Gamedev insight: flickering textures like that means there's duplicate polygons in those spots snd the engine is trying to display them both at the same time, hence, flickering.
My (albeit limited) Blender experience should have informed this, thank you! What confuses me is...did they reposition the textures/shaders/models or whatever? I swear this wasn't happening until they fixed that one room. Very strange.
@DJPeachCobbler ha it's all good. You get used to that stuff in a Blender environment. Doesn't always go top of mind when you're seeing it happen in a game 😅 It's possible it's a slight texture processing issue with that room, but it's also possible that maybe with whatever update they pushed someone was messing around in that building and accidentally copied a wall or something.

Two days before STALKER 2 released I did a pistol only playthrough of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl on the master difficulty. I did not expect to shot a chimera over 30 times with a shotgun for it to die on the veteran difficulty in STALKER 2. One of the most fascinating things from the original STALKER games is the evolution of game mechanics over all three games. From weapon and armor repair, to the artifact system or even that they made NVG´s actually useful in the later games. Something STALKER 2 could have added on to but they didn´t or only in weird ways. Like rare artifacts with two positive traits, W (I can´t count the unique artifacts because COP already had some). Then lots of artifacts are just reskins with a weight difference, L. Your flashlight which makes enemy´s harder to see in the dark when turned on, especially over longer distances. The weapon blueprint system which just makes upgrades needlessly tedious for minimal gains in comparison to the tool based system. I agree with you that the atmosphere is there sometimes and those are really strong points of the game. There are also new, unique and interesting locations added to the old familiar ones. Then an enemy squad or mutants spawns behind you out of nowhere and there is nothing you could have done to prevent it. The dynamic that roaming NPC`s brought to the previous games was a really essential part in making the world feel alive. That’s probably also the reason they removed the binoculars because you don’t need the ability to spot something that you aren’t going to see coming anyway. The story is ok, it doesn't want to make me replay the game immediately again even if you can get multiple story endings. The Strelok path ending felt very appropriate for the series, even if all the people left in the Zone were practically condemned to die in it. It was also weird in a funny way when I went to the SIRCAA base, met the big bad boss women and spared the guys life just to never see both of them ever again. The most notably characters for me were Faust, Strider and Scar. Everyone else and most of the events were just forgettable. While I think STALKER: Call of Pripyat is the best game in the series, even if it has the “least interesting” story. Its such a well made and [polished] game, it could have easily been the introduction to the series as the first game. You are an outsider who is new to the Zone and your main mission is getting information that a lot of people there already know. There is no great evil or a world to save, you are just doing your own thing like everybody else. I will never forget the guy who shot himself because he killed people for their blood. In conclusion, I think they made some terrible game design decisions and should have taken more time to polish what is there, they have a solid game. Who cares if its delayed longer. I had to restart my game five minutes in on launch because of graphical issues, if it has such obvious problems why release it. Also f every enemy that can stun or throw you to the ground without any recourse and every foot deep water puddle that puts you in a dead halt.
The start of the game is genius. They KNOW game journalists will only play the first 30minutes or so, and make an assessment based off that. They're playing the system like a damn fiddle, and I'm all for it.

Technical problems will be solved in time, for me much worse is that I do not feel the atmosphere of the Zone. Throwing Bloodsuckers at us from the very beginning is not a good move in my opinion, as it is a “cheap” way to appeal to our nostalgia. The Bloodsuckers in STALKER 2 are more annoying than scary, partly due to the fact that this is the first non-human enemy that appears on our path and killing him is the foremost favorable way to complete the prologue.

