    I can understand people wanting to see Peter Parker going back to his roots but I also liked the idea of seeing him be successful. It seemed like a natural progression for the character considering he was always intelligent and hardworking.

    I actually liked the idea of Peter finally being successful after all these years and putting his intelligence to good use. Sure, he was "Iron Man-lite," but I was happy to see things finally looking up for him, especially since he's, what, in his 30's now? Alas, people hated it, so it wasn't meant to be. Maybe Peter should go back to being a teacher. At least it was a stable job.

      Rising Horizon Gaming that too but i think they are getting back. Not sure, but it looked like it in the latest issue. I havent read the latest latest issue (#797), but it looked like it in #796
      And the writer is changing after #801. Marvel is also starting a "fresh start" initiative. Kind of a reboot, not really sure but Amazing Spider-Man #1 comes out in june or july i think. So theres still hope buddy!

    Truth be told... People should be yelling at the Marvel writers instead of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Peter could have become a good CEO if the writers slowly made him adapt to this new life. Instead of that, they are adamant about keeping Peter in a place where he can't move up and do something revolutionary. With proper planning, Peter could have been a good CEO, rivaling Tony Stark.
    Also, bringing Otto back, especially as a Spider-Clone, completely ruins the redemption, and understanding he had when he realized there is more to being Spider-Man than just fancy gadgets. Otto realized he can't be a proper Spider-Man at the end of "Superior Spider-Man," and brought Peter back so he could stop Green Goblin, and save Anna-Marie at the cost of his own life.
    A lot of people think the writers should make Peter a science teacher again, or at least make him work at Horizon Labs. While I agree that those stories were good, Peter has the potential to push past that, but the writers don't let him. He is relatable because he came from small beginnings, started of broke, and changed into a responsible man with kind nature to match. However, he doesn't have to be constantly broke to be relatable. He can push hard, try to reach the next day, and make a good impact, big or small. That's what makes a person good. That's what makes them a hero.
    Marvel's inability to let their characters flourish, along with denying them opportunities to become their best selves, is why they keep running out of good stories and keep pressing the same "reboot" button over, and over again.

  • @eelrockart2182

    This is why spiderman writers will never win. If peter gets any growth as a character, people hate it. If peter doesn't and he's set back to zero, people will hate it. If a new spiderman comes in to give everyone 2 different stories, people will hate it. It seems like he will always be trapped in this constant cycle of soft reboots until the end of time....
    NOTE: I'm not saying either side is right or wrong, I'm just saying that because they are evenly divided, Peter Parker's stories will always be dissaponting overall.

      It's because he's being torn between age groups, there are adults who love spiderman and they're trying to making him relatable to them but there's a lot of teenagers and they try to make him relatable with them too but to be honest that's what ultimate peter parker was for, to relate to the teenagers and since they killed him off we only have one Spiderman, (well there's miles but let's be honest he's still not as satisfying as regular peter since many people grew up with him) I know some people will get mad I said that but you kind of have to except that peter has been around for a lot longer and has gernally a bigger audience.

      i can agree with that or heck personally as i keep bringing up over and over like a broken record at this point have him become a remarried to his wife mary jane and let him and her have there daughters or son alive and kicking in the main marvel universe because if it works for superman and lois lane who have there son Jon aka superboy then it can work for spidey aka peter parker and mary jane

    • @bigboycheesepuffs9644
      @bigboycheesepuffs9644 6 років тому +11

      Tevya Smolka exactly 100% Agreed, if people want broke Parker, there are 30 years of great storylines available to you, and use new/underrated villains(stop constantly using Norman Osborn and Dock Ock) honestly I think Osborn should’ve never came back because of Clone Saga and sins past, plus goblin’s last stand seemed as a perfect end to his character

    • @TevyaSmolka
      @TevyaSmolka 6 років тому +5

      agreed and in fact one of all time favorite stories from spider-man is the spider-man the real clone saga which in my personal opinion was the clone saga that i wished we got back in the 90's because this clone saga actually has a happy ending for ben riely aka scarlet spider and has peter parker and mary jane have there daughter mayday parker aka spider-girl alive and not dead.

    • @thegenerousdegenerate9395

      They need to have him find out his identity and then have spideys/Peters actions be the direct cause of his death while spidey was trying to save him and then at the end blame Peter for everything, how he died cause peter was a dick. Then use it as some sorta come to Jesus moment for Peter about what really matters and then stop being a spoiled shit.

