I just ordered mine. Glad that you interviewed Leo Qu. I always trust your opinions and got a good feeling about Leo being quite sincere that he will support the unit. Another thing is that he said they will not engage in the "race to the 40w laser market" and plans to stay in the 10W market right where he is. That machine has all required add ons that would otherwise bring the price up near $2,000. BTW - thank you for adding your libraries to the package !!!
You got it Gil! The library will be done next week.
📢 *THE FIRST 50 ARE SOLDOUT!* And so are the models without the enclosure. *HERE IS THE AMAZON RESTOCKING SCHEDULE:* 25 units at the end of February, 35 units at the end of March, 45/week starting the first week of April, 80/week starting first week of May - *ADD THIS TO YOUR AMAZON SHOPPING LIST NOW AND CHECK IT ON THESE DATES!*
Folks who buy this laser will get *and extensive Lightburn Library* that is completely created and tested by *ME!* More than 100 hours and many materials were tested with test grids!
Rich, this was an excellent video!
So far I have loved mine, though now I wish I had the total kit instead of just the base kit. Looking forward to getting that library when you're ready to share it. Working on rigging my exhaust system since this creates so much more smoke than my 4.5w.
@@mattmichalak6229 If you contact Roly in about a week or so, they will be offering it to all of their customers for free Matt.
So is the enclosure really needed, if I will only focus on metal, woods, faux leather? I plan to work out of my office at work that has no windows. Would I still need to wear googles without the enclosure? Trying to decide between the enclosure or without.
I was able to get one of the units before it was sold out. This will be my entry in laser's and seems to have really taken some of the learning curve away. Excited for February 13th to get here!
@@shajhedmarie4120 Absolutely you would need the enclosure! In a closed room you would also need a air scrubber.
I wish I would have found your channel when I first considered a laser 8 months ago! Wasted +$1,000 on xtool… almost dropped to half the price, and had to fight to get a new module replacement before warranty is up! I ordered my LaserMatic as soon as I watched this! Got it today! Thank you Rich!.. your tutorials for light burn and laser knowledge is Superb!❤
Congrats! Good choice!
Guess who went ahead and pulled the trigger? I'm glad I waited for this video..
Thank you rich!!
Hope you enjoy it Rafael! I know you will.
Great review, Rich. That machine is sure built to a high quality. I appreciate the time you put into making these videos. It was great to have the CEO on for the Q&A great job 👍
Much appreciated David; thanks!
That is my dream machine! Simply amazing! Thank you Rich and Leo!
We're raffling them off on my website for the next few months! lahobbyguy.com/lasermatic - You can enter every day!
Keep an eye on the channel and the videos to see when the next raffle starts!
Rich, I went ahead and purchased the laser. Your video was very informative and I love the idea of having the camera, but most all, I welcome the precision that you highlighted. I will be looking forward to getting your test file on all the different materials. Keep up the awesome effort to guide people like me. Many thanks, John von E.
Precision is the key to making professional products John! Congrats!
SOOO glad I came across this video. I have been trying to pick a laser for months... found this one on amazon without the enclosure, found this video, and then today it popped up WITH the enclosure. I immediately ordered it after your video. The price was GREAT! Thanks for the video...
Glad I could help!
This commitment to after hours customer service must be THE market leader in this area.
Their commitment to everything makes them a leader in the industry, especially quality control and customer support Charles.
Hey Rich! Thanks for the great video on the Roly Lasermatic. I just placed an order from your link. I'm currently using a Snapmaker 2 A350 and it is a great machine, but I'm ready to swap up to a dedicated laser and 3D printer. The Roly makes so much sense for my use case. You have essentially taught me Lightburn and it is probably the best $60 I've ever spent. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Yes Sir; thanks!
I just pre-ordered mine using your link. This will be my first ever laser and I am excited (and nausea) at the same time. Your video made the decision for me. Can’t wait until it comes in in April and I can access the library that you so graciously are packing with it. Thank you so much!!!
Awesome! You're going to love it Dianne!
