Just to clear it up.... this mod actually does increase the amount of air being sucked into the manifold which in turn changes the amount of gasoline being injected into the engine because the air fuel ratio has to remain the same as stock, it's tuned that way, therefore causing more explosive force( generates more torque and horsepower due to higher compression from a bigger explosion ). In turn this also adds more wear and tear to the cylinder walls and piston heads as well as the connecting rods. Sorry if anyone is confused but someone has to break it down for the ones that don't know how engines work.
It doesn’t increase compression and cooler mornings do the same thing when the air in thicker that’s what the computer adjusts for so no need to explain
@@Watchyalife yes and it does jack all nut give a TINY blip of better throttle response, I started with things like this on my S10 #7, at this point I've got my 2nd daughter's college fund in my crankshaft. There's a ton to do to these 4.3 workhorses safely and a good beginner mod (and getting more comfy with working on your S10) would 100% be a small mod like this. What you MIGHY find is depending on the year 98-03 it may NOT even have the diffuser as I found replacing some of mine with what should be your NEXT step- BBK 85MM LT1 TB 😂 "mod"
I didn't feel my '99 till after I put in a new engine with headers, high flow cat, and a flow master, with the flexalite fans. The throttle body was also bored. 👍🏻 Runs like a haus. Great video.
Did it actually do anything or did you just put your foot deeper in the throttle because the first run you only went over to 4000 RPMs and the second run you went to almost Redline
Same amount of pressure on the throttle, folks. As I got closer to redline, I hesitated to keep going of course. The mod does make a difference in torque and acceleration.
When i throttle my 02 4.3, it winds all the way out to the redline, just like this truck did in the second run. This truck was not mashed to the floor in the first run.
Just did my 01 xtreme 4.3, and i did notice quicker take offs. Did the TB mod and removed the screen from the MAF. Truck has spectre air filter with high flow CAT and flowmaster 44 muffler, hypertech programmer next.
+MELEK ONER I have not done the CAT mod, still have stock on here, but aiming to do it soon... but probably will wait til I change over to Flowmater exhaust.
I can vouch for the throttle blade mod for the vortec 4.3l V6 and 5.3l V8. It makes a huge difference in throttle response and a better flow. GM was trying to create better fuel economy with restriction XD
Yes sir. I have an extra stock diffuser plate on hand to stick into the TB... if I need to do a lot of driving and need to pinch the fuel pennies... I'll take 10 mins and stick it in.
I know I'm late to reply, but I wanted to help clear something up. The 5.3l V8 doesn't have the throttle 'diffuser' plate, as it's a 2nd gen. Vortec. I believe you mean the 5.7l had the throttle diffuser. I know it did, and I believe the 5.0 Vortec had it too. I have a Vortec 7.4l (also 1st gen Vortec) and it, ironically, doesnt have it. They probably put them in to cut back the power, just so they could sell the "new and improved" 2nd gen Vortecs! The newer 5.3 had quite a bit more horsepower than the 5.7 Vortec, but I know they were 'sandbagging' that 5.7! My Envoy with the 5.3, 4.10 gears and a few minor bolt-ons is QUICK for its size!
I just did this mod and my exact same words were hole E crap what a total difference my truck smoldered the tires only other modifications I did was remove the air box resonator and install a K&N air filter in the stock air box 2002 GMC SIERRA 1500 4.3 vortec V6 with 405 thousands miles a well used truck I also run with the tailgate down next step new spark plugs, cap-rotor,plug wires and a hotter coil she needs all the help she can get 😉
+bearded car guy silverado ss Thanks much. Appreciate it. Throttle Body Diffuser Plate and Removing the Fan driven by engine is best move. Gas mileage is near 400 miles per tankful now. Overdrive RPM is lower, and your Low End Torque will be 20 times better man. Go to Electric Fan. Dual fan is way to go. Run one all time every day, and when hotter days or idling for long periods, flip a switch and turn the 2nd one on. Email me joshsrpro (at) gmail (dot) com if I can help answer questions.
Justin P. I've had 2 4.3s that couldn't. I ran them hard while cold a lot because they reacted better cold but both threw a rod. I'm on my 4th 4.3 and I'm going easier with it and it's at 300k miles and still good.
