Great video! How shallow can you confidently run? And how is turning around in those tight creeks? I’m thinking about a flat bottom build to get deeper into tidal marshes here in DE
Did u remove the engine governor cause it seems to be bogging at higher speeds or ur tune is off and needs more fuel on the top end. I know the video is old lol.
Nice Video, I just took my 12' Jon out for its first voyage with the Mudskipper and it did great. My transom seems fine but do you add extra bracing?? or just rebuild a rotted transom??? thanks Mack
I replaced the wood with a larger piece and had a friend weld some extra aluminum to key points of the transom to handle the extra weight and force of the motor. The boat was so old the metal used was pretty thin. Wouldn't need to do all that with a newer jon boat.
I just got a 1974 Sears 12' that my grandpa bought new. I want to build a long tail 6.5 with a predator engine but can't decide what kit to get. What did you use?
Am I the only person who converted my 12 foot jon boat into a Rock River boat anyone else put rubber Hume on the bottom of their boat to protect it from slamming into rocks when you jump things I need to make a UA-cam video LOL
Great kit! In the summer, I drove this with a similar forced lifan gs212e engine (6000 rpm max).
Man I’m getting a 10 go Devil today and we r gonna put it on a ten foot aluminum boat… vid should be up tomorrow or Thursday
What that .... Rivers is yours - clasic soundtrack 😂 winner peke peke

Get a mud skipper long tail kit
That’s why I came to this video I have the same boat and I’m buying the same engine
@@ruttinandguttin7306 I know this is an old post, bit mudskipper now has what they call the "iron long tail", it's super badass
That's longtailin in shallow its what it's for!
what boat is that?
It's a sears 12 ft Jon boat that's a 1970's model. All rivets have been redone and transom rebuilt to handle the extra weight
How much does the motor weigh?
I think the motor weighed around 35 and the ponytail kit weighed about the same.
How much better does it run with the stage 2?
gains go up to around 14 horsepower with a stage 1,2 and taking the governed out i believe
The diy kits are cheap and cool. But they are loud!
You scare everything away and piss off all the other hunters.
No louder than the surface drives most people run
Not louder then a johnson 2 stroke tho lol

What did you use exactly? I need to do this the Sacramento River is real rocky
