but still leave allot to be desired. I will say though these are built like a tank and are easy to repair. Sadly I hate the screens these come with so dim IMO. Good video.
You can do a panel swap if you are comfortable with changing the panel!
i got a 7540 from dell refurb that came with a quadro 4000 but man their service was awful
Loooking at upgrading my Lenovo T430 to a used 7740 soon, nothing really wrong with the old Lenovo but it sucks for games and it doesn’t run some software very well. Not it’s fault tho, it’s been an amazing laptop for the six years I’ve had it.
You SSD should be mounted in a removable tray with a blue tab. Also the AC power supply you show is an after market one. The original Dell power supply is 130 watts and is smaller and thicker than yours.
Original is the 180 watt. A warning comes on if a lower wattage one is used
No way, 180 watt AC adapter is the original adapter that comes with all dell precision 7510 machines.
Hello Mike, thanks for the video.
I have refurbish M4800 love most of dell product, and still using until now as primary laptop. Amazing machine
I bought one of those for my daughter, then fell in love with it while I was setting it up for her. So, I bought one for myself, too, along with the docking station. It ended up replacing my desktop PC, and has been running almost 24/7 for the last 3 years.
Just watched lots of 7520 reviews some of them are coming with 4k and 8th gen and other with 1080 display 6th gen 180watt charger ,whats going on also saw renewed on amazon with no reviewers
Also the second 7520 comes with older Nvedia 1200M
I got an i7 7820hq 16gb quadro m620 and a Intel HD 630
you need to install fingerptint drivers and enable tpm in bios.. will run win 11. I have the Intel Xeon w/64Gb and M.3...also.. buy the wwan celular modem and you will have 4g internt putting sim card
I literally purchased this laptop when it was brand new.
i have dell 6800 i got it other day as used $150 plux taxes it came with 250 ssd and 500 gb hard drive came with 16 gb ram windows 10 pro i have upgrade hard drive to ssd 2 tb
That’s a great machine. Do you have a docking station ?
Me too and I like the 7520 too
Should i buy one ?
How is the displau?
I’ve got an old precision 690 workstation that was still tearing it up until I stopped taking care of it. I tried getting her back up and running but it hardly seems worth the effort
agreed. I have so many old computers that just sit around. I can use emulators to run my retro games. Someone will buy it if you list it on ebay or facebook marketplace though
Question what’s your opinion 2 years later… I’m thinking about buying one.
It’s BIG and still in use. I ended up selling two of them to a friend of mine who lives them. My daily driver is a MacBook but only because I edit videos.
I run my i7 6920HQ 7510 with 64GB RAM, Samsung 2TB NvME + EVO 860 4TB SATA SSD 240V adpater and WiFi 6E. I can run all games on max settings and many run like cartoons on high speed.
That’s a nice setup !
Thanks for a great video, but please help me with my question. Does it hurt having this Dell Precision 7510 for fast-paced/competetive FPS games where you may need higher than 60Hz framerate? (For example I think 144Hz looks with less blur even for an older FPS game that I use like Quake 2, at least what I saw in Lenovo Legion 5 with 144Hz display (with RTX 2060 temporarily switched off) vs Lenovo Thinkpad T580 60Hz display, i.e. comparing them while running both PCs just on integrated GPU I see at 144Hz way less "doubling" of objects while moving ingame camera fast in the game, which makes aiming a lot easier). And AFAIK this Dell Precision 7510 has 60Hz display. (And btw can it output higher than 60Hz to an external monitor? Coz I see only external output mentioned at max 60Hz at Dell support) Or could this also be related to response time (ms) of the display too? Would the visual "doubling" effect of 7540 be closer to Legion 5 or to T580 that I mentioned? One can test it by looking at some bright enough object in 3D game (such as a shiny grenade in a slightly darker background in Quake 2) and then moving mouse left-right very fast while keeping the object in the field of view. You would usually see several copies of the object doubled on the screen then, but some computers/screens (such as Legion 5 at 144Hz even on iGPU) show only the leftmost and rightmost "doubled" object as bright ones, and the ones inbetween of these are way less brighter; while other computers/screens (such as Lenovo T580 or another 60Hz monitor even connected to GTX 980 TI) show all of these doublings in almost the same brightness.
I no longer have it and don't have a way to test it. It sounds like you know more about it than I do. have you bought one yet? I wonder how it would work with a external display and if that would be fast enough for you
haven't tested external but the screen isn't the best for gaming
compared to my main 240hz monitor for my desktop the dell has good color accuracy which is what matters in a work environment
hello, this ssd that you put in this machine is a high speed nvme 1gb, 2gb... or is it that ssd m.2 of 500mb
The other two memory slots are under keyboard and cover for the ssd is to keep the ssd drive cool so it want overheat
Just bought a dell referb, pristine shape with 64gb memory blacf friday, looks like it was docked and never physically touched : )
Sweet find. What did you pay if you don’t mind me asking
@@MikeDancy after taxes I think it was around $530 with free shipping directly from Dell with a hundred day warranty
Is It good to buy It now
What do you think of the Dell Precision 3530???
I own it it's pretty good for gaming 1920×1080 low-medium settings 30 to 50fps
Would this be good for my interior design class?
