When i had my DD2, i got the original V2.5 formula wheel with the APMs. When i switched to my SC2 Pro, i kept the wheel and did a USB conversion. This is still my go to formula wheel.
Fanatec has completely fell off. I ordered the McLaren wheel from them 2 months ago, it took about 3 weeks to ship to the US and it came broken. I contacted fanatec customer support and sent the wheel back about 3 weeks ago. FedEx has said it arrived in their workshop in California but fanatec support has said they have not gotten the wheel yet. I’ve been emailing them since but there has been no response. At this point I just want my money back.
@@WillHughesTV i know this was a while ago, but how did you find out when yours was supposed to ship? how long did you wait from the confirmation email to the shipping email?
I know this is an old comment but recently I’ve ordered the CSL Elite V2 pedals and then the new QR2 system about a week later and both arrived within 3-4 days which was a a day or two quicker than they originally estimated. The only “issue” I’ve had is when I ordered my CSL DD when it was on back order and they took about 2 months to announce when the new stock would be shipped but once they announced it I actually got mine a week before they were even supposed to ship. I’m not denying others problems they’ve had with fanatec but I’m just surprised haven’t had any majors issues. I will say my CSL DD came in with a weird rattle when I shook it and recently took it apart a discovered a small part of a magnetic ring had broken off but couldn’t see from where it was from and it doesn’t seem to hamper the devices performance so didn’t bother sending it back.
Everybody says that it's compatible with XBOX... but no one talks about its VERY LIMITED compatability with XBOX, meaning that most of the buttons and the rev strip do NOT work when the rim is connected to a console. If you want all the functionality to be there, you have to use it with a PC... so, take that into consideration before buying this wheel because it is "XBOX compatible" 😉
9:12 exactly that is your issue, you should NOT run all the latest firmware atm as the latest firmware is heavily bugged where the steering wheel connection just Freezes after some short time of driving. This can also happen with older firmware but the latest one increased the likeliness of the issue dramatically. This issue will be fixed with upcoming driver 457 next month.
My take after running with this wheel for a bit (and having stopped). Button placement is excellent. The grips feel nice but over extended use I was getting calluses on my thumbs (even with gloves) and sore thumb joints (the main reason I stopped using it). I have fairly large hands and broad shoulders so I wish it came in a 300mm wide size. I agree the thumb encoders are too light and are too easy to bump so I solved that by placing O-rings over there to add friction between the encoder and the wheel. I had no issues with the shift lights (in GT7 on PS5) so that may be an issue with PC drivers, however I would say they are not right enough so usefulness is questionable anyway. I'm keeping the wheel and will use for formula racing but for GT (which I do most off) I shifted to the ClubSport 330 rim. That is not perfect either as I wish it had better button placement and the toggles from the 2.5X.
I don't know if its just some pieces, but I have found my self in same situation as OC, when the whole display and leds would freeze and stop working...I have contacted Fanatec regarding that, they said that wheel is fine, but then I wrote them back that it doesn't work but still no response.
Got this through the BF fiasco for my GT DD Pro, like it for ACC…only wish the thumb encoders were slightly tighter and that the left thumb stick could be bound to camera on PS5 race games
couple of late inputs 1. the thumb encoders aren't supposed to be precise, they were specifically designed to give a quick +/- single detent with a quick thumb flick, maybe not what people wanted or expected, but was designed that way on purpose 2. if you want a larger wheel but don't want the mclaren version (it's bigger but has fewer buttons); look into pineapple grips, they have a mod kit that will make this wheel bigger 3. if you want different grips - either leather or rubber, also look at pineapple grips 4. simracing machines has mod kits if you want to move to usb connectors for different direct drive bases 5. for the money, you get a lot of buttons, it's not premium - I'm keeping mine but upgrading to a different direct drive base 6. the buttons are solid clicks and fanatec has button covers to customize the symbols and colors
Ive been using the wheel for over a year. You can change it from kph to mph in the fanalab app settings and my lights/interface has never cut out but I have the formula v2.5 not the 2.5 X if that makes a difference
8:10 I have no idea WHY you'd have the speed on the screen. I always have mine (the regular black and white V2.5 with leather grips) set to constantly show current gear and then what position I'm in when I lose or gain a position and what lap I'm on when I cross the start/finish line. I will say, the only thing this wheel is missing is a 4 or 6 inch LCD/LED SimHub-compatible screen like all the competitors have. Hell, even Thrustmaster has a wheel with a big screen.
