I had this record when I was 17. My Dad did not like my Music, so I had to use Headphones. One night I put this song on, but the headphones were not plugged all the way in. My Stereo was cranked Loudly at 1 am! My Dad woke up and came out to the living Room! I quickly plugged the head phones in, turned off the Stereo, and hid behind the couch! That was a close one! Fun Memory that I have when I hear this Epic Funk Classic! The Brothers Johnson forever!
I WAS 11 IN 1976 THEN, NOW 60 Y/O. YEAH RIGHT! MY MOM SAID TO ME AND MY BROTHER MANNY THEN 16(RIP) SHE SAID: TURN IT DOWN, DANNY AND MANNY! THOSE WERE GREAT TIMES!
Im 61 now... grew up in lower SC USA ! Funk was the Driving Force Back in The Day !! !! I Still Pump this in my Old School Kenwoods And Bose ! Hell Yes !!
Seen these boys in 1980 me and my wife she never been to a concert. It was her first time in USA she German and I was station in German when we got married. Came to the states met my family. Best funky ass show and we were right up front cleveland ohio miss music like this. Only time I got to see them. Genius
I’m 39 and I grew up hearing my dad play funk music and this is one song that stuck with me I heard it so much. Now all I love is funk music, along with soul, jazz, pop, and rock
ur dad raised u on the best period i was a teen when all this GOD like music was out and im telling u we had it so damn good u would ve wished u came up in the 70's and 80's this was thee best time too be on this planet for real !!!
ad they have the nerve to put this era down..HA!..they just don't know, because they weren't there and therefore have no idea what it all means - to say nothing of 'their' music having grown out of this!...........
It's a pity that the younger generation doesn't realize that if it weren't for the 70s music, the modern day music wouldn't have anything to learn from.
I remember listening to this song 🎶 at a wedding back in early 1970’s and I never heard this music again and fast forward to 2024 .This is the first time listening to it and thank you 🙏 You Tube
Loved The Brothers Johnson. Heard this song while re-watching True Blood for about the 10th time. Lafayette (my favorite ~ RIP Nelsan Ellis) was dancing to it.
Oh yea bring it all the way back, cool memories of dancing to this on a disco light up squared floor with fake smoke, a mirror ball. Doing the soul train with guys on one side, girls the other and meeting in middle to ‘dance down the train’,,,still dancing to this day it keeps me happy and young 🫶🦋🫶

XM 50 The Groove sent me here.. but heard this alot back in the day! Strawberry Letter 23 was prolly most popular. i lived too far from Dallas, TX to get any good R&B stations, on FM.. but late 70s was a station you could pick up here (Lk Texoma area) on low end of the AM dial out of St Louis, MO, that played alot of Funk/Soul.. Parliament , Funkadelic all that, Brother Johnson, Sister Sledge, Heatwave.. all the big name bands. was about all i listened to.. of course Dance/Disco was big at the time, and was heavily into that, starting at age 16. pretty much lived n breathed disco for about 3 years till it starting sorta winding down around 1980 ☮
This is my get up hit the highway music so amazing talent guys these children don't know anything about this kind of music thank you Brothers Johnson.❤❤❤❤
I remember those Afro hairstyles, I'd let my baby sister or great grandmother platt mine and I'd take it loose right before I got ready to leave the house.
The funny thing is the initial video is really. I'll be good to you...but their moves were on the same beat as this song. Unless you saw his lips moving differently, you wouldn't know
😎Those were some good days, for good music like this!

I was happy to see them play this song in concert and Louis do his style and was blown away!! I saw him play again before he passed away.
Two amazing guitar talents; extronodiary. R. I. P Louis.
Funk was not disco. Funk was Funk.
Well, Funk put the funk in Disco....What was disco a combo of funk and pop (1978 revolution) but it all goes back To MOTOWN!
They have similar properties for sure though, Disco-Funk also exists.

You don't like my music
You don't have to use it
Funkin' is a thing that all of us release
You don't have to get it
All you do is let it
Then you'll know exactly how to groove
You don't like my music
You don't have to use it
Funkin' is a thing that all of us release
You don't have to play it
You don't have to say it
You don't even have to try to sing it
Get the funk out ma face
Get the funk out ma face
Get the funk out ma face
Get the funk out ma face
You don't like my music
You don't have to use it
Funkin' is a thing that all of us release
You don't have to get it
All you do is let it
Then tell us our funk did you some good
This much more funkier than both the album and 12 inch single!!! This is the way it should have been on the original single in my opinion!!!
True Classic 👌

another underrated band
They were very fortunate to have Harvey Mason as their studio drummer back in those days.
This "get the Funk-out-o-my-face" rhyme always reminds me of the "Alien facehugger" sequences...
"just get it out of my face!"