Just got this laptop yesterday and damn its way to good just screen is not very bright and m2 is just trash gonna replace it in some weeks or so overall laptop is very good in performance.
yeah, it's a real beast. I'm a big fan of all the Dell Precisions. The m7710 is nice too since it's a 17" but if the screen acts up, it's hard to replace
@@MikeDancy I also had m4600 i7 2nd but the only problem dell has its charging ICs always go bad thats whats happened to my old laptop
How well do you think that it would run Minecraft Java edition
No issue at all. It’s great for stuff like that
It's is smoothly playable.
help please. i5 7th gen 7200u with UHD620 or i7 6th gen 6820HQ BUT with HD520. I'm getting a laptop and they both are at almost the same price. So I can't decide which one is better. help?
personally I'd take teh 6820HQ since it's a quad core but it really depends on what you want to use it for. my kid has the 6820HQ and he can run some games on it.
@@MikeDancy
Thanks for the reply, sir. Really appreciate it.
I'm about to get this same machine for $280, used of course
Good Day 😊 which machine is better Dell 5580 i7 7th Genration or this one ?
That’s a good question. I’ve had both. The 5580 is a bit lighter and has the USB-C port. I think it really depends on which model you get and what you’re going to do with it. I might make a video comparing the two. Thanks for the idea.
They simply put Win 11 on the SSD first, in an accepted computer, then transferred the SSD into the Precision.
:-)
That's a pretty bad idea for a few reasons. It's better to clean install Windows 11 on the system it's intended to be used on, making use of the bypass methods to skip around the arbitrary restrictions.
Very nice video
Hello folks, I have a question please. Please I would appreciate your comments,
I would like to run Virtual Box on my Dell Precision 7510, would it be capable of handling multiple OS's for training.
I am learning IT Technicians Course in Server/Client Technologies.
I hope this Laptop can handle this type of multiple simulation work.
Yes of course. Although it depends which operating systems specifically and how well you want them to run. You don't actually need a very powerful computer to run VMs, but the power needed gets higher with the more modern OS's used and how smooth you want them to run.
Can I ask if the m2000m can run Red dead redemption 2 on low settings for at least 30fps
On 720p low to medium
I’ve bought a used one it lasts 3 hours maximum only, is it usual in this lap top or I have to change the battery?
That’s pretty good battery life for that machine. A new battery might not be much better but it wouldn’t hurt. It’s a desktop replacement more than a laptop. I have a video coming out on one similar soon.
@@MikeDancy Thank you ❤️
Just turn on switchable graphics and off directoutput in bios your laptop battery backup will be 5 hour
Actually this machine made for charger plugin for full performance
Using internal gpu as display adapter will save your lot of battery
What is the best used 2-in-1 laptop you've used?
I like the Lenovo “twist” s230 and the Dell Inspiron 11. I may do a video on them soon. I have both of them here but they’re both broken.
how does the 3520 with nvidia quadro m620 2gb compare to the m2000 and can it game?
The 3520 is better for 1080p gaming
If you did not
use davince to produce this, what did you use ?
Final Cut Pro probably. Or Windows Movie Maker :)
@@MikeDancy Thanks
, you don't remember?
How does this compare to a E5570 ?
but no win 11 support!
I have one of these laptops and I've never been impressed with it's performance, it always seems to hang up due to dells proprietary bios system and the keyboard and trackpad take turns at not working correctly. Sometimes when it goes to sleep it won't ever wake up thus making me lose all of my open work.
Update your BIOS.
@@Arcobite I did, it changed nothing.
Ever tried to install Dell original drivers for trackpad or reinstalling windows.
Chipset drivers maybe if they even have them
@@Arcobite yes I have and they're all up to date.
It's more than a gaming PC.
And here comes one of Mikes misunderstanding of laptop tech🤦♂️. As much is I agree that it is a tank/workhorse of a laptop but it is a far cry from a gaming laptop. It's a mobile workstation designed for CAD or video/photo editing. Most of them use nVidia Quadro (rarely AMD) GPU which are capable of light but in general pretty bad gaming platform but excellent at the applications I have mentioned above.
It can play all of my Commodore 64 games so it’s a gaming laptop.
@@MikeDancy somehow I knew your sense of humor won't let me down 😎👍🤣🤣🤣
Actually, once you would try to play modern games then I firmly believe that you would definitely say this precision machine offers better gaming performance as compared to other gaming laptops that came back in 2015 or later.
I see your comment is old but I have a correction as you are misunderstanding nvidias product lineup. For example the Quadro M2200 uses the same core as the GTX 965M and therefore provides equal gaming performance (Quadro drivers don’t really make any difference.)
I have personally upgraded my 7520 with a rare Quadro T1000 card which is the Quadro equivalent to the GTX 1650 Ti, it performs the exact same as the GTX in gaming
can i use this for music production
probably. it has a lot of horsepower and audio shouldn't be too hard on it. It could even do some video editing
Has anyone used this Laptop model to do intensive video editing and motion graphics work too?
Well I should think so, that's exactly the type of work the Precision series is made for, amongst other things.
Can't beat mobile workstations
True. I love this machine. I might replace my Thinkpad T450s touchscreen with it
how loud and hot does this beast get
That fan does quick in quite a bit depending on the game.
It's nothing undervolting could slightly mitigate.
It's fans are not noisy but however there is great thrust while gaming on it. So heating is not an issue for it due to turbo fans.
i think it can get x2 32gb inside
I think it can handle that. It should be able to handle 128gb of ram
@@MikeDancy max 2x32gb
