"I CANNOT CAMEMBERT IT ANYMORE!"
Is possibly the greatest song lyric of all time.
I love that when he does this sone live now, that lyric is by far the most popular moment of the night. I saw him a few days ago and it must have taken 20 tries before the audience actually let him finish the line
@@audigex Saw him in Blackpool do the same thing, someone threw a babybel at him also, which he lovingly unwrapped before belting back into the crowd, best show I've ever been to by far
It was great, but a bit cheesy though...
sorry ;p
And in second place: "Edam you, mon amour."
@@MigeMaurAnd third, "trying to replace my fondues with fon-don'ts."
So this is what happens when someone gives Tim an orchestra...
This comment is weirdly perfect and I love you for writing it
Oh boy wait until you see Thank You God
Creepy creeper ...
So this is what happens when you give an Orchestra, Tim
@@LucienFender Well honestly this also makes sense
It cracks me up how desperately he was trying to get the audience to spell cheese with him, and they just kind of stare at him blankly, slightly confused.
It's a sad sight...
...That’s the joke
@@benrose5153 What? No.. this is a live performsnce, not a sketch
@@benrose5153 Well Tim is really good at working a crowd and is able to simulataneously act as if he is trying to get them to spell it with him while also discouraging that behavior in subtle ways. He's using that to really play up the fact that he's out of place with this fancy orchestra in this fancy theater and how funny it is that he's even there.
So yes, that is the joke. I am just saying he executes it really well.
@@soupisfornoobs4081 Look at the response below yours
This song is played in the key of C by the way. I'm sure this is on purpose.
He should have dropped a semitone into Brie major.
+ChainReaction! Yay, my bad joke got a (chain) reaction. In fact, the joke was so bad I forgot I had made it.
that's nacho joke
+MatiuPirihimana That is so bad, I love it.
These puns are good, but they could be gouda.
‘That feeling when you write an entire orchestral funk epic just to show off how brilliant your drummer is and all anyone’s talking about is the cheese puns’
Well, this is, by far, the best song about cheese.
djole94hns where the cheese go by ween is quite epic!!
It's not about actual cheese
@@leobonek3204 yes it's about funky funky funky cheese :,)
I'm late to the party, but I'm not sure I agree. There are so many great cheese songs, and I'm not sure I can pick just one as the best
@@Danielson1818 i cannot brie-lieve you'd think this is not the best
This is possibly the deepest song I have ever listened to... It really makes me think about the universe we live in...
Amber Heaviside :]
That's just really cheesy
Makes me think about cheese
kkkkkk
Tim is so cool he created a clone of himself to play the drums
And that clone has an evil bass playing fraternal twin.
You guys deserve a novel for this comment
This comment is genius
Tim Minchin: a comedian of such power he can astrally project himself to play the drums while he's doing other stuff
Can Tim write the next Bond theme PLEASE!!!?
I think he did
Guy on the 1st Trombone is lactose intolerant.
Still does his job.
*thumb up*
a lot of cheese contains very little lactose.
Bacon CheeseCake from what I've heard, cheese has historically been used by less lactose tolerant people instead of milk
Sounds about right. From what I've heard, Its main purpose was a way of storing milk without it going bad as quickly.
The hero this city needs
I just saw Thank You God and now this. Suddenly I’ve gone from hearing nothing he’s ever done, to wanting to hear everything he’s ever done 😂
That's what happens. So, over the last 9 months, did you get anything else done other that watch and read about Tim?
Tim is EVERYTHING. I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey
Of course he plays keytar on a song called Cheese.
Naturally.
This is like watching the human version of The Muppet Show and wondering where those two grumpy old men muppets Statler and Waldorf are sitting in this gorgeous theatre, particularly the last part of the song when Tim is just going at the electronic keyboard with his head bobbing and his eyes ablaze like a muppet ripping through a song. I feel like a kid again watching this awesome video.
What's amazing is at some point, he was sitting around, and the thought came to him "Hey, I should write a brilliantly written and arranged multi-genre epic dedicated to coagulated milk products."
Really thought the whole song was just gonna be him saying cheese and it wouldve been just as wonderful
The commitment to absurdity is nothing short of beautiful
I agree.
I can just imagine the auditions...
"Yeah... I like him, he looks like, uh, me."
The beginning is hilarious, he has an entire freaking orchestra behind him and he just keeps saying "cheese". Then the brilliant lyrics start, this may be his best song ever!