I have the 2.5 non x, and I find it looks better with the white color over the red but that wheel does feel great and solid and especially since it has the leather grips, and mine shows the speed in MPH, not sure why yours can't
The Xbox button cap as well as all the other button caps are removable. An included pack of additional button caps are also included if you want to further customize it - this is something I forgot to go over in the review, sorry!
Bought a used one for a steal with APM back in January, unfortunately the grips came a bit used but other than that its an amazing wheel. I didnt have freeze issues since the last update (sometimes you need to click the button left to the mini screen twice tho for it to go on). Probably the best formula wheel in it’s price range
For the bargain I just got, it was 100% worth it! 🙌🏻🔥 I just picked up a deal on marketplace today for this wheel, the GT DD Pro hub incl 8Nm booster kit, pedals and the upgraded club sport magnetic paddles for the equivalent of $1300 (or R23500 here in SA 🇿🇦) ...a MASSIVE jump from my previous T300RS GT 😱 It's SO good!
Having the Formula V2.5 version for my Ps5. My only wheel due to only play F1 titles, ACC and GT7, but would love same wheel but with a Telemetry display like Moza has...time will tell..
honestly i do like mine, however it does start to slightly cramp my hands after a while and at the price point there should 100% be two clutch paddles included especially when you compare it to the cheaper moza wheel and sim magic neo
So there are a couple of things that OC didn't mention about this wheel that I'm going to list down here and hopefully some of you see. 1. If you DON'T need the Xbox compatibility, Fanatec also has the Formula V2.5. It is the EXACT same wheel minus the Xbox chip and the alcantera handles. The V2.5 has leather/leather-like grips and not only does it feel fantastic, but the longevity is really solid. I've had mine for almost 2 years and the handles remain flawless to this day. 2. As some in the comments pointed out, the buggy nature of OC's wheel display and lights are due to him using the latest firmware. I haven't updated mine at the time of this comment and my lights and display are still working perfectly fine. 3. The KPH and MPH setting is a GAME SPECIFIC SETTING. You can switch it to display MPH within the settings of the game you are playing, not through Fanalabs. There are a lot I do agree with OC about this review. The fact they're still pairing it with the QR1 and then having to buy a QR2 on top is stupid and those thumb encoders are pretty light in feel, but aside from that, please take into consideration of what I wrote.
For your 3rd point that's wrong. When you use FanaLab then the Display setting has to be changed in the FanaLab settings, NOT in the game settings. Changing in game would NOT affect the Display when using FanaLab when you have properly disabled the native LED and Display support!
@@momorious I know that in the F1 games, changing between KPH and MPH does affect the display on the wheel. Same with GT. Haven’t played ACC or AC in a while so maybe I’m wrong for those games, but there are others where the display can change between the two measurementsz
@@JK.Productions well then you do NOT use FanaLab correctly and the native LED and Display support is interfering with the FanaLab settings which is very bad.
@@momorious like I stated, I’ve owned and used this wheel for nearly 2 years, operated it exactly like this, and never had a issue whatsoever so it’s probably a case of “your mileage may vary”
@@JK.Productions I work for Fanatec and I develop FanaLab. I know exactly how this Software works and when changing a in game setting changes the Display when you use FanaLab then you did not clicked the two green buttons in the game profile Tab in Fanalab to Enable Telemetry and Enable Fanalab support to disable native game support so the game support is still in control and FanaLab is not working correctly.
