My Brother, that is awesome.....👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I will have my very first set within a week and I will teach myself with ease...... I am very glad to find your channel. Thank you.
how i wish i could avail your book ... 😅 ... out of all those channels i visited... you were the only that i could understand😊 more videos on drumming❤
Although I am a intermediate drummer right now but this brought me wayy back when I started to learn. Especially Exercise number 4 ( Hi hat openings on 2 and 4) and the rimshots were hard for me to master
I am a guitarist, but have always wanted to learn more about drums. Ordering a Roland TD-17KL kit next week and these videos are exactly what I need. Thanks man!
Kid comes home after learning rim shot... kid: I learned the rim shot today! parent: what's that? kid: it's when you hit your tip and shaft at the same time. parent: 😧 All jokes aside, great video and love the channel. I stumbled across this after looking up freedrumlessons.com from back in the day. Keep up the good work! 👍

wjb111 Since so many people here are commenting on his socks, I read this as you ordered the SOCKS sorry! AND it made me laugh for a sec. Lol. & soon realised the book. If it is a real good book & easy for non drummer people to understand & useful for non drummers...please post it here later ! I might consider buying it , TOO ....thank you!
I feel that Drum set is an easy instrument to an extent, but it can also be one of the most difficult but only if taken to the furthest extent, I’m not talking About crazy Fills, I mean When You play Flams and Doubles and Triples and rudiments and Accenting, Crescendos, Decrescendo, Ghost notes, and you make the most out of your Foot work to play your heart out. Cause Rudiments aren’t theory practices but Sticking patterns that Can help you excel musically. Ofc That can goes for almost any instrument, But Drumset is the one Instrument where that Truly stands out
W😁😁😁😁😁hen Jared started playing the cross stick groove... I started singing "I keep forgetting we're not in love anymore" by Michael McDonald...lol!!!!
hey jared, firstly i want to say thank you !! im apart of an emailing listing that you kindly offered. ive been tuned in since then to drumeo youtube. almost going on a couple of weeks. loved the Steven Taylor drumeo sesh ive played for a few years. everything i have has been due to playing by ear. can play to alot of music i listen to, rock mainly. not to the song exactly. (simplifying) but can identify most fills, cant pull all of them off. and can identify and play most the basic beats minus Carey's work. would just like to know please, what area/training/exercises i need to immediately to work towards in order to became a better/complete drummer. goal is to became gig level. thanks for your time man, cheers Jared
Same Jared I thought a cross stick was called a rim shot, I know you said that over ghost noting is bad but that groove you played sounded pretty good😂
So I'm basically self taught and I kinda did Crecendos just naturally because a lot of the music I listen to does that. It's done a bunch of time on Enter Sandman which is one of the first songs I learned Edit: it's kinda weird how I ended up doing these things just from forcing myself to play stuff I've heard. Also one issue I still have today is accidentally locking my hands and accidentally hitting my hi hat again during s ghost note
Are there videos anywhere (by anyone) discussing exercises on how to get more closely locked into a click track for studio recording? Incl. more precise subdivisions, identifying and shaving off some of the milliseconds of drift (rushing, dragging, or other unwanted inconsistencies); and how to practice for more precision nailing the hits? I notice a lot of good drummers demonstrating with a metronome but, respectfully, they almost always drift a little more than you can/should for a studio recording.
I hear you, My lower right back and hip kills me when I lift my leg , Ichanged to the heel on the floor technique, works good for me no more pain.. 60 yr old guy here ..
You'll know when you're doing rimshots. After the end of your session your sticks look like a beaver has been chewing on them and saw dust on the floor under your snare drum.
Great stuff on the lessons so far. I'm 63 and havn't played steady on a kit for 45 years! It's coming back to me. Tried ordering the $19.95 beginner book and it's costing me $38.99? Am I missing something other than the book? JH
I'm super new.... Like, I think, I finally figured out my BASE set up for my drums. Comfy, no stretching, angled down thighs, and ect. Where do I go from here? I feel like I need to study some grips now.... I would love feed back guys. PLEASE. I would love to talk to the community about this stuff. Thanks everyone

Thank you sincerely, your technique has enhanced my interest and makes me believe that I will be able to learn drumming from your method of training,
I've got enough ghost notes already. Cuz I've got no stick control yet! :)
Find any video about grip?
How're you doing with the drums right now?
I did the rimshot thing a couple of times by mistake and never really thought I could use it for anything. Good thing I watched this video.
You are a great teacher! You make it so easy to learn.
Great lesson Jared, The "too many ghost notes" example sounded pretty good.
Lesson 1. First time player, could fall along! Well done dude!