It's all about foot control. You do have to get adjusted to the new "pedal pressure" required to get the job done efficiently. If you accelerate fast, sure it will drink more gas... it's taking more air in now. #SelfControl
You just saw the tach. Unfortunately not the pedal. It was truly to the floor on the stock run. It could have had some power issues before the mod/cleanup/tune. Not now.
FYI: Just detach the diffuser plate completely, then block the holes from the rivets with JB weld. The throttle body doesn't get hot enough to affect the JB weld's integrity and it won't be sucked into your engine. Honest. I've been driving with my throttle body modified as described for years and have had no idle issues or any other issue. No Check Engine light, just better throttle response and improved top end. Doing a bit work with a die grinder and some deflashing also improves overall MPG. I gained about 2+ MPG after cleaning up the flashing and a mild polishing. The throttle body diffuser plate removal didn't seem to affect MPG, only throttle response.
José Bermudez maybe. i still need to get an intake manifold, cold air intake. and swap out the pulley fam for an electric. alreadg have the posi rear end.
Bro that's how my blazer drives already 😅😅 the previous owner must of done this cause fuck that was spot on, another cheap ass mod is to remove the governor that's located just where your throttle cable attaches to the top of the engine for a little more balls hahaha but damn nice video man glad I watched it
+Hayden Wegner I went to a junkyard and picked it up for $20. Mopar Fan. Highly recommended. From a Dodge Intrepid, if I recall correctly. All the mods play hand in hand. If you want better fuel mileage, you have to learn how to drive a little differently... don't accelerate of 1750 to 2K Removing water pump alone will help your air conditioner do a better job... Needless to say any load off the engine is a positive for everything else involved. Power, AC, etc. But you get a great lower end torque from the diffuser mod, and it pays off at Cruising speeds for long trips. I go back and forth from Muscle Shoals, AL to Nashville, TN very regular. I get 375 to 400MPG after the mod, where I got maybe 325 before. Worth the mileage (while gas is $1.50!)
I removed a throttle blade from a Ls 5.3 Tahoe (it was a cable not drive by wire. 3 bolt throttle body) it looks I identical other than having coolant lines through it and also the mechanism for the throttle cable on the side was clocked different as the tb sits on the front of the ls intake. The blade doesn’t have the dumb ass shit on the back of it. I’ve never heard of anyone actually doing it. Happen to Stumbled across it while at the junk yard. 👍🏻👍🏻
Lies, in the "before" you werent at wide open throttle, it was sgifting at 3500, half throttle or less, in "after" you just floored it, nice try though.
Okay here's a debate that's going on and is also on Facebook on another S10 site and that is how much horsepower has increased? with this mod! one guy saying 10Hp another guy saying 25hp and another guy saying 50hp horsepower! what is it? I like to know!!
@@seriouspowerwashing458 Very good mod to do I recommend, I suggest taking off a throttle body off of a 5.7 and it will bolt right up to the 4.3, that's what I did. The 5.7 was a 1998. Probably makes 5-15 more horsepower but only really only under 3000-3500 rpm range because the throttle body blade restrictor really only restricts it at low throttle which is why the motor becomes so responsive at low rpm’s

4.3's as a rule are very quick off the line, when in an S10. Now put same engine is a Silverado? Not so much. I did the mod to my 2006 4.3 and you have to feather the throttle now to get off the line. Lost the low end, so I figure that is what the little shroud is there for. GM spends millions on research and development to get it right. I should have never believed youtube and took my shroud off. Sure, it runs great up past 2000+ rpm, but there is no low end now. Anyone want to trade throttle plates? I am serious.
Yeah my tired old ZR2 Sonoma is like a rocket up to 40 but somehow takes about 15 seconds to get to 60 lol. I don't believe it has any throttle body mods but I've noticed it's a dog when I hit it full throttle but if I do about half throttle up to 20 mph then full throttle it gets moving pretty good
Anyone out there considering this, don't do this. Deleting it will completely fucks up the air/fuel ratio so high high speeds like on the highway, your engine might no handle this!