I hope it comes across that I try to put a lot of effort and thought into the editing as well. I didn't sleep on the 19th. All the same, jobs suck in general and this one is so fun! I promise I'm not complaining lol. I saw that "gameranx", a big youtube channel with 8 million subs, didn't post their review until like 10 hours after mine despite them presumably having a big team which handles different parts of the process independently. On this point specifically, I am bragging. Git gud gameranx. While I think the finished product gets my points across and has some good jokes, I do have a lot of regrets. I completely disagree that this disgrace is "good stalker game" Its a game, not really even good one and more of a mediocre slop if anything like modern FarCry The only thing that makes this a stalker game for the most people is the anomalies and thats about it Seems like you only played the games for the basic story and not the world building itself which made them great The documents with parts of lore that adds to the puzzle that the Zone is which you have to put together are borderline nonexistent A-Life being completely gone or as devs say "malfunctioning"... I dont even have words to describe how much A-Life adds to the world and makes it alive not whatever the fuck this slop is with dead world and random campfires lit with nobody at them or endlessly spawning enemies making clearing areas somewhat pointless Areas being rather distinct from each other is also not a thing, Garbage felt like lesser zone 2.0, Lesser zone itself felt like "We have Cordon at home" moment Rare and dangerous mutants lorewise are now a fodder enemy... I have ran into more bloodsuckers than Boars and Flesh In 49h i spent before my save file corrupted there was not even a single area which made me go "I dont want to go there / i dont want to be here" like Agroprom Tunnels or Brainscorcher did in OG games and i replayed whole OG trilogy this year and still didnt want to go to certain areas even when i knew whats about to happen... Going into derelict lab that potentially had mutants and god knows what more never gave me the same feeling, the atmosphere is just completely gone That dreadful squeaky hazard light in agroprom just lives in my head rent free Scripted events dont even feel natural. You get call for help, haul your bum there and enter a trigger area and get some crap spawned behind you, no suspicious rustling or any types of sound to set the mood that something is off Not a single stalker 2 area was memorable, even the old ones and thats a bad thing Writing is so barebones you cant even feed african child with it, just linear go do X thing. Garbage was brilliant opportunity to apply "Enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of possible twist, but no either you do some silly task or end up killing everyone and still get what you need The grimdark writing is just gone, Stalcraft has better storyline than Stalker 2 slop Im not even going to talk about game breaking bugs after certain point in the story, feels like they didnt test the game up to that point at all I wont even dare to say anything about sorry state of combat as well This is just generic Fallout/Farcry ubisoft/EA/nintendo grade slop with anomalies Hopefully this will be rather easy mod platform for the community to pick up and fix this disgrace

I like when games have unique dialogue interactions like this 3:08 too many games just make npcs a glorified codex for lore. You just ask a bunch of questions of what’s going on in detail and they comply. It’s much more interesting to have a bunch options to talk to someone but rather than letting me exhaust all the options I like it when you can only talk to them a couple times. It makes asking questions more meaningful rather than just listening to someone list out the game’s world building.

Tell that to the guys on the zone's perimeter. It could be I pissed them off with the story decisions I made before I explored that area, though. I think a trader (I forget which one) put it well when he said something along the lines of: "They may not be military, but cash greases their palms all the same." I'm still proceeding through the story, so my mind may change on this, but I fail to see why they added The Ward. Like I said, I sided against them. On later playthroughs I may side with them and learn to appreciate how they're different from the military...if I can stomach that... I remember the beginning of Clear Sky. This is what happens when you build a sequel to a cult classic game series, and instead of focusing on the elements that made the games unique, you decide to make the game as easy and accessible to a western audience as possible. They poured all the money into designing horrible 'console-friendly' UI with no personality, translating all the dialogue into english, and building the game with AAA-tier graphics with no optimization. All of this to appeal to a limited audience of rich western gamers with rtx4090 gpus. Don't get me wrong, I feel sadness and real empathy towards the developers for building the game under extraordinarily hard circumstances, but that won't affect my opinion of the game itself. If we keep praising game devs for making below-average products, It will certainly lead to an echo chamber where they continue making shit games while being under the illusion that everybody loves them.
They kinda didn't have a choice. They openly said to their main audience (russians) to go fuck themselves and die. The only way for a game to not be a financial failure is to appeal to western audiences as much as possible.
Massive input lag, crashes, a whole slew of graphical issues, terrible performance and other various issues prevented me from getting past the third scan point. The game is unfinished, broken and shouldn't have been sold. Along with how shady the devs have been with Steam store page changes and really pushing the sympathy card (we wuz inna war and shiet), I don't really see this as being anything better than it is currently. The game has a 78% review score on the Steam store page and it's completely undeserved due to how utterly broken this alpha test is. People need to have some self-respect and stand up against unfinished and broken games.

As of now the recent 30GB patch fixed hella lot of bugs, infamously shown on Skill Up review. As of now floating NPC and ragdoll reminds me of jank and graphical glitches shadow jittering. UE5 optimization tho. I'm happy with the momentum of patches.
If they don’t do it someone else will
It's rare a game has good enough sound design to make me note it specifically (Dark Souls 1) but the examples you showed were deliciously crunchy