    I think it was a great change, I was happy when he was finally getting what he deserved though, to me it made sense he's a genius it's hard to imagine someone with his intellect would be broke...but I think it's nice he's back in his element where the character truly shines without him feeling like he hasn't grown. Like yes he's at the Bugle, but he's not working for pocket change selling photos he has a "proper" job and I think is maybe a little more relatable to the average person at least more so than he was, and I think the whole thing makes a very nice overall story makes it feel like he's really changed as a character.

    What made peter Parker so relatable and loved is that when he isn’t spider man he’s just a normal dude with normal adult problems. Then he gets a billion dollar company and becomes one of the most popular people on earth. Why the fuck would marvel change his character so much? If they’re out of ideas then STOP WRITING BOOKS. Quit ruining characters just to sell books.

    All I can say is thank God Dan Slott's leaving Amazing Spider-Man. While One More Day's effects still irritate me, the fact that Peter is still a constantly down on his luck loser that doesn't learn from his choices and mature into a fully rounded adult, is what really pisses me off. Runs like JMS' and the Renew Your Vows series show a protagonist who has problems and hangups, but does his best to be there and help the world, as well as his loved ones and balance his own personal issues. Point is, Spider-man should have 1: A career that utilizes his skills & allow him to afford a comfortable home 2: Storylines that have weight and develop the character. Things like his supporting cast knowing his secret identity or a storyline that changes something drastically wouldn't be "forgotten" in the real world, the same should be so in the comics. And last but certainly not least... 3: Relationships in his personal life that stick and give him something to actually be responsible for. What really makes the phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" so unique to Peter is its dual meaning: He has great power and feels a great responsibility to help the world. However, what he (and Marvel at large) fail to realize, is that with power comes an even greater responsibility to keep yourself balanced and in touch with those you are obligated to help, less that feeling of obligation consume you. Having Peter Parker as husband, father and proper mentor to others ( Miles Morales\ Cindy Moon, HINT HINT), will give Spidey something to look forward to & provide times for story opportunities for supporting characters. If this is going to work, two things have to be done with Spidey's character IMO. There must be an arc in which Peter faces his past demons and gets over the guilt he feels over losing so many people, maybe have a psychic session with Jean Grey to get a look into his psyche. Secondly & this is controversial but stay with me (clears throat): May Reily Parker Has. To. DIE. Since One More Day, Aunt May has had no significant role in Amazing Spider-Man or any of the Spidey books (To my knowledge, correct me if I' wrong.). Having a dramatic storyline where Aunt May dies of natural health causes, with Peter letting her go both physically and emotionally (not struggling to try and "save" to the point of madness like OMD) and using it to solve the problems caused by Mephisto's magic, provides a great jumping on point for longtime fans who've left & an interesting narrative for continuing readers. A Spider-Man who's well adjusted and raising a family does and CAN work, as writers like Strazynski and the Renew your vows line prove, heck putting his sister Teressa in May's role will make things more entertaining. You don't want your biggest solo flagship character to be remembered as repetitive and dull, do you Marvel?

      Perey same with the fans they want spidey to be a broke boy man child, never evolving, and the same villains ruin his life and get away with it

    Okay. Do here's how I feel. Peter making use of his inventions for profit is good but...he shouldn't have been the head of his own company. Peter is a researcher and inventor, not a businessman. Peter getting a stable job at the Daily Bugle makes me feel all warm inside. So Peter failed as a CEO,(Why he did have savings is beyond me, especially when he Deb that habit a while back/, the fact is that he wasn't suited to it. But he can still succeed at being an adult and getting back to his roots. We payed homage to the fact that Peter is one of the smartest people in the world. But now we're in an environment where he's comfortable, still has authority, and people will take him seriously. Marvel didn't void Peter's adulthood. They're just making him into the adult he was meant to be. We've had, Teacher, Freelance Photographer, Researcher, policeman, and CEO. But I don't think we've ever once seen Peter as an Editor. So Peter moped around after losing a billion dollar company. He put on his Big boy webs and pulled himself together and that landed him a job in a higher position at the Daily Bugle than before. Peter isn't regression or stagnation. He's still moving forward!