I have been waiting for this to come out. Great video, Mine is now on the way gets here on the 6th. Thanks for all you do for the hobby.
Awesome Steve! You're gonna love it!
This machine looks like it setup to completely eliminate a lot of the "guess" work out of lining up job, I have a 3D Printer so I have been designing "jig" to align things to make lining up things easier. This looks like a great first machine as the design and features are all setup and ready for you, and swapping the roller back and forth looks quick and sample and no need for stand offs as they were designed into the machine.
Yes Don, Leo thought of everything!
Love those linear bearings! This looks like something I would be interested in. I want something that I can depend on for small production work. I can imagine doing print and cut with consistency! That is HUGE.
Shoot me an email...
i watch your vids all the time and im' very impressed with your knowledge. I still learning
Thanks so much Don!
I think I will be leaning towards Roly. I have a Laserpecker 4 which is ok, but limits me on size of projects and their support is awful. They will fix issues, but be prepared to email back and forth for a week or two before you get any resolution. And thats the only way to deal with their support. I was considering Xtools since they offer a pretty large working surface, and I am interested in their new laser screen print piece (I think that will work with any laser), but this and other reviews of Roly put it at the head of the class. Thanks for the review and interview with Leo
The LaserMATIC is top of it's class for sure! No other laser comes close with the design, manufacturing and support. Lots of companies trying to copy it, but they're going for looks instead of quality!
Just received mine two days ago and I agree 100% with all of your statements! A beautiful and accurate machine.
Great to hear Terry!
WoW!I am very impressed!!! XTool just got a good kick in the nuts with their over priced lasers...I know you wanted to say that, and couldn't, so I said it for you...😂...Once again Rich, great video!!!
Well said Gerald! 😊
DANG! That's one FINE looking laser! They're going to rapidly upset the market with all of those great out-of-the-box features and components!
*Just wait Sam!* There are *even more coming!* Plus, a 20W & 40W by the summer! You're on my recommendation list of creators to get a sample for testing buddy!
I enjoy watching both of you guys your videos are great.
They are 100% sold out. If you could, I would like an update when they restock. Your review sold me on those over Ortur and the price point with enclosure and attachment can't beat it. Thank you for the review!!
I'll be posting the Amazon stocking schedule soon in the pinned comment Michael.
Great video Rich! It's nice to see that my prediction of diode lasers becoming much more like CO2 lasers (i.e. enclosed in a "safe" box, better gantry, linear bearings, etc) is coming true - not that it would require much of an industry analyst to predict this. But this laser looks NICE and I believe this is the start of a product shift.
Hey Steve! Yeah, I agree, and the better products that hit the market, the more the crappy ones will go by the wayside. Hey shoot me an email when you get a chance please: thelahobbyguy@gmail.com
Thank you Rich for this review. This is by far the best quality laser I have seen.
Me too Jürgen!
Thant u soo much for your review. I have been wracking my brain over which laser to buy. First time user here and i love the way roly has taken a lot of the guess work out and made thinks precise. Especially the way the roller has a dedicated place to be set. I was wanting a 20w but im hoping this will be an excellent start for me. Thanks again 😊
Glad I could help! If you're wanting a 20W, you'll be able to upgrade the 10W for $449 next month. It will be good to have both modules.
Wish it had a chuck rotary tool. Or do you think they are over rated. Maybe they will create one soon. Just getting too excited to try everything
The 20W will come with a chuck roller.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuyshould I wait for the 20w.
I just received this and the Wireless antennae was broken. I reported it on their support page and Leo offered to send a replacement, I declined since it works and is not interfering with to operation at all. They do respond and offer a 30 minute tech support call if you need it.
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching!
Looks like an awesome product!
Best I've ever seen John!
Excellent laser...can't wait for the review on the new LaserMATIC Mk2 30W coming out.
Well the 20W is on the way, gotta get that one done first!
AWESOME!!! Can't wait to see it.@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
Totally agree. Solid and well designed.
I love mine!