I completely disagree that this disgrace is "good stalker game"
Its a game, not really even good one and more of a mediocre slop if anything like modern FarCry
The only thing that makes this a stalker game for the most people is the anomalies and thats about it
Seems like you only played the games for the basic story and not the world building itself which made them great
The documents with parts of lore that adds to the puzzle that the Zone is which you have to put together are borderline nonexistent
A-Life being completely gone or as devs say "malfunctioning"...
I dont even have words to describe how much A-Life adds to the world and makes it alive not whatever the fuck this slop is with dead world and random campfires lit with nobody at them or endlessly spawning enemies making clearing areas somewhat pointless
Areas being rather distinct from each other is also not a thing, Garbage felt like lesser zone 2.0, Lesser zone itself felt like "We have Cordon at home" moment
Rare and dangerous mutants lorewise are now a fodder enemy... I have ran into more bloodsuckers than Boars and Flesh
In 49h i spent before my save file corrupted there was not even a single area which made me go "I dont want to go there / i dont want to be here" like Agroprom Tunnels or Brainscorcher did in OG games and i replayed whole OG trilogy this year and still didnt want to go to certain areas even when i knew whats about to happen...
Going into derelict lab that potentially had mutants and god knows what more never gave me the same feeling, the atmosphere is just completely gone
That dreadful squeaky hazard light in agroprom just lives in my head rent free
Scripted events dont even feel natural.
You get call for help, haul your bum there and enter a trigger area and get some crap spawned behind you, no suspicious rustling or any types of sound to set the mood that something is off
Not a single stalker 2 area was memorable, even the old ones and thats a bad thing
Writing is so barebones you cant even feed african child with it, just linear go do X thing.
Garbage was brilliant opportunity to apply "Enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of possible twist, but no either you do some silly task or end up killing everyone and still get what you need
The grimdark writing is just gone, Stalcraft has better storyline than Stalker 2 slop
Im not even going to talk about game breaking bugs after certain point in the story, feels like they didnt test the game up to that point at all
I wont even dare to say anything about sorry state of combat as well

I like when games have unique dialogue interactions like this 3:08 too many games just make npcs a glorified codex for lore. You just ask a bunch of questions of what’s going on in detail and they comply. It’s much more interesting to have a bunch options to talk to someone but rather than letting me exhaust all the options I like it when you can only talk to them a couple times. It makes asking questions more meaningful rather than just listening to someone list out the game’s world building.

On later playthroughs I may side with them and learn to appreciate how they're different from the military...if I can stomach that...

Damn dude I just liked the game. I got a review code, naturally, but I didn't pre-order and didn't plan to. I don't know why people pre-order games in this digital age.
It does seem like a lot of outlets had a more unstable experience than me, and THAT is saying something. I just love the atmosphere of these games, so I'm willing to forgive a lot. I have been for awhile lol.
10:19 Chamber-load animation! That's the proper way to get a "combat load" with any fixed-tube gun with side-ejection or top-ejection. If it's a bottom-ejector, you can still do a combat load. It's just a slightly different procedure.
Succinct.
Translating dialogue into English is a strange criticism. Nothing wrong with having a different language.
It really doesn't take much to make a UI, calm down.
They kinda didn't have a choice. They openly said to their main audience (russians) to go fuck themselves and die. The only way for a game to not be a financial failure is to appeal to western audiences as much as possible.
A classic “wait 6 months to buy it” game
Massive input lag, crashes, a whole slew of graphical issues, terrible performance and other various issues prevented me from getting past the third scan point. The game is unfinished, broken and shouldn't have been sold. Along with how shady the devs have been with Steam store page changes and really pushing the sympathy card (we wuz inna war and shiet), I don't really see this as being anything better than it is currently. The game has a 78% review score on the Steam store page and it's completely undeserved due to how utterly broken this alpha test is. People need to have some self-respect and stand up against unfinished and broken games.
Probably wont find a bigger stalker fan than i, but i left a bad review because its broken. Id hope the biggest fans would be the most critical.
When you announced that you would be moving away from video game content I was sad and concerned that we would just get less and less madness from you micro plastics addled brain. But what has become clear is that regardless of the topic when you are passionate about a subject you bring the heat. Thanks for the content man I don’t care what your muse is but please keep huffing it.
It's not glitches or bugs, it's anomalies
Foken 10:29 😂
This stopped being funny the 60th time one of you sheep said it lol
We all knew he was gonna do this review. Can’t believe this team pulled this off in the middle of that war. Like a flower in a dark room..
Stalker gamma still has this by the balls, big time.
Not to sound like “that guy”, but i can’t believe you are at nearly 500k subs. It’s been great seeing your channel grow.

It's very very boring. Just mod the old ones.
Imma be real and say im super disappointed with this entry in the series. It feels like im playing far cry with stalker assets.
You're among the few conscious human left. It's evidently clear that 99% of people nowadays operate under some kind of brainwash from influencers.
Meh... Still nowhere near the mods. Ui is terrible also.
Indeed especially the item icons they feel like they were made by an unpaid intern or purchased off the unreal asset store for $5 a legit step down from the OG stalker 17 years ago.
Just a reminder to play the game with Russian voiceacting on, it’s a completely different game.
Ukrainian, there's no Russian VO
