  • Diesel Upgrade Guide: This is a very quick and concise overview of the best engine mods & upgrades for your diesel engine.
We have a longer much more detailed video if you would like to delve further into the world of diesel tuning and upgrades, but for most this will highlight the most effective mods and upgrades for your turbo diesel engine, allowing you to maximize performance on it and tune it to the optimum levels.
Turbos:Turbochargers are the heart of forced induction systems, and they can unlock a whole new level of power. In this chapter, we explain how turbochargers work, the different types available, and the benefits they offer in terms of increased horsepower and torque. Whether you're looking to improve acceleration or overall performance, turbochargers are a fantastic option to consider.
Hybrid Turbos:Take your turbocharging game to the next level with hybrid turbos. These specialized upgrades combine the best of both worlds, offering increased power without sacrificing response. We discuss the advantages of hybrid turbos, including improved airflow, reduced turbo lag, and enhanced durability. Discover how these upgrades can transform your vehicle's performance on the road or track.
Exhaust Upgrades:Upgrading your vehicle's exhaust system is an effective way to improve performance and unleash a captivating sound. In this chapter, we delve into the world of exhaust modifications, from cat-back and axle-back systems to headers and downpipes. Learn how each component contributes to increased horsepower, enhanced throttle response, and an exhilarating engine note that will turn heads wherever you go.
Catalysts & DPFs:Catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters (DPFs) play a crucial role in reducing emissions, but they can also restrict performance. In this segment, we explore the options available for upgrading or replacing these components. Discover how high-flow catalytic converters and performance-oriented DPFs can help you achieve a perfect balance between power and environmental responsibility.
EGR Removal:The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system has its benefits, but it can hinder performance by introducing unburned gases into the combustion chamber. In this chapter, we discuss the advantages of removing the EGR system and explain how it can improve engine responsiveness, reduce carbon buildup, and enhance overall efficiency. Unleash the full potential of your engine with EGR removal.
Intake Mods:The intake system is responsible for delivering air to the engine, and upgrading it can make a substantial difference in performance. Join us as we explore the world of intake modifications, including cold air intakes, performance air filters, and intake manifold upgrades. Learn how these enhancements can optimize airflow, increase horsepower, and provide a more exhilarating driving experience.
Intercoolers:Intercoolers are essential for maximizing the power and efficiency of forced induction systems. In this section, we delve into the world of intercooler upgrades, discussing the benefits of larger intercoolers, better heat dissipation, and reduced intake temperatures. Discover how upgrading your intercooler can improve engine reliability, prevent heat-related issues, and enhance overall performance.
Fuel System:A well-optimized fuel system is crucial for extracting every ounce of power from your engine. In this chapter, we explore fuel system upgrades, including high-flow injectors, performance fuel pumps, and fuel pressure regulators. Learn how these modifications can ensure a consistent fuel supply, improve combustion efficiency, and provide the necessary fueling for increased performance gains.
Computer Tunes, Maps, Flashing:To fully harness the potential of your performance upgrades, optimizing the engine's computer system is essential. In this final chapter, we discuss computer tunes, maps, and flashing, which allow you to re calibrate various engine parameters. Learn how these modifications can fine-tune your vehicle's performance characteristics, optimize power delivery, and extract maximum performance from your upgraded components.Whether you're a car enthusiast or looking to enhance your vehicle's performance, this video has something for everyone.

Definitely interested in getting the most from my TT tdi. Already have it mapped and fitted an induction kit too. Thanks for the informative video!

Cool. There is more TT stuff planned so stay tuned. Did the induction kit make much of a difference for you? I'm always interested to hear what people think about the mods they do on their diesel engines.

@@torquecars Not sure about a bhp increase with the kit. The noise though is awesome, with a little throttle response you can hear the whoosh and when you let off there is even some turbo flutter 🙂

I've got an ibiza cupra 6l 1.9pd with piper 272° cam , I'm looking to use it for fast road and possible track days , what's your thoughts on a GTB2060VKLR with billet wheel and ceramic bearings ?

My BMW 635D has a small and large Turbo set up so how do they work together?
a video on the twin set up would be much appreciated.

Small turbo spools up faster than the bigger turbo but the bigger turbo once spooled up can push more air into the engine. So the smaller turbo gives boost at low rps and the bigger turbo gives boost at higher rpms.

More economy without any power loss? Especially at high motorway speed/s?

Just got my octavia estate with the "4X4" system and the 140bhp 2.0tdi . Cant wait to get to work on it , its going to be my first modded motor. Tell me is it worth trying for a bigger turbo before i do a remap ? I don't want to go too high anyway 160-180 is plenty for me , I'm just thinking about the long-term life of the vehicle

A turbo is pretty expensive and won't give you much extra at the sub 190hp region other than more lag, so the 140 should reach your ballpark aim fairly easily, then if the turbo ages and wears out it makes sense to invest in an upgrade and take it to the next level. My 140 2.0TDi sat happily around the 170hp for the 5 years I owned it without any problems at all.

@@torquecars that's great to hear , once i get a nice remap done other than general wear could the increased performance cause issues regarding the EGR? Thanks for the informative videos , straight to the point and easy for a beginner to understand.

Remapped my 2.0 tdi from 150 to 190bhp 435 NMT, two months later fly wheel went so had to upgrade to sach performance clutch and flywheel , something to think about

@@macca2760 I doubt the remap actually broke your flywheel. The Dual Mass flywheel does usually gradually fail to the point where they sound like a torque converter with some broken-off vanes rolling around, colliding with existing vanes, get lodged etc. So if you know that noise you'll know that it would demand your attention. A sudden failure is usually a matter of stress, however my car was mapped to 205 bhp and almost exactly the same torque and I have no trouble at all. I do however have a Dual Mass Flywheel where the springs have got slightly slack it is caused the mass to knock back and forth a bit. However, it is interesting to note that this usualy disappears after the engine is warm and it will also disappear if the engine idle speed is raised slightly. Some people who have done the Sachs mod say they found it had its own disappointments.

You won't even catch me in my 1.9 TDi Polo PD130 with GTB2056 Hybrid Turbo 305HP & 680nm, I've destroyed most GTB2260VKLR doing 300hp, I got a Stage 3 Copper Clutch 6 puck, Gearbox had some serious mods for 1st gear to 4th gear 5th and 6th are standard gears, Turbo can do 340hp with 100% injectors but currently running 50% injector nozzles, got Yokohama Semi slicks, Big FMIC, Stainless steel boost pipes, custom, 76mm downpipe with twin tailpiece 57mm exhaust, Upgraded diesel pump, N75 Valve, Car ran 12.3 seconds quarter mile