Thank you very much for the overview! I was going back and forth between the Xtool D1 and the Jinsoku LC-50 which has linear rails on both axis. However, when considering the upgrade path (IR and 40w laser heads etc) I decided to order the D1 Pro w/RA2 on a $200 off flash sale. Then I saw your video! I have since canceled my Xtool D1 purchase and waiting for these to be back in stock. This is the laser engraver I've been waiting for!
It happened to me... But my L-50 is now on my living room unopened :( Maybe Amazon can accept it back.
Smart choice Greg! 👍
Got mine today. It is everything you said it was Rich. Very high quality, heavy, amazing laser worth every penny! So glad I follow you. Thanks for all your work and time you put into your videos.
Enjoy it Curtis! This is one awesome machine!
Congrats. Got mine yesterday. Amazing machine.
Yes it is Dave!
I loved this video so much that I bought one! Thanks so much Rich! Great episode.
Very welcome Michael! You're going to love it!
Great looking machine. Thanks for your detailed review, as always!
No problem 👍
I ordered mine today after watching your video.
Hope you like it Cindy; I know you will!
Excellent review. Looking forward to seeing the next new piece of laser engraver/cutter to take poll position 😀. Amazing how the market has changed in the last year or so. I think a lot of the competitors out there should take note of the Roly. A solid enclosure kit would not be too difficult to design for existing laser engravers as an upgrade/accessory; more time and money should be spent on developing something like this than racing for the highest power laser diode.
You hit the nail on the head Dimitrios! The race to the highest power is simply ridiculous.
Thanks Rich, looks like a great machine and I will give it a try.
Awesome!
Hi, Rich! I'm one of the ones that got in on the first batch ... within the first 25! 👍🏽 WooHoo! Thanks! How do I get the Library, once it's complete? I want all of the help that I can get! Thank you, for this, also! And, a thanks to Leo!
I will be sending the Library to Roly once it's complete. They will email it to you.
Looks like they are sold out for now. Glad to see quality being successful!
They are Eric, in under 6 hours! The restocking schedule is in the pinned comment.
Hello all. Rich what a wonderful review. Got mine on order.
Good choice Anthony, congrats!
I wanted to wait and see what their next iteration is, but I guess you convinced to fall for it and order it now. Need to make some room before it gets here
You'll be very happy with it Asad!
Leo’s business acumen is astounding. The heavy input by potential buyers is also all too infrequent these days…proper market and user research. It’s like ‘I wish a laser engraver would have this ****’ and Leo said yes to them all. If I didn’t have a modified beefed up S9 this would be all the boxes ticked for me, but my money is spent :(. Well done with the review Rich.
Well said! Thank you!
Just got mine ordered!!! This looks great!
Awesome! You're going to love it Michael!
Interesting. I clicked on the link to view on Amazon at the beginning of your video and the price was $999 as you stated. Clicked on it at the end of the video and it was $649. After adding it to my cart, it applied a $100 coupon bring the total out-the-door price to $602.53. Not bad. Maybe that's my discount for watching the entire video! 🙂
The one for $649 does not have the enclosure or camera Al. There are two different options.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Good to know. I knew I couldn't have been that lucky!
Any chance they are planning on coming out with a larger frame?
No, not at this time, but the next version will have a removable bottom, so you can use Print & Cut to engrave or cut files at any size.
Are you planning on covering the rotary attachment? I'd really like to know the ins and outs of that attachment.
Thanks for all you do for us.
I did cover the roller in this video, or at least everything you need to know to get started. The owner's manual is very detailed as well.
I might have missed it, are you running Lightburn via wifi or USB cable?
USB. I can also deign in Lightburn and send the file via a web browser.
I really wish I needed (and had he space for) another laser. This is certainly nicer plus has more features than my X-Tool D1 Pro 20 watt.
It's worlds above any other laser on the market Andy.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Wow, they went quick on Amazon. They don't even show up in a search on amazon today (Sunday, Feb 6).