Pretty sure it still doesn’t, been looking to get this but that alone will hold me back lol. Other then this video latest thing was a post on Reddit two months ago claiming it still doesn’t work on Xbox sadly ):
some of people don't know that, You don't need to precise just one click.. about thump rotary switch . it's only need one action... mean when you rotary switch, 2 or more click at once, wheel only switch One click!. not 2 or more... one up ? just rotary it one action(don't need to precise to Just one click) but, if you slower turn switch, it will turn one by one.. try it.. if you have this wheel. I also like vibrates motor on both handle give more feeling.
@Michelsen77 Thank you. I'm practicing with the GT DD Pro now. It's my first steering wheel. It was delivered this morning, and I'm setting it up for my comfort level as we chat.
The new F1 wheel (2024) doesnt have the rumble grip motors anymore in the grip, probably due to Full Force replace the effect, but, I am on Ps5 and never had the rumble grip motors working, so probably only on Pc? Oscar, you have Ps5 and Pc? Are you able to confirm if it works on Ps5?
I have this wheel with the apm. The fact that it is light, rigid (literally a carbon fiber plate) and small will make you faster compared to a 300mm wheel. Thumb encoders are too weak and can be annoying at times. Those nipple switches are the cheapest thing ever and are literally useless!. Grips are weird and not very ergonomic however I used a tennis overgrip tape over the alcantara and it completely transformed the wheel for the better + it protects the alcantara too.
Hi OCRacing!! r u able to make a vid on the moza KS gt? I have been dying to get one but wanted to wait for one of your reviews since they are so in depth and good. Thanks!!!!

i am currently building my own Pokornyi Engeneering Hyp R Wheel and I was wondering if you could do a review on those diy wheels since they still offer the best bang for buck?
I got the wheel i love it , great on the F1 games , but when i do a bit of retro gaming, the leds dont work on F1 2016 which is a bit disappointing , obviusly the wheel was not out then , so their are no drivers for the leds .
I just got the GT DD Extreme. I want to get the ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5. But I’m trying make sure it’s compatible and if needed which QR I need to get. My research aren’t giving me straight answers. Would you or anyone know if it’s compatible?
Used this wheel for a proper 3 years [with gloves] . Never had any issues with it and still using it to this day dont plan on upgrading either. Would I buy it again now, yes. Because my experience has been solid with it. Should you buy it? If you're in the fanatec ecosystem.. and want something absolutely solid with everything that Fanatec has to offer right ''now'' i'd say yes.
they also made me wait 4 months for it despite being one of the higher order numbers for black friday lol. wish they just let us BF order people switch it for the 2.5 though, it looks much better and doesnt have the alcantara
Lotta accessory companies get slammed during black friday. Problem is they never say anything cus it would lose them money so they just get further and further behind. Ordered a controller from a company called battlebeaver in beginning of jan still aint here
Hmm - all products in general or wheels in specific? Ultimately, both are really good. Performance wise I find the new clubsport DD’s to feel a bit more refined in the FFB and they also have a much wider ecosystem of gear. However, Asetek tends to have better availability and support something which can be very important. So it comes down to $ and what you feel best with spending. They both are very good though and I doubt you’ll regret going with either one of them.
They need to make a PODIUM F1 wheel in the vein of the Leoxz sport. I compare the two of my wheels and smh at the plastic vs aluminum build of my Leoxz
iim interest with this wheel but i feel like I should wait for v3 if they ever release it. about the qr situation they did drop price of the wheel when they released qr2
I ordered this wheel 2 months ago, and it has not even shipped yet. Fanatec better get their sh** together or im finding alternatives when I upgrade my setup which will be soon.
I've had this wheel since it came out and want to love it, but it's just stupidly small. There's no need to go smaller than 280mm. It makes what should be a nice wheel feel like a toy.
But I'm FINE as I am with my Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Italia and the Thrustmaster Sparco r383 rally racing wheel. I'm gonna just stay😊 CONTENT 😊and settle for what I've got.
