- Here is my gaming test and performance of the Xbox Series X on the LG 27GL850 IPS Monitor. I play multiple popular game titles at 1440p resolution and 120 fps. For 4K games, it will only be at 60 fps. Some games will require it to be at 1080p for 120hz to work.
Games in this video:
Fortnite
Call of Duty: Cold War
Call of Duty: Warzone
Gears 5
PUBG
Rocket League
Monitor Settings:
Vivid Mode with Brightness at 85.
Turn off Adaptive-Sync for 1440p at 120hz to work
With Adaptive-Sync on, it will change to 1080p at 120hz

I’m actually glad I got to see this monitor in action. The GN850-B is actually one of the best 1440p 144hz monitors on the market and it’s so nice to see that modern consoles can take full advantage of this tier of panel. Enjoyed the video, it was an interesting watch😄
I just don’t know the difference between the gn860 and the gl850.
I bought the gl and I love it.
Omg I’ve been trying to figure this out since I got my series x man thanks so much!

Man 4K60 is already perfect for me. I just wish it were possible to patch the PS5 to accept Native 1440p.
It doesn’t support 1440p? Tf
You can set it to automatic resolution at 4K, the monitor will downscale it to 1440p and run at 120hz
But it’s not native 1440p unfortunately
@@uliloves4929 isn’t it just upscaled 1080 p? I have 1440p monitor I’m getting the series x
@@thedonplayz9401 I’m sure it is on the ps5 since there’s only 2 resolution settings, 2160 and 1080. But on the series x you can display native 1440p 120hz
@1:42 that is not strange. You have your Xbox set to allow 4k and allow HDR. PUBG is in HDR so when you start PUBG, it'll kick in HDR which defaults to 60Hz because your monitor is HDMI 2.0. PUBG is capped at 60fps so it's better to play PUBG with HDR. If you want to play a game on the Series X/S that supports 120fps and you have an HDMI 2.0 monitor, best thing to do is just uncheck allow 4k and HDR then start the game. For games that are capped at 60fps and are in HDR/auto HDR, keep 4k and HDR checked.
Also, the reason why your monitor will accept a 4k signal is because of HDR. Many devices, like the Xbox, will only dish out HDR with 4k.
This monitor has HDR?
@@NoName-hj5hg not true HDR
A solution that worked for me with my LG monitor. Go to tv & display settings>video fidelity & overscan> overrides > select hdmi. Go back to tv & display settings you should see resolutions and refresh rate that you can select. It will look really bad at first when you select hdmi don’t worry. Hope this helps
yea but still i can just do 1080p 120fps or 1440p 60fps
I’m looking at buying this monitor. I currently have a LG Ultragear and it has terrible color banding. Do you have any issues with that on this monitor?
How did you get your frame counter on your screen. Is the monitor or the x box????
Help ! What’s the best picture settings for this monitor with a series x ?
Will the GN850 still be as good as this and work with the new consoles like this?
Hi when you said pubg was strange, how it changed back to 120hz...I noticed, if you watch back its because when it was at 60hz you had HDR on ....I have this moniter and it won't do 120 hz until you turn hdr off
What's even offer is the GL850 shouldn't have HDR at all on the Xbox. You can't have HDR on unless you have allow 4k enabled which I don't understand why you would want 4k if you bought a 1440p monitor
@@clawson32104 I thought 4K is better than 1440p?
@@scotmash1 if you prefer graphics over performance then 4k is better. Which is why most competitive games still use 1080p for the 240hz or now 360hz available. You can count the 4k 144hz monitors prior to CES 2021 on one hand. Even then none of those prior to the newly announced models have HDMI 2.1 to even display the 4k signal at 144hz. I just feel 1440p 144hz is the current sweet spot for graphics and performance

That's not native 4k. It's still 2k reso trying to show 4k but not real 4k.

I have the same monitor and the series s, but I have some problem of brightnes and coloring. I am using the Xbox hdmi cable, it is possible that the cable is not able to support the high quality of images?
If I understand this correctly 4K downscale 2K is not 1:1 ratio.. so does the game look wierd when it's downscale (compared to native 2K) ?
PUBG has no 120fps mode on consoles so why you bother playing with 120hz?
Hz and fps are not the same. Hz means potency of monitor/tv to show up to 120frames per second but PUBG is locked at 60 on Series X you cant have 120fps on Series X.
What are the effects if turning free sync off to get 120hz. E.g. Is motion blur a problem?
I have a monitor and series x. Does the speakers go into the monitor or the series x sorry I'm new just bought it

