I used to be a only abrazx and invizx guy. After seeing berkely vanish at a walmart i tried it out and havent switched since. I see no real world use difference and have caught a ton of fish on vanish. Get a huge spool for under 20. I still have large spools of invizx left but i dont even touch it anymore. Think of it as a trophy mount lol.

Good video. One other area where I think Tatsu is 100% worth the money is for jerkbaits. The lack of line memory makes it perfect for suspending jerkbaits. The line is so limo that it does not effect the bait at all on long pauses. Cheaper line can have enough recoil from line memory to actually move the bait slightly during the pause.

My mom bought me a 900 yard spool of 4lb blue mono at a random dollar store when I was 14. I am 38 years old now and still have a bunch of the line. I spooled it up a few years ago on a ultralight rod and it is still like new. I used other lines between now and then of course, and prefer braid. But it has lasted me the majority of my life. Point is, if you take care of your line and store it properly, it can last a hell of a long time. It's still my go to for light leader material.

I was braid only, but I'm learning to cast fluorocarbon now. I've used Berkeley Vanish to kinky, Seagar InvizX easier to cast, and Kastking Kovert, too stiff/fluffy for my liking. Straight braid or braid to leader is still my favorite and easiest to cast for me... Thanks for sharing 🍺🎣

The idea of throwing straight fluro is pushed by line makers. I would love to hear a honest rebuttle where fluro would be better than braid to leader or strait mon/copoly

    • @ShaneJMcNair
      @ShaneJMcNair 2 роки тому +4

@Rainbo Sprinkles Straight Florocarbon will transmit vibrations on slack line where the other lines won't when finesse fishing. You will need a highend very sensitive rod to be able to detect those vibrations. Also, Straight Florocarbon will sink and run deeper for cranking when needed. You can back with mono to save money on Straight Florocarbon. Hope this helps 🍺🎣

My experience proved to me that the affordable bass pro xps brand of fluro has done wonders without the high cost of " name brand " products. I agree with most of this. Good stuff.
Mono and copolymer are more abrasion resistant. Unfortunately, people dont understand refraction and reflection. The claim from fluro makers that its invisible is good marketing, but thts about it.
Fluro has less stretch. Thats about it. So if thats important, go for it. As a leader material, ill take 15lb monoover 20lb fluro all day for toughness.

I've seriously been pondering new line for my Pflueger President reel and monofilament lines have been very high on my short list of new lines. I once had a full spool of pretty good fluorocarbon, Sniper, and it flew off my spool after maybe 20 casts and I knew how to use the reel. So, I went to braid with the leader which reminds me of fly fishin.

I won some spools of higher end flouro in fantasy fishing and it was good but not noticeably better than Assassin in my experience. Fair enough. Makes sense having a lesser quality fluro, for less demanding applications.
I use Tatsu for close quarters pitching . . . I'll put on 40 yards at a time (I back the reel 1st) and so I'll get 5 spool-ups out of a 200 yard spool.
I also un-spool the line after a trip and run it through a small piece of cloth saturated with Line & lure Conditioner, then spool it back on the same way.
This makes the Tatsu last even longer . . . . I fish pretty often, and 1 spool of Tatsu will last me about a season & a half . . . makes it a bit easier to stomach the price.
Takes a few extra minutes to do this . . . but it's really nice having such a premium line when we spend so much money on everything else . . . after all, the line is where the hustle meets the muscle.

I use Mono (suffix elite) 90% of the time. When I do fish a crank bait or jerkbait , I use Pline. Hardly ever use straight which ever. I am a braid to leader guy. So mostly Im talking about what I use as a leader. I have a rod spooled up with 100% 12lb suffix elite 12lb that I fish my whopper plopper ,bbz1 rats, once top water is back poppin here in east TN. Best budget braid is Hercules PE, I also keep a spool of Berkely Invisialine > Now that is a budget Flouro. But seriously @ years ago I started using Higher end lines, for my leader material and i will never go back. But yes mostly fish a jig and mainly go braid to leader with Suffix Elite 10 or 12lb mono. I land a very high percentage of my fish. I also will add that to me, Seagur and Sniper are expensive line! Maybe Im poor but I catch fish!

Im an inhore kayak fisherman mostly. I do fish for bass often, too, though. A $6, 700 yd spool of ande or big game is what I use fpr leader most the time and it works much better than any fluro Ive used as a leader. When fishing inshore getting snagged in oyters or a fish running through pilings is a given. With fluro, its almost a sure bet youll get broke off. Mono, im still getting that fish to the boat. Hellabass, good video. I agree with you on using the higher end flouro for dragging baits, I do use some (few) flouro for small crankbaits and jerkbaits. A few years ago I went to flouro reaction baits, but after a couple of frustrating yrs dealing with flouro lines I reverted back to PLine co-polymer CXX xtra-strong for all my reaction baits. I can buy a 3000 yd spool of PLine for the cost of 660 yd spool of Sniper, when AFL has their Sunline sale.
Seldom do I think the water is so clear on Ky Lake that I need flouro line for reaction baits. Then after a while I swap the braid by putting it on another reel. The old becomes the bottom and what has not been exposed to much water is now on top. The only line I spool my reels with is Izorline xxx copolymer. It’s limp, low stretch, abrasive resistant, very low memory, strong as hell, small diameter, incredible knot strength, neutrally buoyant, and best of all, extremely well priced. After 40 years of salt and freshwater fishing and experimenting with a plethora of brands, Izorline xxx copolymer surpasses them all. Tackle Warehouse is where I buy mine.

I know your a busy guy but if you have time. I have mono on all reels I’ve been using them for everything. Also to be honest it’s the one that cabelas and bass pro gives you when you purchase a reel. My question is would I notice a big difference if switched the line out to the application the rod Is for? P-Line Ultimate fluoro is certainly in the mix on the budget side. Assassin is more sensitive and durable than Sniper...and feel Assassin 12# it's superior than Sniper 12# noticeably. Tatsu is the creme de la creme for sure and likewise use it for leaders only. It's worth noting that I use 12# Assassin for 10XD and Big M 7.5 deep cranking and have never had issues. Don't know why, i use Copoly and Mono for moving baits in darker color rivers and caught good Smallies cause the they keep my bait higher too. Use braid backing on all my reels (baitcasting and spinning). This will save how much fluro you will actually be spooling with. Then seagur red label for all reaction (cranking, chatterbaiting, etc.) except jerkbaiting. A little stretch with it is actually beneficial for reaction baits. Seagur invisx for all spinning reels and and jerkbaiting because it's extremely manageable and less memory. Seagur abrazx for all jiggin and flippin n pitchin that's not into vegetation and bottom-contact techniques.
