This is an excellent educational video. In my case, my 2010 Dodge Journey SXT was exhibiting "ghost horn" and battery draining symptoms. I had a few choices: 1) Replace or have the TIPM rebuilt (possible issue with hardwired horn relay) 2) Replace the horn switch 3) Replace the clockspring. Well, turns out that after replacing the clockspring the "ghost horn" continued. I replaced the horn switch and the issue was resolved with a $20 part and 5 minutes of time. In the end, these guys and this video saved me a ton of money. Sure, I might have unnecessarily replaced the clockspring but I did this all myself. These guys are very empowering. Please follow their safety warnings or seek help from a professional.

@@ValFolarin Clock spring manages more than you realize. The wiring to the steering wheel controls are routed through it. There are cases where a shorting/failing clock spring can actually affect the horn from what I was reading. I didn't need a video for the horn switch. As soon as you get the airbag off, it's right there. I started with the clock spring because I didn't want to start with the TIPM (most expensive). I could hear the relay clicking in the TIPM when I hit the horn so I kind of assumed it wasn't the issue anyways.
Please explain what part you replaced to fix the ghost horn. I have same problem and when horn blasts at red light, cars in front of me rapidly accelerate into traffic
Hi I am having the typical 1st gen 2010 Dodge Journey 2.4 electrical gremlin issue and would like to see a TIPM and electrical troubleshoot for horn going off by itself, and of course the voltage drop between the battery and the cabin that prevents it from starting. Trickle charger installed under hood on block heater line plugged in 4 hours a night it starts but a week without and it needs a jump. Starts and runs good though. Ty Great work!

Only noobs remove metal accessories, most professionals do not even disconnect the battery, that is only done to prevent noobs from shorting stuff out. Pros know not to short power or data lines. Same goes for computer motherboard repairs, noobs get an anti static bracelet and stuff and pros just open it up and work on it.

2011 Dodge Avenger Mainstreet. Horn is not working but Airbag System and all other steering wheel electronics are working fine. There is NO airbag light on. Any recommendations on this as the Horn is pretty important.

Well i just got a brand new alternator and battery for my 2010 dodge journey awd rt and when i turnt my car on i couldnt turn my steering wheel all the way at all and my battery light came on and then my car lights cut on by themselves and then it just shut off can u tell me whats going on with my car please
Is the new battery charged? I ask because my 2015 d j did what you described....it turned out to be the battery dead. I got a jump and it started up right away (wife claims she didnt leave interior lights on or door open.... 👀) I thought Id need a new battery but its been nearly a week and so rar so good!
I almost failed to mention that I did the obdII scan and got the code po562 which is "When the code P0562 is set in the Powertrain Computer, it means that the Powertrain Computer or PCM is seeing a lower than requested vehicle voltage. The code will set when the voltage level goes below 10.0 volts for more than 60 seconds while the engine is running." So after the jump, did the code scan, and then reset the check engine/malfunction light....no problems since and light stayed off! Still recommend running a scan on your vehicle as you may get other code(s) Hope this helps!
You need a scan tool that has SAS capability. Foxwell makes one for around 150 bucks its the NT630 Elite and that's the cheapest I have been able to find.

@@Joseif- The horn switch fixed it. It's directly under the steering wheel airbag.

Get it checked instead of tossing the parts cannon at it. Start with Reading the codes
You should of shown putting the steering back together as well not just cutting it off half way haha.
