New Indy 500 start time given after rain delay in race update by IMS president Doug Boles

After rain and poor weather delayed the start of the 2024 Indy 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles detailed plans for a new start time and gave further updates on the race Sunday.

I have always had total admiration for Mr. Doug Boles! The way that he, and his team handled such a fluid and difficult situation is remarkable. Doug has the leadership of, no less, than a General George Patton when it comes to the fearless organization of his troops in the face of a potentially very dangerous situation. After all, nay Sayers must come to honestly realize that the ultimate safety of around 400,00 souls rested directly on his shoulders. That is a responsibility that, I believe, is pretty much unfathomable. I take my hat off to IMS President Douglas Boles for not only his Love of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race but, also his commanding ability to provide nearly minute by minute decisions that were crucial in the production of presenting "THE 500" in such a way that EVERYONE was able to totally enjoy this iconic annual event in a SAFE and extremely ORGANIZED fashion. IMO President Boles deserves nothing less than a Governor's Commendation for the entire IMS staff's daunting efforts to bring this event off in the most entertaining and SAFE way possible. (This may sound weird to some. But, I have to imagine that none other than "The Great Anton Hulman Jr." is looking down from above and applauding Doug and the entire team of IMS employees and staff for a "Job, VERY Well Done!!!")
