- The RC4WD Bully II MOA is a killer platform for building some of the highest performance RC crawlers that exist. I recently bought a used one and had it shipped in, today we take it out and see what it can do!

Before the scale scene took over rc, this was at one point the most popular segment of rc crawling.
Took my Bully2 out for it's maiden run yesterday up at Curbar Edge in Derbyshire's Peak District. It crawled every rock I asked of it and then turned and laughed at me. The ascents it is capable of made me repeatedly shout WOW. A superb machine...
It's often like watching magic tricks. I think there should be an applause track.
Great video! I’ve converted my Bully II with 2 brushless sensored Hobbywing XeRun AXE 540 motors plus 4 wheel steering. I’m running a DX5Pro and am using the Drive Modes to control the overdrive and provide front and rear drag. At the moment I’m running 56:44% overdrive for crawling but you can set assign different drive rations to different Drive Modes to allow on the fly changes.
I remember when MOA was extremely popular and there were so many MOA kits on the market like the original RC4WD Bully, the Axial XR10, and the Enroute Berg. I also remember RC4WD sold 1/8th scale kits like the Rockbull and the Superbully.
You'll freaking love moa it will do anything. You actually get bored bc it will go anywhere
The first climb up that sheer face just left my TRX-4 behind. Amazing vehicle!
The visual lines of the crawler looks almost alien!
Thanks for a look into the future of RC crawling. Congrats……
Actually this is the past. Before scale crawlers became super popular, this is what people ran in competition.
Great examples of the MOA abilities. Impressive video of some epic crawling.
Thanks for all of your videos. Very educational. Watched quite a few. Bought my first crawler and was amazed at where it would go. Your videos really helped with line choice. 👍👍
I am originally from Puerto Rico and now, I live in Utah and have a Rock Crawler or two or three lol love watching your videos.
It's like watching a spider crawl over those rocks. Good thing you have so many Challenging lines over there!
Great video Logan. I really enjoyed watching the different style of terrain that this thing can handle! And the tighter shots in some areas made for some cool footage 👌🏼
Thanks Alec! I was supposed to have brought it for our trail ride and forgot to put it in the truck
The background there looks fake it's so beautiful. It definitely helped me subscribe 😆
Awesome video Logan, I really enjoyed watching the run. I think what I like best in your video style is when your doing the commentary on the drive in real time your not playing thumping background music/noise and that's fantastic in my opinion. I want to be able to hear what it is your telling your audience with out the distraction of background music competing with you and you give your viewers that. Very decent camera angles all while driving as best as you can under the circumstances of doing multiple things at once, not an easy task at all. I watch your videos for the great content and what you have to say and my dog who is a black lab border collie cross watches them and loves seeing your dog running around. Your channel is entertaining for both humans and pooches as well. That Bully is more mountain goat than a real mountain goat. Great driving and looking forward to more.
Thank you! Yeah music makes people complain in my experience so I don’t try. Glad your pup watches too hahaha

It seems to me that what you have to offer is more than a cool video. Watching a well shot video with some music is fun but we’re not here for that. We’re here to hear you as much as watch what you’re doing. I’ve just started filming and driving, practice for starting a channel, and you, sir have some skill. Driving and filming is hard enough but your ability to see and know exactly what the car is going to do and then explain what you’re doing, what the car is about to do and why, is impressive. Keep it up!
I really want one of these trucks. I started crawling years ago with a Clod Buster based rig. I feel like the Bully is the evolution of those old Clod crawlers.
Rc4wd MOA 4WS would be awesome! great drive!
If it hasn't already been said, you should assign a switch so that you can control overdrive on the fly. Sometimes, an even mix is what you want, other times you may need to completely stop either the front or the rear axle from moving at all. Being able to control that on the fly is priceless.
An amazing driver with all your rigs man great info you tell and lines are very well explained
Ditch the aluminum wheels, play with the motor's polarity/position to see if you can get them matched better, run the br mini's on 4s, and switch to a dx5 pro (if you want to stay Spektrum) or a Sanwa M12/MT4. Have fun seeing what lines a pro scale truck wouldn't dream of!
That thing would be crazy with rear steering! Great video 👍🏼
Very cool...
Some years back I found an ultimate Facebook marketplace ad. It was a complete unassembled xr10 lots of VP upgrades, two chassis with links and panels high end electronics.... I got it built and have picked at the easy lines with it a single time... It's a shelf queen. I need to drive all my rigs more than I do but we have had snow on the ground since the first of the year here and traffic out of town is so bad I can't bare to travel south to the bigger cities.
.
Just wait until you try the bully2 with 4ws. And if possible can you make a video on the Ibex run with it, and try to find some super technical trails. I'm loving my bully2.
Sweet video Logan . Thanks for the shout out . Can’t wait to wheel with you again soon 🦎👊
🙌🏼 y’all together are a force to be reckoned with!
For sure T! I want to see what you think of this car and to run some wild lines with your group
Vent your tires. Let them breath and form around rocks. NEXT LEVEL!