Thanks for the review. I've been waiting for the 20W laser "battle" review to see what I wanted to order. Watched this and showed my wife a few minutes, next thing I knew she went and ordered me one. LOL Well I'll be playing with it next week if shipping is right. Thanks again!
Congrats! The shipping is Amazon, so it should be okay Harold.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy well it was exciting, not so much now. Was supposed to get delivered today. This afternoon wife got update it was never shipped and delivery delayed until February 22.
Lol, absolutely wonderful machine. Try to get one in Canada.
The Mk2 is now available in CA and the EU.
I just caught this video, I had purchased the cheaper version. I just hit the return on amazon a nd purchased this one. Its a great deal at this price. Great review as well detailed and to the point.
Awesome Shawn! Enjoy it; I know you will!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy just got mine in after a usps said it was damaged in shipping. This thing is a tank and a beast. Nothing looks or feels cheap this is one premium piece of gear.
Great video and work I just ordered 1 last night was going to get a bigger one but I liked this all metal complete unit.
Just in time! They're sold out today John!
Looks very nice, 10w is a little low for me now, But too bad this wasn't out a few years ago...
10W is perfect for me! I do mostly engravings.
I received my engraver and it is everything you said it was. One minor defect but does not affect the function or safety. I did my first test burn just to play. Now to start dialing in. I looked on the included usb drive for the libraries but couldn't locate the libraries.
The library is not on the USB yet Mike. I'm still finishing it up. Roly will email it to you when I'm finished.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Excellent. Thanks!
I guess Amazon doesnt sell the All in One unit anymore
Yes they do, but the demand is so high, they keep selling out. This is the base model link: amzn.to/44wV2it but there is only 5 left at this moment, and they have discontinued the open base model. Roly Automation is now selling the enclosure kit on their website. The price of both together is the same as the fully enclosed version. They should be back in stock with the 10W and the 20W fully enclosed units in the next few weeks.
I have the LaserMatic 10 and it is up and running. One problem I am having is I cannot access the camera. I do have it plugged into the USB port, but LightBurn will not access it. What could be causing this issue?
Did you select the camera from the dropdown list on the camera tab Lonny? That's the only I can think of.
Thanks for sharing! They’re unfortunately already sold out but hopefully they will get more back in stock soon!
The restocking schedule is in the pinned comment below the video. They will sell out fast with every new batch until May or so.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thank you! I requested that Amazon notify me when they are back in stock.

Hi Rick a short time ago I subscribed to you channel. Your videos never disappoint. This was an exciting video and announcement. Thanks again for the video.
I am taking your light burn classes. Hoping to get my first Laser engraver on my 75th birthday in march. I was going to get the Jinsoku Lc 1620 now Jinsoku LC 40, I think this is a good choice.👍
This is the best choice you could make as a beginner Mr. Roy!
Thank you Rick I appreciate the answer.
Thanks for the video Rich! I'm sure I will be referencing it because I broke my piggy bank and ordered one! Wish me luck. Should arrive Thursday.
Awesome Dave; you'll love it! And I'll have the library done soon!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Great! Thanks again for the videos you make. Quick question. I noticed the Engraving, 1/8" n 1/4" focus blocks. Are there guidelines for other material thickness or paper?
The guidelines are, you use the top of the block for any engraving, but you focus down 1/2 the thickness of the material to cut Dave. So if you had 5mm wood and you wanted to cut it, you would lower the laser by 2.5mm from the engrave position.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks for the info Rich. Can't wait until I get to play around with it next week. Still can't believe they include a test card with each individual machine.
FYI. I actually sent and got an email back from Leo within a hour. Amazing. Can't tell you how many unanswered emails to X...l there are floating in the internet. I hope he can expand his Customer Service once his laser takes off, which I'm sure it will.
Hello, I just ordered this machine and I wanted to ask you if you know a good smoke extractor for this machine. It will be difficult to extract it outside so I would need some kind of filter extraction. Not too expensive. Any suggestions? I'm very excited to receive this machine in a couple weeks. Thank you.
