@@wilfordwarhammer8872 his direction is terrible. all he has superman ever do is look into the distance "meaningfully" and say nothing. His jokes are stupid and he didn't notice affleck and cavil both take the pass out of his jokes in justice League. The "im rich" and "i bought the banks" scenes are so terrible even Cavill's reaction shot is being played sarcastically. The overly dramatic dialogue most of the actors if you actually watch their performance they are literally just stating lines flatly. Every one is incredibly serious and overly dramatic. That not entirely down to how terrible the dialogue is. I know cavil won't have liked acting superman as a psychopath who destroys trucks, talks to hallucinations in top of mountains, AND ACTS SHOCKED TO SEE HIS DEAD DAD. Do you realise that? In that scene where he randomly walks up a mountain and see his dead dad his reaction is surprise.... Meaning he is literally seeing his dad. That's directing. The m that scene would make more sense if he just walked up the mountain, looked of into the distance and started taking to his father, who then appeared and told his story, maybe don't even have Clark look at him or acknowledge him being there, so it's as if he is remembering him and not shocked to be literally seeing him there which makes no sense. That's a major part of Snyder's problem. His movies are almost David lynch levels of surreal but he tries to play it off at just normal m just have a character hallucinate. Just have a dream sequence that's a perfect flash forward if an apocalypse. Have did he spoke to just go into Clarks dreams and control what he sees. Have cyborg visualise the banking system with two giant bronze statue of a bull and a bear attack each other in a barren vista with a giant sunset. He directs across to do things only because they look dramatic. Take the scene where the Amazon's are protecting box and one of them for no reason decides to violently there down her shield, slowly walk over to m to the box and reach out as its aggressively shaking, inching closer and closer with her hand as she's about to touch the bo..... And it stops..... That's him directing a scene to make it dramatic but there's no reason for the m get to do that. Why would she wasn't to touch it? There's no reason. It's not like they set up that maybe that one character can connect to the box and is the one who originally calns the box the first time they get it from dark seid. No. Just an attempt to make a dramatic scene and it is as lazy as the rest of his directing. It's as dumb as the new start Trek movies where stock is violently punching khan in the face repeatedly while yelling. It's that level of dumb, out of touch directing. His store worked dirt one movie. 300. The overly dramatic tone fit perfectly for that movie, but once it m you see his one trick pony act on all his following movies your realise he can't direct across to do anything but speak overly dramatically. And then randomly Barry Allen is the one character that acts differently from all the other characters in theses movies. Even Barry's dramatic scenes that could have been amazing scenes again they are awkward having him running faster than light and reverse time in that amazingly sit scene, and to have him be taking to his dad about the "tippy top" is bizarre. Having him grab that sausage from the air with a cheesy grin on his face, bizarre, having this big dramatic moment of him pushing Diana's sword, only for her to just land on the ground with no bad guys around her and not even need her sword, bizarre choice. Have her be falling and be about to go through a bunch of paradaemons who would grab her if she's unarmed. So she grabs the sword, cuts through them and then his the floor fine. Maybe even have bay reverse time again. He sees her fall, get stabbed by a daemon as her sword hits the floor, so then he runs around the tunnel and reversed it and pushes the sword. There's countless problems with the directing of this m these movies. The way scenes transition is typically just sharing cut to the next scene. Bvs was the first for this just literally cutting from person to person. She with jl, that random cut from a Atlantian torture scene to lois alone at home looking through a box looking sad and then cut back to the rest of the movie.... The guy can't direct a movie when it has multiple plot lines, he just jumped, fish backs, fish forwards, dreams nightmare, man of steel was the quest for randomly cutting back and forth with zero transition. Even in 300 the cuts back to the Queen were awkward but that was minimal enough. These movies he's doing plots from half a dozen comics and trying to do then all at the same time and it's just a rushed mess.
I love this vision of Krypton so much. How similar it is to humanity, everybody bent on power. Even with their planet on the brink of internal collapse, they still fight among eachother. It’s so good, I’d really love to see a prequel
@@jjman533 I mean, it's kinda established that Jor-El pretty much defies all of Krypton's traditions and way of thinking. So it's not so out of the ordinary that he'd learn some combat skills too, instead of sticking to only what the society has raised him to do.
Jman I think it’s the kind of society where everyone starts out with the same education and then combat training before being selected for certain roles
That's why Zod started the civil war, to try and save their race before it went extinct. The government didn't even believe there was a threat and Jor just wanted to save his son and a few other remnants. Zod is the true savior of krypton, or would have been. Were he the ruler.
What I find amazing with the writing in this scene, is that when Jor-El asks the council for the codex he says "There is still hope, I have held that hope in my hands". Before this scene after Kal-El was born Jor-El held him in his hands, later in this scene Jor-El infuses the codex into Kal and later on in the movie when Kal speaks to his father's conscious he tells Kal "The people of Earth are different from us, it's true. But ultimately I believe that's a good thing. They won't necessarily make the same mistakes we did. Not if you guide them, Kal. Not if you give them hope. That's what this symbol means. The symbol of the House of El means hope. Embodied within that hope is the fundamental belief: the potential of every person to be a force for good. That's what you can bring them." The codex also has the genetic makeup of the entire populace of Krypton and Jor-El's quote is fitted perfectly. The underlying theme for this movie is that Superman is the symbol for hope and they absolutely nailed that directive!
But all that talk of hope was just lip service. The film had Clark fly around and help cause a bunch of 9/11s in metropolis and never really prioritized innocent life beyond a montage or 2. Actions will always speak louder than words and that's why Man Of Steel, BvS and the rest of the SnyderVerse under performed. I'm very sad that Henry Cavill and Hans Zimmer's amazing score are being replaced, but in the end, it's for the greater good.