😍 Jesus, what a machine! Phenomenal. 👍👍
Man I’m into more scale crawling but this is so satisfying with all the articulating. Great video!
With the motors some are stronger than others even of the same turn. Try switching the motors from front to back. Its what I had to do on my moa to sort out the rear overdrive.
Or you could have just set the rear motor at 0 timing and the front motor at 6° it would have been perfect. 👍🏻🔥😎🔥👌🏻
"I love when it hangs like that" 😂😂 badass man.. sweet driving.
Haha you get it!
9:50 see that giant rock off to the right a little ways in the distance, would love to watch a video of you climbing that
I've had my Bully 2 for a few months now, and it's a blast like you say.
Man I fully loaded mines with all homes hobbies electronics servo team puller 500 motors and the dual Holmes hobby ESC. It's a blast when I can run outside I run all over the sofas in the living room I get in trouble but I still do it 🔥🔥😎🔥💪🏻 keep up the great videos and I'm glad that you finally did one on a truck that I have thanks.
Sounds really similar to my trucks electronics setup. Glad you like it!
@@westdesertwheeler2666 if you get a chance go to the website holmeshobbies go to the motor section parts and accessories and pick up some bwd motor saver they're made from delrin keeps your motors from getting scratched up.
A guy at ur local crawler park has one of those and they are absolutely crazy, great video. 🍻
Wish i had that type of terrain here in Puerto Rico 💪🏼 great performance 😎
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching
That’s one happy pup 😎
I reckon a Flysky Noble will really unlock this things potential!
That was my plan
dude, you live in a beautiful place!!!!!
Awesome crawling Brotha
Thanks!
Nice upgraded MOA! I've got the same one fully stock and I've only taken it out maybe 4 times in a few months, and just found 2 screws VERY loose and 1 totally missing. I'm gonna go through the whole thing now and loctite it all and then go play! And it was very cool to hang with you and haul you around in my Power Wagon this weekend. Cheers brother!
Well shit man we need to go run some MOAs! Thanks for hauling the group out. That truck is sick!
I stumbled upon your vids for the actual rock crawling, ddnt know youre into rc crawling. Just picked up one myself, 24th scale though. This looks sweet!
realy nice , cool stressless vdo tanks ! i realy loe it !
with an MOA set up you could adjust overdrive on the fly with the right ESC. Super neat.
Great vid man, MOA are the ultimate crawler.. i luv my Dlux
Hey Logan. Just purchased and installed your capra kit for straight axle conversion. Awesome part! Thanks so much! I was just wondering, what transmitter did you upgrade to on your MOA to get the front burn to work? Thanks
incredible abilities, and good driving. Wish the machine looked a bit more like a real world truck though, but you can't have everything! 👍🍺🇬🇧
Definitely cool
Awesome rig and driving Logan.
Careful now we don't need another gatekeeper incident.
No we don’t! Thanks for watching dude
Hacks :D, very cool!
That toilet bowl line is cool!
Going up is always fun! I have forced a lot of trucks up it. It’s on my Risk trail
And i'm just out here tryna get a bomber. Jeez!!! lol looks like a good time
thanks for this video
I highly recommend the futaba 4pls for dual esc and four wheel steering if you want
Really want to see more of this thing
Me too man. Broke an axle shaft and waiting on parts
@@westdesertwheeler2666 awesome, will be waiting haha. I'm buying a dlux bounty hunter on dlux superlights and voodoo pins on Saturday, don't think it will be as good as this but I hope it's close!
Oh, Man, now you've gone and got me kinda itching to want to get my moa crawlers out of hibernation!
I have always loved the MOA rigs, virtually spiders just sticking to everything.
Regarding your radio, is there a chance you could have the rear esc on a dial that you could wind up or down on the drive percentage like from 50-100% drive so u can tweak it as required?
It looked like sometimes the 90% was perfect but then as u said, 95 or even 100 was needed to pick certain lines
Great vidéo ! 👍
And i love your dog ! I had the same 🤩
That's cool. I use to run super class on super clodbuster axles.
Supers are wild
LMAO😆🤣😂
Watch the dog at 4:50 he grabs a rock, and is looking to take the Bully out!! Too Funny!
Whoa cool toy how fast does it go!!!!
🤣😂 jk man i want one way bad
Next time you go over that tough 90 degree incline hook. Set your dig when climbing and you'll get up even easier. That dig puts all the force onto the front and changes the force from a balanced push / pull to a strong front pull. Using it while climbing seems strange but it's one of the biggest advantages dig has because the torque forces those front wheels to the ground. The biggest reason people flip over is high CG and rear torque. You can shut yours off anytime you want, it's almost not even fair 😂. 👍
I love moa!!!
I have 2 xr10 and a berg :)
💯 that’s amazing
Puerto ricans build some bad ass moa fosho 🤘👊
Wow I may have to get one of these... but like somebody below said, I'd want it to be 4WS. I just got a Capra 4WS so I should use it to learn on first.
Hey Logan awesome video as always. I’m new to the hobby but I’ve been watching you’re videos for a while now. Where can I get myself one of these rigs bud?
