Suppose Monday is chest...next chest day will be Friday and next will be Wednesday and then Monday again. So you hit your chest 3 times in 2 weeks. . . . And I personally follow this...since I'm focusing on my back. Chest and biceps Back Shoulders and triceps Legs

Calorie deficit when new to the gym is not the best idea. I did that and barely made any progress in terms of muscle gain. Unless you are obese don't be in a deficit.
thermic effect of food is real but the differences between food sources on your total calories burnt and eventually on calorie deficit is quite marginal calorie intake indeed is a much bigger impact on calorie deficit

But...my gym is closed on Sunday...so I rest on Sundays.
Suppose Monday is chest...next chest day will be Friday and next will be Wednesday and then Monday again.
So you hit your chest 3 times in 2 weeks.

Calorie deficit when new to the gym is not the best idea. I did that and barely made any progress in terms of muscle gain. Unless you are obese don't be in a deficit.