I'll probably grab the the PC only version, as my only console is a Nintendo Switch, LOL. The RPM and LCD freeze, for me, is a minor issue, as I rarely use them in race. I just need to prepare my wallet, as I still need to upgrade my CSL DD to the QR2, and I'll need 2 wheel side QR. I do understand that for GT racing, this is not ideal but, the McLaren GT3 is butt ugly and has less functionally, although I'll probably gonna use half of the Formula's buttons anyway.
This wheel is very dated now.only 2 of the rotary encoders are usable and the thumb encoders are too light to actually use. The wheel is miniture and the alcantara sucks to maintain
Good review (best B-roll in the sim racing UA-cam game). But Fanatec keeps doing anti-consumer things like forcing you into their ecosystem, their add-ons, and their antiquated QR systems. This steered me away from them. Plus their whole Black Friday fiasco makes it hard to trust Fanatec.
@@Max__apex Cannot confirm. Maybe I am lucky, but I'm using their stuff since years and I haven't experienced a single problem. I think they grew to fast and didn't pick up enough manpower to fulfil all that demand

Also this past week aline everyone ordering is getting all of there stuff. I tested myself had my stuff to me the dd+ etc within 2 days paying for overnight. Check out the pineapple grips wide wheel kit for this.
A very small rubber band kinda fixes the thumb encoders. 🤓
I just got the GT DD Extreme. I want to get the ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5. But I’m trying make sure it’s compatible and if needed which QR I need to get. My research aren’t giving me straight answers.
Would you or anyone know if it’s compatible?
Fanatec knows that mph is the wrong unit, good job 👍🏻
Ordered a controller from a company called battlebeaver in beginning of jan still aint here
Are Fanatec good and worth it because I heard their customer service is rubbish
When will they incorporate the QR2 got dangit?! It’s F1 season, come on Fanatec! 🤞🏼
if they could release something to compete against the MOZA KS and Simagic NEO at 290mm would be perfect at a similar price point
Oh, it shows how to drive and everything to learning to know to do with steering wheel and Good/ steering wheel video
Can you make a comparaison between fanatec and Asetek products ?
Or answer to my comment please. I would like to buy one of them
Hmm - all products in general or wheels in specific? Ultimately, both are really good. Performance wise I find the new clubsport DD’s to feel a bit more refined in the FFB and they also have a much wider ecosystem of gear. However, Asetek tends to have better availability and support something which can be very important. So it comes down to $ and what you feel best with spending. They both are very good though and I doubt you’ll regret going with either one of them.
@@OCRacing Thank you so much
They need to make a PODIUM F1 wheel in the vein of the Leoxz sport. I compare the two of my wheels and smh at the plastic vs aluminum build of my Leoxz
100% agree
it is one of fanatec's best looking rim i think
this is one of the best looking comments in this comment section
What he is saying it is shit and don’t buy it.
Simagic gr Neo.
This is the one I want Oscar😊🙋👍
How’re you doing after the surgery?
@@OCRacing I'm doing good thank you, the surgery did not work.🤕 two more to go🥺🙋
@@edcadlick2650aw, sad to hear it didn’t quite work. Best of luck with those to come 🤞
So you’re telling me you get the aluminum QR2, Xbox AND PS5 compatibility, and all for $350?! That’s a really good value strangely enough.
iim interest with this wheel but i feel like I should wait for v3 if they ever release it. about the qr situation they did drop price of the wheel when they released qr2
I haven't heard anything about a V3 so my intuition says you'll have to keep on waiting 😪
I really like it, although its the price of the dd wheel base
Another great review, might have to cop it
Thanks for watching! Yeah, this wheel will certainly match your profile picture ;)
@@OCRacing haha yea lol
@@OCRacing also I bet they are working on a firmware fix for the light and maybe even the center switch right now.
I don't recommend it. I bought it on Black Friday and I'm still waiting for it to arrive.