Incredible. The capability of these MOA rigs is just insane. Maybe I missed it, but what servo are you using? It looks super fast
Rewatch the first part.
About to pull the trigger on one of these. What's actually upgraded on this compared to stock? Just servos?
You can adjust your motor timing sometime that will help with your motors starting and stopping at the same time just keep eye on temps
absolute master. you really should post video lessons on technique. thanks for the fun vids. my warm regards to your cool dog
Haha thanks man, I just talk out loud what I think while I drive. I don’t think I’m an expert but someone who enjoys finding the lines
“…you really should post video lessons on technique.”
Um… isn’t that what all of his videos are? Are they not a great demonstration of how with a real-time detailed explanation of why, in effect, a lesson on his technique and approach to rock crawling in every video? No question, he’s great.
Awesome video. Did you build it, or buy it built? I’m looking to purchase one right now.
On your spectrum settings did you turn down the rate on your mixing aux throttle. That's what I did. But I'm still learning too. I wonder if it's better your way or my way. I'm trying to learn the best thing for mines
Where did you get the .stl for the thumb steering piece on your transmitter?
RC4WD seems hit or miss but they nailed it with the Bully - hugely capable!
U make me wanna get a moa now 😂
What size batt pack r u running? How much more capable is this vs the capra?
Another killer one man! Typical rc4wd “Quality Control” 😂 but I definitely enjoyed watching this thing eat such crazy lines-I thought you had that second to last one for sure there.
I might just need to try again
Perfect for when you wanna go out and defy the laws of physics
I just got a TT-02 from Puerto Rico! I love the videos. Keep them coming!
Will do!
Im so jelious. Ive been wanting a moa for so long.
Wow man
Hi I am in the market for a new controller to do front and rear dig and 4ws. What have you heard the best radio for MOAs is? Im going to try to pick a radio up this week.
Do you think those pin type comp tires are better than a scale replica type tread design? It would be cool to see the pin tread carry right over down sidewall of tire.
Absolutely the pins are better. More edges to get traction, and the lugs are short enough that you don’t get the lug fold like what tends to happen with more scale like tires.
Although many scale tires now are of a good compound and foam tuning can make them nearly as capable. But yeah; the bare sidewalls can be a little bit of a downside as there are no side lugs to hold and grab with. I’d like to see some more side lugs as well.
Foams too stiff IMO, causing that traction hop at the 10min mark.
I’m running some fairly soft outer foams in my “2.2 pro” rig, and some old hot bodies rover tires and I like to hit dig and get the front tires to squat the foams a little bit and really bite into/ on top of a ledge and it does a nice job of popping up and going when you put it back in 4wd and the foams unload. Like at 19:47 it would’ve bit on that ledge easier.
Subbed. How do you think this compares to the discontinued Axial XR10? I have an XR10 and it’s kind of annoying. I made a custom chassis and I think that’s the problem because mine is not very capable. But the plastic axles on the XR10 suck imo.
I’ve never driven one so I don’t have much of an opinion there
So how is your servo wired? I guess im stuck on the whole powered directly thing.
So it still has a wire that plugs into the receiver so it knows when I want it to turn. The battery connector gets an extra wire soldered on pos and neg that sends power directly to the servo so the receiver doesn’t give it power, the battery does. But the servo must be built to handle that voltage
you gotta slam it, get that cog down, brass up the front too, with the rugged you can set up the moa dig and burn on a 3 pos switch that moves between the motors
Not sure how to get it to work with the rugged in a 3 pos. I thought the same thing. It has brass up front
@@westdesertwheeler2666 can you pm me somehow maybe, I'll send you screen shots of my moa settings in my dx5 pro it should work the same, cause I copied it over from my old rugged
Rear wheel steering mod this😍😳
It’s possible, perhaps later
Jaw dropping
Get a sanwa mt4. It is the ultimate Moa Radio. It has a lever that allows you to distribute the Power stepless from front to back. All moa Guys around Europe use a mt4.
I will check it out!
i wonder if anyone has tried 4ws with front and rear dig on one of these? either way, i really wanna get one some day, but the rtr is like £700+ and if im going big money on an rc, im getting a baja 5b first been droolin over them for a decade, and im not to sure how long they are gonna re-run them
Mine was delivered today, but the wife says i can't have it until Christmas. So now i have until Christmas to figure out what batteries to use. Any ideas?
Thanks
I also had an axial xr10 but I didn't run it much.
Glad my dogs not the only one to do that. Lol
You still own your Bully? If so, What’s your opinion after 2 years? Love your vids! Sand Hallow looks very similar to the crocks I run here in Flagstaff.
Where can I buy one?
what is shock length 90mm? thx
Hi Logan, May I know the built specs pls
i run a gt5 on my bully 2. i run hobbywing 1080 esc and brushed holmes motors
Bad ass
I have the axial xr10 moa ,rebuilding it
Any full size MOA vehicles?
I wish. None that I know of. You’d want motor on hub
