Crawler Canyon Quick(re)view: RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC

- My definition of "quick" might not fall in line with others. But I've got you know, things to say. I call these a "quickview" because it covers unboxing and initial testing. It does not speak to durability, longevity, etc.
This is the "quick" review of the 1.9" RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC scale tire.

Great video and adds a little confirmation bias to my choice. I've been using the Rc4wd mickey thompson baja pro x 2.2 on my 4ws rig, they perform fantastically. I've (semi) followed your lead and double bunned them using the original very firm foams cut down in size and wrapped in a large donut. Can't believe how well they perform now!
Another great video and I was happy the tyres performed so well in stock form. They did real well on Tranquish but what about on one of the lighter or heavier rigs? (its all content) It would be interesting to see how they perform with more or less weight to carry.
I havent got the Baja Claws but I do have RC4WD Trail Riders which are a similar design but with more gaps in the tread. They are another tyre based on real life tyres and I got them as they have the same tread pattern as the tyres I had on my off road classic Range Rover. For the moment I have the Trail Riders mounted on scale classic Range Rover rims for when I build my Carisma SCA1E version. My real RR had Mach5 tubular off road rims so I designed a beadlock version in Fusion 360 and 3D printed them for my budget rig as a test, (they work well). I may do a set for the SCA1E RR to make it look like my old car but not decided yet. The Trail Riders were also as sticky as your tyres out of the bag so I have high hopes that they perform as well as the Claws when I get to run the truck. Thanks again for the videos. Looking forward to more tyre testing and truck wheeling.
Nice! I've never used the X2SS compound, I'll have to try some.
You said that was your best dig, my friend, that was your best crawl. You was on fire today.
I demand further testing. Preferable without chainsaw guy.
Loving the content. Binge watching with a big smile and chuckle at the terminology. The best tyres i have are all rc4wd. These, irox super swamper and 2.2 mudslingers. All on stock foam. Thanks for the esc advise recieved this morning in Australia.
Super great tire test with the music of Jackyl playing in the background.🤘🏻 I am shockingly surprised that the RC4WD tires did that well! The only RC4WD tire in my fleet that is actually ok is the stock Interco Super Swampers that came on my Marlin.
This si definitely some different stuff. The compound is proper sticky, and the foams do no offend. Every RC4WD tire I've handled otherwise, the foams are to be discarded immediately, and the tire generally elicits praise along the lines of, "well, that's a tire alright."
I gotta say those did phenomenaly well, they far exceeded my expectations. They look great as well, I think the tranquish may have his new tires :)
Ran some Baja Claws on an SCX24 in both directions, better front reversed but not great compared to other tires. The 24's aren't sticky at all. Not a fan of the black foams in any tire I have gotten them with. I'm a big fan of the dual stage foams, but I have learned you are an innovator of the budget solution.
These look killer and I'm happy to see these killing it. Great to see a genuinely solid tire from RC4WD too. I've heard good things about this tire and have admittedly been skeptical
Genuinely exciting to see RC4WD putting out some properly good tires... and with functional foams, no less!
Great test! That compound always worked well on my SCX24s. It's the same they use in the very popular Scrambler 1.0" tires.
I have these tires on my scx10.3 and they have been fantastic although I don't have the stock foams in them.
This was the first aftermarket tire I’ve ever bought and has always been my favorite since
Thank you for another great video canyon
Thanks for the review. The background noise had me rolling. 👍😂👍
We had the trifecta: Chainsaw Man, damn helicopter, and special appearance by KEVIN. But hey, no wind!
Thank you I’ve been asking for this for a few weeks now. Next up can you try the Baja pro x tires from proline
They're on backorder everywhere
@@white6502 Baja Pro X vs. Tusk
New sections look great. But I miss the side hill.
Side hill was too close to the chainsaw.
Love the chain saw.. it's like your testing the skinny peddle too lol send it
You should try the RC4WD Wrangler MTR in the same compound. An unsung performer! 😈
I still prefer a full body and the Tucked body is one of my fav’s and with the addition of the new wheel combo looks great!
I run the claws on my VS410 Phoenix and here on the rocks in Arizona they grip really well on stock foams. I feel like they really make a heavy rig get that side lug performance out of the tire. Your test on them is almost the same as what I have seen with them out in the wild. They do have some flaws like any other tire, that being said the flaws are things you can work around if you know how to control the truck.
If you want try out the The Mickey Thompson Pro 1.9 and change the phones in them they work really really well and the interco irok 1.9 tires were extremely well and the interco stl bogger 1.9
Rc's are fun, but your neighbors being an inconvenience crack me up! Subbed just for that reason! 😂
The gawdforsaken helicopter flew DIRECTLY over the house today, six times in the span of 20 minutes. East, west, east, west, east, west. I dream of that thing getting struck by lightning. Repeatedly.
Try running he fronts reversed pattern, I found them to be even better with the / \ pulling the other direction.
Between the rc truck, chain saw and helicopter. This had to be your noisest video yet
You couldn't pelt that gardening with a dirt clod in the back of the head! Great results 👏
Never bring a dirt clod to a chainsaw fight. Well, also, that's the guy that does my trees too. He's a great dude, he just happens to work to hard. He's that local tree guy that goes right up the palm trees with the heel spikes and cuts the dead fronds off with a chainsaw in one hand. 🫣
@@CrawlerCanyon Okay, we'll allow it. Thanks!
You should see the nasty lube the tire shops use on my semi tires. It’s in a 2 gallon bucket and makes an absolute mess on my aluminum wheels.
I'm gonna guess that a 22.5" takes a little more "convincing" to mount than what I'm working with. 😂
Ever tested these backwards? I just got a set (haven't tested them yet) But saw some video's of the real rock crawlers using them backwards...
Every chevron-patterned tire I've tried backwards has done horribly. Further, I've never tested a single tire with any kind of lug directionality that did better "backwards" vs. "forwards." The JConcepts Tusk has a different traction profile forward vs. backward and can sometimes be run mixed (particularly in situations of bigger OD/UD,) but in general: tires don't work better backwards. Most get measurably worse.
I have the pro x. They look pretty grippy. Had to get diff rims. Rc4wd are the hardest tires to mount. Exocage rc tested them on his page. Won the tire test. Crawler canyon is way better to watch
... The "Fkn" Squeeze Test, RIGHT.....!!???
💪🇺🇸
lets see - these Mickies vs Holds -
Oh, these are a level above the Holds, I'm afraid. The tread bar on the Hold, not having that little chevron in the center, makes for pretty poor steering response, but the Baja Claws stick like chewing gum. The steering is phenomenal.
I'm sooo happy Kevin is not my neighbour, he needs special attention if you know what I mean 😉
#(85)..... Oh Fuqq Ya !!!! 🤘😜👌
Opps. I pressed don’t like. But I do like
In the hood they call the police helicopter the ghetto bird
