- On this trip I tested my winter survival skills .This was a winter solo hike, with elements of bushcraft, and some survival skils. I packed my gear, find a natural shelter, and slept in the cave.
It was a lot of fun and I had a great time. I stayed plenty warm despite the temperature getting down to -12°C (10.4°F).

Thank you so much, as I type this I am in a lot of pain n swelling to my lt knee. I am also going thru insomnia n it's driving me crazy n so stressful.
I'm fine myself.
It's just that all the other people in my head are fucked up.
I'm at peace with myself, it's everyone else that drives me nuts.😊
I watch these videos wishing either it was me camping or I was along on the trip. I am 71 so my camping days are over but I wish you many, many more wonderful adventures!

Looks the cave I have on my property. The entrance is about 5 feet square and it opens to a room about 40X50 feet and about 12 feet floor to ceiling. It's great to camp in and stays fairly constant on tempeture. Camping in the cave is great during thunder storms and snow storms.

Build the fire in the cave. Will warm it as well in the front to scare away critters. Good ground insulation. Ground will kill you faster than anything

First burn the leaves from the base to get all the spiders & bugs out before setting up your bedding. My cave experience has been an absolute SPIDER FEST! Would rather spend the night uncovered than in a cave.....yuck!
It's terrible, but in my case I didn't see bugs and spiders !
My first thought would be bugs or mice so Id have cleared the floor and inspected.

how many times did you have to fill the pot with snow to get the desired amount of water?

Actually It's more energy efficient to melt ice because it's more condensed and you can fill your pot in one go and it wouldn't get colder so you don't have to start from the beginning.
Not to dismiss the technique. Seems like an urban parkway with the well maintained trails, log cut away, dogs barking, and the trail sign.

At 1:35 I noticed there is brick-work and also a steel beam coming out the ground at the entrance to the cave. Any idea what the story is with that?

This is cute.....it really is!!! You call this survivalist camping with food, fire starter, sleeping bags and a cave?!??!!? Come to Iceland with us and stay with none of that but 3 wool blankets and -45c with my toddler and my wife. That is true survival camping when you must find food. You are hilarious!!! Survival camping with all your provisions.....is not survival camping.

He didn’t call it “survival camping” Nimrod. It says “survival cave”. Meaning, I assume, that he is in a cave that could very well be the shelter, out of the cold and weather which could mean for someone, the difference between surviving or not. You might want to learn to pay closer attention before showing your ignorance by criticizing this very good video.