Will the LG 24GN50W work on my Xbox series s?
Would it be possible to play at 120Hz if you use an HDMI to Display Port converter (with the same monitor you have) ?. I've seen that "Xbox Series X" would allow it if your monitor is able, and Display Port 1.4 (this LG Monitor got it) is capable of that.
Wbere you able to?
with the 27GL850 how did you get 1440p 120hz on PS5? I thought ps5 will only get 1080p in performance mode

Works HDR with 1440P on your Xbox without problems?
Can the xbox series x support 1080p 144hz, considering that the xbox series x has a OEM RX6800?
Did you use HDMI 2.0 (LG 27GL850 has HDMI 2.0) cable to connect XBOX Series X with LG 27GL850, to get 1440p@120Hz? I think this monitor can only go upto 100Hz at 1440p with HDMI 2.0. To get 1440p@144Hz/120Hz, we need to use the display port on the monitor. And there is no display port output on the XBOX Series X.
So basically, how did you connect the monitor and the console to get 1440p@120Hz?
I can't speak for him but I have the same monitor and achieved 1440p@120Hz when turning off FreeSync Premium. The monitor itself isn't the problem at least I don't think, it's the fact that xbox hasn't put out a software update yet to support non standard vesa frequency timings. Natively you should be able to game on this monitor 1440p@120Hz with free sync enabled when you hook this puppy up to an xbox series s or x, as opposingly; you can game upwards 144hz@1440p on pc using an hdmi 2.0 cable. It's totally bogus imo that they haven't yet released this simple fix.
Can the led work when gaming like can you have it on all the time whilst you game
Warzone doesn't run at 120fps on my X. I can turn on the 120hz mode, but it stutters so much it's unplayable inside buildings and especially in the Gulag. Outside it's so good though, so hopefully they fix it soon. You don't have this? I play on a Dell s2721dgf.

Hi, yes I eventually managed to fix it. Normally when I want to run 120 on my Xbox I change the setting to hdmi and it will let me see my hz however I changed it to auto and it still gave me the option to change my hz which was unusual. Does putting freesync off gives any problems like tearing (got same monitor)?
Yes, this monitor does tear at 1440p 120Hz on HDMI with freesync off !!,
It depends on the game. I play with free sync off on destiny 2 and Cold War but the frame rates are stable enough to where you don’t see tearing or need adaptive sync. Warzone however has tearing and I always play at 1080p with adaptive sync for a stable 105-120 fps.

@@woopslynx I can do 4k - HRD 10, it looks beautiful, the problem is I cant do that and 120hz at the same time. 120fps needs to be at 1080, on my monitor anyways. Both my monitor and my series x can power both the options alone, its a compatibility issue.
@@shockwave2523 so you’re complaining about not being able to have 4K hdr10 and 120hz/FPS like bruh
I have the same Xbox series x and that same monitor and it won't let me put 1440p at 120 fps when I try to put it, the console rejects it, help me know why, please, what do I need?
Turn off adaptic syng and make sure tour monitor has hdmi 2.0
Did @alexander suggestion work?
Cons to apaptive sync off ?
Why can't I find adaptive sync ? Only free sync.
Bro I have the same monitor but I cannot get 120hz at 1440p. Everytime I change it to 1440p it tells me the resolution doesn't support it and throws it back to 60hz unless I go 1080. What am I doing wrong?
Did you fix it?
@@greatkhan196 Yes. Turned off free sync. It didnt work straight away but the monitor is now running at 1440 at 120.
@@Shane44 so with freesync doesnt work? Im planning to buy the GP version of this. Thx for your answer.
I figured it out. On My monitor it says freesync. I switched it off and it worked.
You can do 4k with 120 hz on this monitor?
@@danielsimchuk7562 you can do 2k at 120hz and I believe you can do 4k and 60 hz. But that’s on console I’m not sure about pc.
@@Los714 so 2k works with ps5 on this monitor?
@@danielsimchuk7562 yes it should
My god, ILY rn
Thanks I kept wondering why the xbox would auto switch to1080 120hrz great monitor though
Does it support HDR on Xbox series x at 1440p @ 120Hz?
No, only in 4k. Its a xbox problem.
@@giants94aa its wrong info man this monitor suport 1080p 120 1440p 120 4k 60 (but its upscaling) in xbox series x
You were switched back to 60hz from 120hz because of HDR, that game was running HDR and with HDR on it run only 60Hz
can you do a set up video
I am wondering with this monitor can I hear the game without a headset with my Xbox series s.great vid btw
You’ll need speakers
I don't think g sync is compatible with the x box
120hz in ur monitor is a glitch because pubg for now doesn't support 120hz
Another good monitor with similar specs is the pixio px 277 prime.