No, sorry, without spending about $1500, most of them will be useless, except for removing smoke. I'm guessing you mean air scrubber and not smoke extractor. The smoke will be gone with many of them, but the smell will still be overwhelming in a closed environment.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thank you for your response. I've been researching and I see the cheaper ones don't work well at all. I guess I would have to go with a more expensive one. In the mean time, I'll have to put it in a different area for now so that I can vent it to the outside. Thank you so much for your videos. I'm learning a lot before my diode laser arrives.
Nice looking but how do I get it to work?
The same as any other laser.
I WONTED TO ORDER MINE BUT IT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON AMAZON.
This is a high demand item and they are sold out. The factory is transitioning to V2 with more features, and they should be back in stock in the next few weeks.
Great video! New glasses?
I switch back and forth. Just brought a pair of these out from the house.
Sweet!
Yup, I'm loving it!
Me too Steve!
Great video, looks like a great machine. I ordered one just now. Will arrive in mid Feb. I would be willing to pay for the libraries.
Awesome Jeff; you'll love it! I'm going to make the library available to Roly, so they'll probably send you an email with a download when it's ready.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks, I am looking forward to getting started.
Rich it looks like Amazon is sold out, glad I ordeeed mine right after your video.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I have my Lsermatic 10. You were absolutely correct about this machine.
Im trying to preorder mine .. allows the cart placement, but it wont accept my payment so I sent a support request. I will definitely keep trying.
Looking forward to user reviews. My FoxAlien sucks and cant wait to use it as a RV parking stop.
They sold out of 3 months stock after one day Alesha, but they should be in full production in the next 30 days or so.
DO YOU KNOW OF A VIDEO THAT SHOWS HOW TO REMOVE THE BOTTOM OF THE MACHINE TO ACCOMMODATE A LARGER SIZE TUMBLER (40OZ OR LARGER)
There are only a few screws that need to be removed under the honeycomb to remove the bottom plate Kristy.
Its sold out in amazon 😢 I hope they ship to the Philippines
Yes, the demand is too high for the factory to keep up. Plus V2 is in production right now with lots of new improvements. It should be available in about 4 weeks. As far as shipping it to the PI, you would have to contact them directly for a shipping and Customs quote. The Amazon sales is only for the USA. Send an email to support@rolyautomation.com and tell them I sent you!
Thanks for the video. I am still on the fence about buying one of these. I have access to several other lasers (all CO2) at my local makerspace. This would be my first diode laser. My concerns are how to vent fumes out of a home office setup? Second, how loud is this thing? If I were to set up in a home office, there would be bedrooms just on the other side of the wall so noise and fumes are a big concern. Another concern would be what type of desk is best. I am concerned with vibration affecting the operation. I have four CO2 lasers and they are all big, metal, and solid standalone machines yet they still rock back and forth a bit while in use. Should I build a custom, solid desk for this thing? Thanks for all your help as always. My final concern is the lack of a passthrough. I am not used to working this small. It sounds very limiting. Any word from the manufacturer about future models with this features?
A full passthrough will be in the next iteration; the tooling is already done and it's in production waiting for V1 to sell out.. A regular desk and a window vent is all you need. You can make your own with some plywood, a 4" hole in it, and a 4" dryer vent, or you can buy one pre-made at Home Depot for a few bucks. I have it on a folding table. This is nothing like a Co2. It's quiet and stable.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Dude, you rock. Not only do you answer, but you answer in paragraph form. I am new to lasers, but am working to build a strong team at my local Makerspace here in Charlotte NC. If you ever come to Charlotte stop buy and say Hi. Thanks again.
Do you use an exhaust fan system?
This machine has a built in fan.
Hey Rich. I am having trouble connecting my MK2. It connected once, but it looks like it's in com port 4 and when I shut everything off to do other things I wanted to try again, I open lightburn and the MK2 is not connected and I don't see a box in the workspace for devices. Can you help? Greg
You likely just need to pull down the menu on the laser tab and reselect the port Greg. There is a company technician on duty in the Facebook group every day if you need more help: facebook.com/groups/rolyofficial
Rich, I don't have that section to select a laser. In the control window it says waiting for a connection.