The whole story, Jor-Els acting, the depiction of their family - the brave scientists, how Kal-El was the only Kryptonian natural born Kryptonian child in like, forever; Kryptonian tech, how the Kryptonians are like the Spartans, the fighting choreography, this was epic. Oh yeah, let's not forget the sounds and sound effects. The acting is perfect. One more thing. The image is also great, love the fighting scenes with he ships .

The opening sequence is Epic and Unique. Like that Kryptonian style WB logo, Legendary, Syncopy and DC. That sequence proved this is not just a ordinary superhero film. The VFX used in first 15 mins of Krypton is just criminally underrated. Also the costume design is badass, but nobody have goddamn eyes to notice that. Everyone is just mentally blind. This film should have got more attention but what can we do if everyone is a sinner.
1:40 actually does an amazing job at immediately developing Superman as the true savior of the universe. He would have been if that genius Zack stayed around. The beautiful nature also makes the destruction of the planet extremely tragic
Krypton is the closest thing to a Plato's ideal "republic" we've seen in my humble opinion. That's why when in a flashback of Clark's childhood, when the kids are bullying him, we see young Clark having a book of Plato's Republic.
Amazing movie.. telling the story of a possibly decades long civil war in a few minutes (that’s called story telling through film not literally documenting it) Requires intelligence to follow all the content. This is why I love Snyder films.
Anderson Dalmeus yes.. and that was the start! I like to imagine it took a while.. I like to feel it all symbolically like that... it can’t be literal at least we can agree on that.. it couldn’t have started and been over with in 10 mins.
I grew up with the Christopher Reeve movies...I saw this movie opening night, and Zimmer's music combined with those opening logos had me thinking to myself, "This isn't a reboot. It's a REBIRTH."
The original suerman was brilliant in its own right and more akin to the comic book adaption it seems, This one is more gritty and dark, Both very good movies,
The Krypton sequence is beyond brilliant. The cinematography, the photography, the pace, the soundtrack, the acting are all trully astounding. The sequence in its entirety pushes forward relentlessly, exactly how one would expect a doomsday-story to unfold. Not a single scene is superfluous, not a single line of dialog is without meaning or purpose. It is IMHO the best depiction to date of any alien world, in any sci-fi film I have ever watched and I dare say I have watched quite a few.

this movie is one of the definitions of BEAUTIFUL . .. felt very clean, fresh, ornamental, complex but also simple, comic accurate but also realistic, beautifully majestic
Of all the modern Superhero films, this is by far one of the best. It may not have gotten the praise that some films did in the past, but this was definitely on the same league as Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. The casting, fight sequences, music, and overall message are on point!
The scene towards the end where Krypton becomes a battleground for the elite/soldiers is one of the most iconic scenes in film. Just imagine, somewhere in a distant galaxy, there might be an advanced civilization that could have gone through an event such as this. Fascinating.
“I will honor the man you once were, Zod. Not this monster you have become” obviously I doubt it was planned during the production of this movie that Zod would become Doomsday later on, but it’s still funny how he literally becomes a monster
If Zod symbolized what Superman could have become if he gave into self righteousness, Doomsday is if Supes used his powers for destruction instead of salvation
@@HurricaneGaming509 He is: While I admit that he has some valid points, I say it in the sense that Zod feels his solution is the best and doesn't accept contradictions.

I would have loved Man of Steel to be split into two distinct films. The first film could have been called the “The Final Days of Krypton”. The film would start with Jonathan and Martha Kent finding and raising Kal-El as Clark and him discovering his powers. Then he goes on a journey to learn where he came from like the beginning of Man of Steel where he meets the memory of Jor-El and through there it would tell the full story of the destruction of Krypton and how Kal survived and was brought to earth. The Second film would be “Man of Steel” and focus more on Clark becoming a hero and go on much like the original film with a few more better developed characterization of Clark, Lois and others who have continued in the series today. I would loved to see the film series of the DC universe kick off that way to better develop Superman instead of the rush of what we’ve gotten so far. By the way, I say this as someone who loves Man of Steel and thought they Batman V Superman had some good things going for it but just was in a mess of a film. Just my thoughts after watching this Krypton clip from Man of Steel :)

@@ge2719 yeah no thanks I ain't reading that. Bottom-line, he's a fantastic director. Have a nice day.
I love this vision of Krypton so much. How similar it is to humanity, everybody bent on power. Even with their planet on the brink of internal collapse, they still fight among eachother. It’s so good, I’d really love to see a prequel

I mean, it's kinda established that Jor-El pretty much defies all of Krypton's traditions and way of thinking.

This movie is the definition of underrated. It’s one of the best comic book movies of all time.
@@jackdolinger820 I agree it’s so good
But all that talk of hope was just lip service.

I remember the experiencing of seeing this opening scene in IMAX so vividly and I was in such shock because it actually blew my mind. The production design/world building was....you could just tell that the team nailed the vision of Krypton with such confidence. I don't think people appreciated the tone of this film back then because it lacked that Superman camp we were kind of attuned to for decades. I actually went back to watch it a second time because Hans Zimmer's score was so damn exhilarating. Made you feel high.
