Just got a Frost River Mini for myself and can't wait to get it out and age it. I love that you use natural materials whenever you can. Thanks for the videos!
Nagualero, I love this video and it's almost like you were performing magic...pulling rabbits out of a small hat. I'm amazed just how much gear you packed into your pack and not just small kits but bulky ones, one after another. I would estimate that your total backpack weight was about 50lbs. I am not an ultralight backpacker but I do try to keep it as tight and light as possible. At 70 weight is a big factor for me on long hikes. My pack for this weekend with food and water for 3 days weighs in at 27.96lbs. I really like your pack, too. It seems that the more used and abused a pack like yours it gets nicer looking, just like your bushcraft belt. I would love to camp with you and learn from your vast and seasoned experience.
You've given me some great ideas. Thanks very much. I'm having difficulty getting followers on my channel, but I'm doing it for the fun of it, and your videos always inspire me for that very reason. The joy is in the journey.
Thanks I loved the moss covered ground. I am from New York USA. I love the outdoors and I practice Bushcraft. I subscribed because it's nice to see what others do.
Hi Nagualero. Great set up. Very similar to mine. One thing I do is I have my wool blanket (with a tarp round it to keep it dry) in bed roll straps to the bottom of the FR pack , I pass my equipment belt through the bedroll straps and it makes a great waist belt arrangement. Without the belt arrangement moving some of the weight to my hips it is too heavy for more than a small bimble in the woods and if I am only doing that I don't need all the kit anyway. :)
Pretty Nice and it looks Used, I see many people show there packs and every thing is New, Ive even seen a few pull stuff out still in the Plastic sold in 8) and it covers 2 of your Hobbies, Excellent.
Subbed. Which is rare for me. I have none of the gear and minimal knowledge, but someday I want to have the tools and skill to do this successfully. Thanks for the great content.
Great video and gears! Loads always changes with type of place you are going; in my case, I live in the desert, if I want to go out I will have ,mostly rocks, few vegetation and no water unless going up mountains where at least could have wood but no water; so my pack for a trip like this always would have at least 3 liters of water and with food that is easily 15 pounds already. I like carrying some luxuries in electronics and other things as I have not fully learned how to be selective yet on the gears I take and I tend to take things out to test, so average my pack is around 30-33 pounds. It seems no matter what I do I can not get it less than that. Water is a bummer because you can not just take too little of it, a person per day rule is 5 liters and that is almost 20 pounds!; places where there is vegetation and streams are better for outdoors I think as you can afford to go light weight relatively carrying half a liter or 1 liter of water if there is no issues to get it. If I go canoeing, my Katadyne 1 liter soft bottle filter takes care of all the water I need and keeps me hydrated without the weight! it is awesome, but trips to the desert mountains are different; hard because the weight and not to mess with; if you have no water that could be a problem.
Great video. That's a very nice set up , you have there. I agree, a lighter is great, but it's great using other means to make fire. Very well thought out. Good job.

Nagualero, would you please do a similar video on how you pack your inflatable kayak? I've never tried it but it looks like a lot of fun...and I'd rather not carry on my back the wood stove your videos convinced me to purchase.
IDK if you'll see this but: I'm thinking of buying this bag and the sleeping pad and the surrounding structure is a brilliant idea, I Love it! I do have a question though: do you know the volume of the "sleeping pad" while it's inside the bag - or more precisely the depth? I only ask as it looks like you've gotten the bag nice and stretched out whilst still retaining a straight back and their website claims the bag can almost double in volume while expanded.
Really enjoyed your pack load out, you have a nice kit. I'm guessing you are only doing short millage trips with 36lbs in that kind of pack? That is a lot of weight on your shoulders. I carry a pack a little lighter, about 32 lbs, but my pack had a hip belt, so more of the weight is on my hips, not so much on my shoulders.