If I turn on the MK2 the control window says MK2 started but nothing happens.
I don't use Facebook.
Hey Rich, I finally figured it out. I didn't have the laser window selected. Once I did I found the laser and boom I was connected.
Now I just need to watch more of your videos to see where to start. Greg

Hi Rich - I am looking to get into lasers (am a long time woodworker) are there plans for a LaserMatic 20W coming out? I really like what your review showed on this model but wanted a little more speed as in a 20W

Make due with what you have I guess Marguerite! You'll still have fun creating!
Do you know if they have or working on a higher powered laser? So you can just interchange it.
They are developing a 20W coming in May (or so) and a 40W over the summer. Probably not interchangeable.
Hi Rick great review, do you know if and when Amazon U.K. will be selling the Roly it seems awesome👍
I don't know Derrick, but they have plans to. Probably by the summer.
I bought a OTURO LASERMASTER 3. It's hard to tell which controller it has, so I need to know which version of LIGHTBURN to get? Very poorly documented.
You get the Grbl version Richard. It's for all diode lasers.
hi Rich, Great video. Just received my Roly and trying to get setup. I saw that you did multiple coasters at once. I usually use a template but saw that you didn't, What is the best way to align multiple objects like tiles/coasters on this machine? Thanks
I just used the Lightburn camera for the coasters.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks, I tried that but with the fish eye they did not come out centered., guess I'll make a template
Did you use the same settings I did? It works for me.
Any update on when Roly expects the next batch to be available?
Feb 28 to Mar 6 is the next ship date. Pre-orders are being taken now:

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thank you. Just made my pre order.
Now I’ve got buyers remorse. I got a really great deal on LM3 but I would have paid more for that bad boy!!
I think I have buyers remorse every day Matthew, the technology is changing so quickly. 🤪
Is it compatible with the new ortur rotary chuck?
Got the notice from Amazon that it is out for delivery...fingers crossed.
Exciting news Dave! Have fun! 🎉🎈 Just wait until you see how purdy she is!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Purdy doesn't cover it. I'ts like I have a very functional piece of art in my workshop. Everything you said in the video is true. So much quality and detailed thought went into creating this machine and making it so easy to start in Lightburn via the files on included thumb drive. This is the complete package. I hope that Leo offers the enclosure upgrade in the near future for those who were only able to get the LaserMATIC10 without the enclosure. Thank you again for the heads up video and your commentary.
Awesome! Glad you like it. Don't forget to give it a 5-star review on Amazon and help the company grow!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Will do. Hadn't thought of it.
Can you tell me what the weight of the laser engraver and enclosure is?
No I can't Laszlo. It's all assembled already. The total weight of the entire machine was 52 lbs for shipping.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy No problem, Roly didn't know either and they are checking
Thanks Rich for another thorough video, appreciate all you do, quick question, just ordered my Roly, will I be eligible for your soon to be released library as a New Roly purchaser, if not, I'll will buy it when available. Great interview with owner/engineer of Roly as well. Thanks
Sure Jim, I'm going to make it available to Roly, so they'll probably send you an email with a download when it's ready.
Thanks Rich
Did somebody figure out how to put an 30-40w laser from other brands on this beast?
The 20W will be out by the end of the month, and the 30W will follow shortly thereafter. The 40W is slated for the fall.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thats great news! Thanks keeping my cash on the bank a little bit longer then
You call it all metal or mostly metal... is it aluminum or actual metal? Thanks
Aluminum is metal Russ. You wouldn't want any other metal. It's already 52 lbs.
I saw on Roly's website that a 20W version is planned for April. Do you know if this is accurate and will it have a pass through? Also will you be reviewing the 20W? Thanks, I enjoy all of your videos.