My god, did he write the music for everyone? That was fantastic!
He didn't. He did write the main melody and lyrics of course (i.e. Composer). The Orchestrator is the person that comes up with how each instrument in the orchestra is played , and while sometimes it can be the composer, it was not in this case.
@@tosvus Thank you. I had no idea how this process worked.
@@tosvus does this mean that two orchestrators can make their own versions and it'd still technically be the same song since it would be by the same composer
@@ShmeckleBoy From a licensing/copyright standpoint yes. It would be very similar to a cover of a famous pop song for instance. The people behind the cover version need to have clearance from the original and part of the money they make go to royalties of the original writers.
I can't believe no one burst out laughing when he 'awkwardly' said "cheese" after the epic orchestra introXD
I just listened and the audience did burst out laughing and whistling. Did you mean the orchestra? :)
I was at this show, I bloody loved it so much.
What I love about Tim Minchin is that not only is he an intelligent, articulate guy, and not only that he's funny and witty, but that he's clearly a fantastic musician as well, and you can see that clearly evident in all of his songs, which are all well arranged and written. It's incredible, really.
An orchestra, a jazz band and an artist having so much fun singing about cheese. What the hell have I been doing with my life?
I can't believe the lack of comments about this song helping with their battle against addiction. Replace cheese with you vice, and while not all parts fit, considering that would be impossible, it's a really accurate representation of how addicted people think about it. I love it, I hate it, it makes me feel great, and makes my life bad... I promise to stop after one last taste...
My first few weeks of beeing vegan all sounded, tasted and felt like this song...
the way he sort of stumbles around the stage is just icing on this cheese cake
I love the way he enjoys playing and has so much fun while performing :) like 5:33
This song perfectly describes me, a lactose intolerant cheese lover. Oh dear. . .
I hear you.
Is Tim Minchin like the greatest comedian ever? Because he seems like the greatest comedian ever.
This is basically 10,000 people or so listening to a an Australian singing about his love for cheese with orchestral aid.
This is what I call magic..Cheese? No. Tim Minchin. He waltzes, plays all kinds of instruments, multilingual, a lyrical genius, Comedic astronaut, composer extraordinaire! If love wasn't just a chemical reaction in my brain; I would definitely say "I love him". But since it is, might I ask Tim..Can we just be friends?
This is the song that made me realise I need a career in comedy. Tim and I seem to have very similar ideas about what orchestras are for. Absurdity and self fellation. I showed this video to my mom and her reaction was, "oh dear god it's you."
Good Luck with your career! Hope you do well.
Don't forget about me!
Christian Christiansen
Is that really your name? Cause if so, that is awesome!
JimmyTheWizard7
Yeah it's my name.. T..thanks I guess(?) XD
Good luck! You're gonna be fantastic!
How nice to see a left handed conductor directing the orchestra. As an amateur conductor myself who holds the baton in his left, its a comfort to see.
tim minchin, the only singer who makes crazy songs and lyrics, and no one questions it
Minchin isn't a musician, he's a poet and an entertainer.
oh my god, it's just occoured to me that my life would be over if I became lactose intollerant
When I was a kid I contracted the norovirus and temporarily became lactose intolerant. It was hell. I want to eat cheesecake with ice cream just talking about it.
@@fingerboxes Nah, you can substitute the lactase. I'm allergic to milk protein, that sucks. No pill for that.
My friend just told me "Hey, play some cheese" and I put this on and now he's sobbing
Just cant get enough..... of funky funky CHEESE !!! Absolutely f***ing brilliant ! Its an Homage to Fromage !!!!
He's so adorable xD
Best comedian in the world
This is one talented ginger...respect!!!
A freaking musical genius and a role model to younger musicians and comedians.
I love the guy on the bass as well as the guy on the drums. They´re both grooving their asses off!
"I can't camembert it anymore" I laughed a little too hard at that XD
Love how he has a fan while singing about cheese. What a fucking rockstar!!! If i ever get married this is my first dance.
I was the "Teenager" he dedicated "If You Really Loved Me" to because I screamed "I LOVE YOU!!" hahaha
I'm jealous! :)
Simply the world's best comedy musician.
Man, he can do smoky eyes better than me. Color me jealous.
