Welcome to stories with a sonographer --
Today is a story time I share with you all about a mistake I made that made me more confident in my career. If you like this video please let me know if you'd like more story times! I have always been quite hesitant to share this story but if I can help one person out there who went through something similar or is going through the same thing, I feel like it's better to share than to keep it inside. I have forgiven myself for this mistake and you should forgive yourself too. Thanks for being here!

Sounds like you were just trying to confirm what the doctors, nurses, and patient was telling you. You shouldn’t be embarrassed. You sharing this story is vulnerable, so thank you for sharing! Your story will always be in the back of my mind now when I’m being questioned about what I saw.

As a sonographer, I hate when nurses and doctors try to push their weight around when it comes to our exams. They do it all the time and try to act like they know anything about ultrasound. Truth is, they have no idea. We are the experts. Thank you for sharing this story. It will definitely help me remember to be more confident in what I know.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It really does get tough. We are the experts for sure! We see way more than they do. They really got to my head but sometimes these situations need to happen to help us grow. I appreciate you being here!

Your sooo lucky that your manager is so understanding and on your side. I'm glad you told us this story. I really think you need to share more "negative " stories so we can learn from your mistakes. I live hearing waring stories

I really am lucky that he was understating. I feel like some places would probably write you up or something. But this is definitely true. We learn from our mistakes and I know others go through it too. I appreciate you so much!

Thank you for sharing your story Geselle !! I LOVE obgyn and now work in an obgyn office. It’s just me soo I’m super nervous but I do rely on my coworkers and txt them sometimes. I also send my patients to MFM if I’m unsure about something. Sometimes I hate doing it, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. My doctors appreciate it and it makes it worth it!
I’m soo glad your manager was behind you and uplifted you! Our job is definitely hard but rewarding! In school I was always told to be more confident. Now 6years later I’m finally there but Heyy it’s called medical PRACTICE for a reason. We are always learning❤️

Thanks for sharing! Off the top of my head... Last year, long story short, I had never seen a mass of the epi tail before this one. So when I scanned it during a scrotal US, the radiologist was upset that I didn't confidently know if the mass was from the epi tail, & he made me call the patient back to scan it him himself & confirm.
On the bright side, later my newer coworker scanned a similar mass & I was able to help her w/ it.
I have around 1.7yrs exp & my coworker is almost 1yr now (even less when we scanned these). But it's just us in our US dept 😐 so I didnt have anyone more experienced to ask

Thank you so much. I'm a junior in high school and haven't figured out what I wanted to do until now. I'm not so educated on sonography, but it is something I want to become, and your videos have been beneficial.