Yes, a 20W in April and the 40W in June. They will be sending me them to test. And yes, the passthrough is in the next iteration Gale.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I got an email from Leo on the 21st.... "Originally we had the 20 watt planned for April, but now it's been pushed back to the end of June, as we are designing the next iteration and wanted to push the 20 watt to that platform"
I got an email from Leo on the 21st.... "Originally we had the 20 watt planned for April, but now it's been pushed back to the end of June, as we are designing the next iteration and wanted to push the 20 watt to that platform"
Rich, would you still stick with the 10w once they come out with the 20w if you consider 10w to be the sweat spot for cutting and engraving?
I do Stephen! I have 4 20W diodes in the shop right now and the LaserMATIC 10 is still my go-to laser because of the precision of the work bed and the cut and engraving precision as well.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Rich, thks for the feedback... Can you comment on your experience with the Roly with the max cut thinkness that you could do in one pass for something typical like baltic birch?
I have the test cuts in the video Stephen.
Rich, once again I need your advice. I have been trying to engrave ten bamboo cutting boards for a customer with my new Roly LaserMatic 10. At the end of each run, the laser goes to the stop position of X200,Y350 so I can retrieve the product. I then place the next board on the bed and click home to get the laser back to x0,y0. I then fire the next engraving. HOWEVER, after two or three burning, the laser to the x200,y350 and will not go to home when clicked. It reads "Busy" instead of "Ready" and the console reports that it is "streaming." Do I contact Roly's staff or Lightburn about this problem? What is "streaming'?
Whenever the laser gets stuck on streaming, I restart my computer and the problem goes away John. I think it's both a memory issue on the computer, and I find this only happens when I issue two commands too quickly in Lightburn, or click two buttons too fast.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks, Rich. As always, you are a tremendous help.
Hey Rich...Awesome video...I ordered because of the video...Question. How did you engrave your 32 oz tumbler? I have a 30oz sitting on the rotary but the bottom of the laser barely clears the tumbler. And the metal piece of the laser actually sits on the of the cup. The focusing tool won't even fit under it. I have the bare bones one if that makes any difference. Also, mine doesn't have the saved positions in it. Did I miss something on the flash drive? Wonder if the heights are different between the two. Can't imagine they would be..Also, can you share you speed/power settings for your tumblers? Thanks
Did you expand the rollers to the widest position? I did a 32oz tumbler in the video with no problems. If you followed my setup in the video, you'll have the saved positions. It's part of the device setup. All tumblers have different coatings, so you have to run a test grid to get the right settings.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Yes sir I did. Went to the devices and imported the lbdev file just like the video. I got no saved positions. my screen didn't show up with the lines like yours did. Also, I've tried every trick in the book and cannot get my tumblers to quit walking on me. Any ideas? I used a level and the board the machine sits on and everything is level.
For those interested if you have the unenclosed Roly, I got this info back from Leo..,
The pre-saved rotary positions rely on the rotary being in a precise and accurate position every time, which is made possible by the presence of a fixed bottom plate on the machine. Without the bottom plate, having the positions saved doesn't add much value. So I guess the unenclosed version doesn't have the settings saved in Lightburn..Still can't figure out why my tumblers keep walking on me though..
Thanks for the info James. My tumbler walked too. I found out the table wasn't level
Can you engrave dice on these machines
Of course Mike.
Theres only one thing that matters to me, is it completely open source or are you relegated to using whatever software they put out?
It is standard opensource Gcode, V1.1f. It's not an xfool.
Nice, I'll get one.
You'll love it!
Would this be a good laser for engraving jewelry pieces? Dog tags?
Absolutely! You saw the stainless pendant I did. And it's even faster than the 1064nm laser that the competition sells!
I need another 6 inches of cable for the camera. Has anyone used an extension USB cable on it?
Better to buy a longer cable Laszlo. Make sure to buy a USB 2.0 cable. If it's more than 3 meters, it has to be an active USB 2.0.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks!
Would this laser be able to engrave slate?
It does a wonderful job on slate!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy awesome, thank you for letting me know.