nagualero I forgot to mention that I thought it was a great idea to form a sleeping pad inside your pack. I currently use a small office plastic waste basket to stick inside my Frost River. Thanks again Mike
That works well for a pack inner frame as well, specially as a secondary container if need be, but I like the option of insulation (the mat) and fire starter ( birch bark)
I keep watching your videos over and over. I just am learning a lot. I am just curious about your bushcraft kit, you mention you are going to show in a bit but it never comes. Have you done another video about it ? Thanks and great work.
11OCT18 I bought the Royale Junior pack about a year ago, after purchasing the Royale and the Royale Mini. Nearly $1200 all told for these three packs. As I was prepping the Junior for serious use the canvas flap tore under my fingers just opening the flap. When I called to arrange a return I got the run-around. At no time did this company say anything remotely resembling, "Oh, sorry to hear that. Send it in and we'll get you sorted." I had to ship the pack to them at my cost, and although I was assured I would be reimbursed for the shipping costs, I was not compensated for the return shipping. Not only did Frostriver decline to repair what was obviously rotten canvas, they also blamed me for the damage, saying that because I modified the pack by removing the Frostriver leather patch on the flap and removing the stitching from the map pocket inside on the flap, I caused the tear. As if removing some thread affected the quality of the canvas. Frostriver also thought it intelligent to close their letter of refusal with the following gem: "apologies that we will not see eye-to-eye on this, but we just may not be the right fit for you." This pearl was signed "sincerely" by Stephanie Anderson. At what price-point can you reliably trust you are purchasing a quality item backed by a good warranty? I have made many purchases from Frostriver other than packs. How can you trust a company that refuses to repair or replace poor materials and workmanship? I had yet to even take the Junior into the field, in fact never got it out of the house. Now I'm glad I never got the chance as I have no idea what might fail next. I will never make another purchase from this terrible company again. Poor customer service is one issue, but poorly crafted gear and a refusal to have any honor whatsoever is a whole different thing. Add to that Ms Anderson’s attempt to blame the consumer and excuse poor quality and the result is the loss of customers. Steer well clear of this company. Your hard-earned money is much better spent with a company that recognizes the value of repeat customers and the difficulty many have in financing Frostriver purchases. They appear to offer quality and good warranties, but the truth is they offer neither. I have no alternative vendor to recommend, but literally anyone else would be better. Go with a company that appreciates your custom, not one like Frostriver only interested in fleecing the very people keeping their lights on.
I have delt with frost river for years....never have i heard of bad customer service or poor quality they wouldn't fix or replace. I am curious as to who u spoke with. Feel free to contact me.
I was looking to buy a frost river pack and some other gear from them, but after hearing the problems you had with their customer service I think I'll take my business to Duluth pack or some other reputable company. Well, that was a good one. You are very organized, I can't believe all the things you fit in there! Kudos! :) And, a 40 lb. backpack! You walk with it like it weighed nothing it seemed! lol Love all your videos. If the tipi diaries were another format, like VHS or something, they would be worn out by now, all the times I've watched them! :) Looks like other people do that too. Hello to Petras (did I spell that right?) Thanks for sharing your videos and shining your light. :)
Very nice video, I am going to watch more of them. Great gear too. One thing though, you promised to get back on the reflector for your Ucolantern but you didnt. What is it you wanted to show, are you going to in another video maybe?
Nice video , on your royal pack , how do you like it ? For hiking with ? Is it comfortable on long hiking? Iam kind of torn between the isle royal and Fjällräven Kajka 75 ? I hike and canoe for 3 to 10 days outing at a time ! I like the bulletproof of the frost river packs but not sure how they are on long hikes in the back country
Frost rivers are not comfortable for hiking on hot days with light shirts, it grinds your skin a bit and they feel hot. You can get use to it and suck it up, but it's not worth it for multi day hiking in my opinion. On a canoe trip and portaging, then they are at their best. Tough as nails. I use mine for short daily hikes and bigger ones of up to 10 km. Not more than that usually. I have the kajka 75, that's my choice for multi day hikes or anything bigger than 10km. It's cool on the back, great hip support, but beware, it's a heavy pack. Tough as g1000 material can be. Not as tough as waxed canvas. Hope that helps
Lots of good ideas! One thing I hate in most videos their bags are packed tight and no food. Their equipment doesn't even look like it has been used. Granted there may be some new pieces of kit they are trying out. It makes me think they are fakes. You have food and equipment appears to have been used. Lends creditably.

You gained a sub and i'll be filtering thru your videos for more of your ideas and thoughts on this ... also i'm hoping to find some examples of your paintings. Like your little camp in the woods. Hello friend,
Great video!! What is name of your hand watch?
Acho lindo seus quadros 🖼
👍
Well, that was a good one. You are very organized, I can't believe all the things you fit in there! Kudos! :) And, a 40 lb. backpack! You walk with it like it weighed nothing it seemed! lol Love all your videos. If the tipi diaries were another format, like VHS or something, they would be worn out by now, all the times I've watched them! :) Looks like other people do that too. Hello to Petras (did I spell that right?) Thanks for sharing your videos and shining your light. :)
That's sweet of you, glad you like the diaries, I will be filming a new episode end of this month with a special guest, should be fun :)
Oh, boy! I will be watching it...a special guest, who could it be? lol :)
Very nice video, I am going to watch more of them. Great gear too. One thing though, you promised to get back on the reflector for your Ucolantern but you didnt. What is it you wanted to show, are you going to in another video maybe?
Nothing special, I guess I just wanted to show the reflector itself but forgot. You can see it in other videos I posted recently on camping
Hey great content!! What was the brand and where can I find the pine tar lip balm you showed?
thanks, I make my own
Wait… so how many fire steels did you demonstrate? 3? I wouldn’t carry 3
the saw on the dog tag is used to put a nock in the arrow you make
Cool, thanks Brian
Nice kit man, your oilskin(?) jacket is rather lovely too!
Thanks, the jacket is waxed
may I ask what the little book is?...thank you for your videos
Nice bag and kit, but my question is what do you keep on your belt kit?
Video on that coming soon :)
pretty good man
+ nagualero ... thanks for a truly informed and well presented bushcraft pack. You gained a sub and i'll be filtering thru your videos for more of your ideas and thoughts on this ... also i'm hoping to find some examples of your paintings. Like your little camp in the woods. Oh I did find examples of your painting on your website.. Awesome talent. Take care.
Thanks ; )
