Once every 6 months or so, bike gets washed and lubed after every 3 rides.

😃So nice to see my exact same bike being serviced! Great video! I also put some dielectric grease on the battery terminal and charger port.

One option instead of putting the bike on the ground to remove the spider would be to use a chainwhip on the front chainring, just like removing a cassette...

As others have stated, A Bosch CX Gen4 equivalent would be welcomed!

    Just a heads up
Screws are J.I.S (Japanese international standard) on Shimano and Yamaha
    Not Philips or pozidrive
It’s worth buying jis screwdrivers you will feel how well they fit the heads and don’t round or want to slip out .

I wash down my ebike once a week. That keeps everything nice and clean. I tear down and clean the entire bike every 3000 miles. No problems at all after 6000 and two years of riding.

You don't need to do this at all. I have a few e bikes. My oldest is a giant explore with 17k miles on the clock. It's 3.6 years old, and i have never gone near the electric motor. It's still running smoothly as silk. Why mess around when there's no need. My other bike is a giant revolt pro e. It has the ep8 motor. I wouldn't mess around with that either.

Hummm... I couldn't be able to remove my chain twice. When I did it in the begining of the process, it didn't come back to be removed again. Awkward... It should be some problem with my bike... lol Great video, thanks !

  • @Roaming50
    @Roaming50 2 роки тому

You don't need to remove the chain to begin, to remove the crank only to put the chain back on. Just skip that first step and then remove the chain after removing the crank.

Corrosion protection and then grease? Grease, especially that much, is already corrosion protection.

I’ve had to hang up my giant E2 the cadence sensor bean broken for over a year only detects a small amount of cadence so hardly any power tried getting it fix . The motor made by Yamaha but the Yamaha sensor causes a error . Bike shops are useless take money off you to say they can’t fix it . They just want to sell a new motor £1000 fitted takes me 30 min £300
and charge full retail £700 for the motor
Had it apart sent away still unfixed .I give up just stick to push bike . In my experience when e bikes are out of warranty it’s ticking costly repaired ahead . Maybe one day I buy a new one .

No, that's not true. To clarify...there are many models you can work on. And some have the brick feature.

This isn’t a motor deep clean is it? It’s a front chain-set deep clean. There’s no evidence that undoing the connections to the motor has any benefit and certainly risks damage, even with the correct tool and some watching this will foolishly try without the tool.
I certainly support the front chain-set deep clean. And removing the grit, dirt and small stones that accumulate near the connections is also worth regular careful effort - beware damaging the threads of the small screws. Undoing the electrical connections when removing the dirt and little stones just because they are right there in front of you is genuinely foolish unless there is evidence there is moisture or water in them or they appear loose for some reason. I’m surprised to see this being recommended here. I also know Shimano / Maddison would definitely not recommend this under these circumstances. The connections are designed to be left alone unless it’s absolutely necessary to tamper with them - perhaps three or four times over the lifetime of the motor and electric harness. The front chain-set should be cleaned much more often.