I’m buzzed, which is like a once in a year occurrence, and I’d like the internet to know I’m using this occasion to jam to “Cheese” in my kitchen. 👍
This man has an entire orchestra and he sings about cheese... *sniff I may cry
❤ he is very attractive❤
HELL YES
He gets off on this - you can tell. It's such an honour to watch someone so passionate about what they do.
I love this! I cried a little. ;)
_Quel une fromage_ .
I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM.
Fuck me, the drummer lucks exactly like Tim o.O
It's his brother, Jim.
+Gilbert Beilschmidt Really?
No, he's call Brad Webb or something, I believe.
Go TIm !!!
Great tune. Now, if only I can remember the lyrics!
It's ok if you forgot the lyrics, they're pretty cheesy...
No comedy song has any business being this damn good musically....... 😳
4:56 best ever reaction, I've seen this countless times and I still find it hilarious
Love, love, love you Tim 😍💖 you look so beautiful in this 😘
Does no one else think he looks like a really happy mouse when he plays the kong keyboard solo? His feet kicking his happy smile ....
Song's been stuck in my head for a month now ...always come back for that one more little sliver
See what happens with the microphone in 4:55, then see the microphone in 5:19.
Tim Minchin is Magical
and then in 5:30 )
if you look at the clip at 5:19, the hands don't match the music
richlia
Probably some glitch with the video and they had to throw in some extra footage.
Gold! :D
@Elektro0Hexe this was such a great night - we were lucky enough to see him when this was being filmed at the Albert Hall and he was AMAZING ... Who else
Could write a Jazz song about cheese but @TimMinchin - pure genius IMO
his fucking drummer clone
So glad I am getting this on DVD...
I gave up dairy as my New Years Resolution so have now adopted this as 'My' song lol
My new fav. Drum along song!!
OMG I love this sooooooooooo much! Tim, you are the greatest entertainer, songwriter and actor of our times!
To those that really matter, if this doesn't matter then you don't matter, today is #NationalCheeseLoversDay! @TimMinchin
It's so brilliant
Beautiful.
the drummer must be a fan of Tim's hair...
I love this man.
I think you are a brilliant musician tim
Sheogorath's theme song.
absolute brilliance.
Cheese really brings out the funk in Tim Minchin
This song speaks to me.
Once you've done Cheesus, nothing else pleasus.
Awww I just love his happy little face during the solo..Bless the lil fella...
4:56 love the extra serendipity with the mic clip and Tim's loving it.
I love him so much with all my little heart. Genious!
Me and a friend got done watching a movie at a mall movie theater. We were in that weird quiet state movie theaters tend to put you in. We weren't our happy go lucky selves. I told my friend to say something random, something to get us back to normal.
"I like cheese!" he yells.
This little kid, next to his mother responds with a shout, "I like cheese too!"
His mother gave us the best "wtf?" look. Needless to say, that moment got us laughing and back to our normal dumb selves.
Best music about cheese EVER
I was about to order Minchin's video and I've read it "contains a seven minute song about cheese". I thought It was a joke! IT'S BRILLIANT!
Tim wow, love this guy
Outrageous! I mean, How dairy.
Good one babe
I can safely say this is the greatest tribute slash love declaration to cheese my ears have ever had the pleasure to experience.
How has it taken me so long to find this gem?
TIM is TIM. IF YOU ARE A FAN YOU WILL KNOW 1
French Chansonier Part killed me.
love him !
So much James Brown here. I love it.
I had had this thing where I thought that, if I had enough will, and enough focus I would equal any one of those things that I cherish and love. Something like: It is a wonderfulness. It has come from human-ness, I am human-ness, therefore I can do wonderfulness too, QED.
And then Tim arrived, and so we refocus, and realign, and a fresh paradigm is resurrected, and the scales fall from our eyes and then the words run out because we're still reeling from Tim...
I just watched several Minchin videos and I am very very impressed. Reminds me of Frank Zappa a little bit, but with only one singer.
@Elektro0Hexe Unfortunately, we can't show you the clever new songs because Tim's still touring them and wants to keep the surprises for those still to see them live, but they do exist, trust me.
Linzy x
👏👏👏
That escalated quickly. Pleasantly surprised.
Chesus Chives, fat was cheesy.
Gouda been feta.
Cheddar than lambert though.
jokes are like farts... if you have to force one, its probably shit.

Dylan Sebastian You're terrible, stupid to try though.