That's aweful. 😮
what chould you get instead?
mclaren gt3 v2
I ordered this wheel 2 months ago, and it has not even shipped yet. Fanatec better get their sh** together or im finding alternatives when I upgrade my setup which will be soon.
Really isn’t it the only f1 wheel fanatec makes ?
this whas very helpful thank you
Whats the best wheel for the f1 23 game?
Depends, what wheelbase are you using?
@@OCRacing dont have one yet, want to know the best non-Alcantara f1 style wheel and wheel base that doesnt cost me over £1k total
I like it but instead I bought the f1 cheaper one lol good vid oc!
Hey I made a review on that too! :)
@@OCRacing I remember that!
Fanatec is so behind. Save money and get a better wheel like a simagic gt neo. About halfthe price and same or better features.
however, console problems
Video idea to hurt you physically....... Assetto Corsa with 100% ffb 🤣
me looking at this seeing that the price is equivelant to 67 big macs🥺
Fuckin scamatec still waiting for this wheel ordered on black Friday
NileRed if he reviewed sim gear
but still no led push button light,....
i checked your website and it said the moza r9 + ks wheel was like 650 usd but its 730 eur
Deal must’ve expired
@@OCRacing damn rip idk what to get like i want the moza ks but that and the r5 is alot more expensive than the csl dd and the gt3 wheel
Video 2 of asking for a dd wheel
Its narly the same since 2017
Whish there was a better version of the mclaren
give me a moza r9
if you agree

inb4 100k. soon!!
Fingers crossed 😭
Avoid Fanatec please.
Why?
Quality is rubbish and materials inside the bases and wheels is plastic and stuff breaks and
Fanatec customer service when u will need it is crap
@@Max__apex Cannot confirm. Maybe I am lucky, but I'm using their stuff since years and I haven't experienced a single problem. I think they grew to fast and didn't pick up enough manpower to fulfil all that demand
SIMAIC GT NEO …..
I’ve given u enlightenment.
If you can get one. Wanna get a GT NEO and an emulator to put it on my DD+, but it's sold out all the time.
Love the Fanatec 2.5, though. They should make something in a similar price range with GT dimensions
23 seconds 0 views, oc racing really fell off
What will I ever do 😭😭😭
Claim your early ticket here ( day one of asking for a free gear)
Day 1 of asking for Ferrari 458 italia
@@OCRacingthink we all are asking for that
@@OCRacing not 488?
Lil bro actually begging for "free gear" in the comments 💀
@@ar_x7 if you watched all his vids I been commenting since 4 months saying only claim your early ticket here
Unsubscribe for me. Need to talk about how Fanatec is treating customers
No everyone has and fanatec is taking care of it. There lenders asked for Jack to be fired so they can still get money. So guess what? He's fired now so yes they are listening!
Also this past week aline everyone ordering is getting all of there stuff. I tested myself had my stuff to me the dd+ etc within 2 days paying for overnight. Other people did normal shipping and have gotten there orders within 5 days. The Texas warehouse is finslly up and running and anybody placing new in stock orders will get there items. Just saying.
Haven’t got my order, ordered on Black Friday 👍
@@finbob4589You are stuck in the california queeu you need to cancel and re order now that they are in texas. Ive talked to at least 200 people who have done this and all gotten theres within a week after. So keep me iodated. Just make sure to huy things only in stock. Not even 1 part can be pre ordered on the list. Issue is you wont get the deal you got black friday
@@finbob4589ordered my dd+ and mclaren gr3 rim this week got it in 48hours after ordering paid for overnight shipping but still.
I just commented before I saw your comment. I ordered this exact wheel 2 months ago, and it hasn't even shipped yet. I've tried to contact them 3 times and haven't heard a thing. I'm looking to upgrade my whole setup in a year or so, if they don't get their shit together I'm finding an alternative company. I'm not giving $4k plus to a company that doesn't care about me
pin pls
Hmm, I’ll have to think about it
damn 0 views you really fell off
Devastated.
Really isn’t it the only f1 wheel fanatec makes ?
Did you comment this three times? lmao
